Chapter 78 - Squad 4

"Lord Mayuri!"

Ignoring the condition of her own body, Nemu abruptly turned.

The Heilig Pfeil exploded above Mayuri's head, scattering into dozens of smaller arrows that rained down upon him.

Uryū had shown mercy.

Instead of concentrating the full power into a single killing blow, he dispersed it into smaller arrows—severely injuring Mayuri without taking his life.

But Nemu didn't know that.

She immediately rushed toward him—

Only to collapse after a few steps. Her injuries made it impossible to run, and with her arms pierced, she couldn't even push herself up properly.

She could only crawl—

Slowly dragging herself toward Mayuri.

Mayuri, gravely wounded, was already on the verge of losing consciousness.

Through his fading vision, he saw Nemu inching toward him.

That strange, unfamiliar emotion within him—

Grew stronger.

Moments later—

Mayuri lost consciousness.

Nemu, having lost too much blood, soon fainted as well.

Uryū did not continue the attack.

If he had truly wanted to kill them, he wouldn't have waited until now.

Instead—

He felt empty.

There was no satisfaction in his revenge.

Even someone like Mayuri—who treated others as mere tools—

Still had someone willing to follow him.

Uryū didn't even know how to process that feeling.

"Yo, finished already?"

A familiar voice broke the silence.

Turning around, Uryū saw Tsunayoshi approaching at high speed using Hirenkyaku.

"Yeah…" Uryū hesitated, then asked, "Tsuna… someone like Mayuri—does he really deserve loyalty?"

Tsuna glanced at Mayuri and Nemu lying face-to-face on the ground and immediately understood.

He casually patted Uryū's shoulder.

"Don't overthink it. That's his artificially created daughter. Who else would she follow?"

"Artificial… daughter?"

Uryū couldn't quite grasp the "artificial" part, but the word daughter alone was enough.

That explained Nemu's unwavering loyalty.

Uryū removed the Sanrei Glove completely.

As it came off, his state of Reishi subjugation was forcibly canceled.

He could no longer sense Reishi at all.

This—

Was the glove's side effect.

The emptiness of losing his power felt deeply uncomfortable, though he had already experienced it before.

Calmly, he took out a balloon-like device from his backpack.

After activating it, it rapidly absorbed surrounding Reishi and expanded—

Until it became a perfect replica of himself.

A portable Gigai, prepared by Urahara.

Besides serving as a decoy—

It had a function exclusive to Uryū.

Uryū looked at the Gigai.

A strange power flickered deep within his eyes.

That power resonated with the Gigai—

Pulling something from Uryū's body and transferring it into the artificial shell.

The next moment—

The Gigai exploded like a balloon.

And in Uryū's hand—

Reishi gathered once more.

His Quincy powers had returned.

This was the Schrift Kanae had passed down to him— "A: The Antithesis.

Its ability:

To completely reverse and swap events that have already occurred between two targets.

Just now, Uryū had transferred the "loss of his powers" to the Gigai.

Since the Gigai depended on surrounding Reishi, losing control caused instability—

Resulting in its explosion.

Meanwhile—

Uryū regained his abilities.

This power came from his mother, Ishida Kanae.

That was why the Sanrei Glove had been designed specifically for her.

With Antithesis—

The glove's drawback was meaningless.

She could freely enter the incomplete Vollständig state at any time.

In fact—

Kanae, with that combination, had been the strongest member of the Ishida family.

Unfortunately—

During Auswählen, to save Uryū's life, she transferred her healthy condition—and her power—to him.

Taking on his Still Silver blood clot condition herself.

Thankfully, with Tsuna and Ryūken's efforts, Kanae survived.

And because she lived—

She could guide Uryū in using his Schrift.

Even so—

Uryū had only mastered a fraction of it.

He could use Antithesis only once per day.

That single use—

Was what allowed him to counteract the Sanrei Glove's drawback.

"I'm taking them—and Chad—to Squad 4. You coming?" Tsuna asked.

"Squad 4?" Uryū shook his head. "That's the medical division, right? I just took down over a hundred Squad 11 members yesterday. If I go there, I'll just get mobbed."

Tsuna raised an eyebrow.

Among all of them—

Uryū might actually be the biggest troublemaker.

"Fair enough. What will you do then?"

"Everyone's been accounted for, right?"

"Yeah. Except Ganju—we can't contact him."

"Then I'll search for him. Either way, I'll regroup with Ichigo tonight."

"Alright. They're at the Shihōin residence—over that way."

"I got it."

Uryū paused, then asked curiously, "So how are you carrying all three? One in each hand?"

Tsuna grinned.

"I've got my ways."

He activated his Storm-attribute Shikai — Sistema C.A.I..

Placing Chad onto one floating barrier, he summoned two more beneath Mayuri and Nemu, lifting all three without touching them.

He had no intention of making physical contact.

Who knew what kind of hidden toxins or traps they might carry?

Better safe than sorry.

After parting ways, Tsuna followed Uryū's directions to Squad 4.

The journey was surprisingly smooth.

He didn't pick up any additional "patients" along the way.

At Squad 4's entrance, things were orderly.

Healers moved efficiently, with none of the chaos seen in other divisions.

But Tsuna's Shikai immediately drew attention.

"Captain Mayuri? Lieutenant Nemu?! What happened to them?!"

"Quick—inform the Third Seat!"

Soon, a Shinigami with triangular yellow hair rushed out.

"I'm Iemura Yasochika, Third Seat of Squad 4. What happened? These injuries… they look like arrow wounds."

As expected of Squad 4—

He identified the damage instantly.

"Then I'll leave them in your care," Tsuna said.

"…You're not from any division. And that one isn't a Shinigami either."

Only now did Iemura notice.

Tension spread instantly.

A non-Shinigami appearing in the Seireitei—

That could only mean one thing.

Ryoka.

Weapons were raised—though many only carried medical tools.

"Apologies, but if you are a Ryoka, I cannot allow you inside," Iemura said, drawing his Zanpakutō.

"Alright then. I'll leave Squad 12 to you. We'll go."

Tsuna had no intention of causing trouble here.

He prepared to leave with Chad—

"Please bring the injured inside, Ryoka."

A gentle voice echoed from within.

Everyone stepped aside.

Two women emerged.

The one in front wore a captain's haori—

Long braided hair draped over her chest, her presence calm and warm.

Unohana Retsu, Captain of Squad 4.

Behind her stood her vice-captain—

Kotetsu Isane.

"Captain, they might have been injured by him—" Iemura began.

"Squad 4 exists to heal. Saving lives comes first," Unohana said softly. "Please, bring them in."

"…My name is Sawada Tsunayoshi."

Tsuna guided the injured inside.

Under Unohana's leadership, Squad 4 upheld strict principles.

Even Chad, a non-Shinigami, was treated equally and taken into emergency care.

With nothing to do, Tsuna wandered the barracks.

He soon found a group of loud, restrained Shinigami—bound hand and foot, shouting about getting revenge on "that archer."

Clearly—

Uryū's handiwork.

No wonder he didn't want to come here.

Moving past them, Tsuna entered another room—

A higher-level ward.

There, he saw familiar faces:

Komamura Sajin, unconscious

Iba Tetsuzaemon, standing guard

Abarai Renji

Zaraki Kenpachi

All laid out on beds.

It seemed—

Anyone with real strength ended up here.
