Chapter 1 - The Birth in the Rain

Chapter 1 — The Birth in the Rain

This is the Abyssal Continent.

A land ruled by two supreme clans—the Xuan Clan and the Inghe Clan.

At the same time, in this world, mortals cultivate and ascend to become immortals.

Tonight, rain pours heavily…

and within the Xuan Clan, a "monster" is about to be born.

Dark clouds swallowed the sky completely, leaving no trace of moonlight.

Thunder roared again and again, shaking the very earth, while cold rain fell like needles from the heavens.

At the heart of the Xuan Clan stood a massive hall—

a place where only the most powerful figures were allowed to enter.

Torches flickered along the walls, their flames struggling against the wind that slipped in through the cracks.

The shadows they cast danced like living creatures… twisting, stretching… as if something unseen was watching.

Inside the hall, several elders sat in silence.

Their robes were heavy, their presence even heavier.

Every single one of them carried power capable of crushing ordinary cultivators without effort.

Yet tonight… their focus was not on cultivation.

It was on bloodline.

"Our Xuan Clan is blessed. From our clan, three gods have ascended to the heavens… because they possess the great bloodline of the Xuan Clan—'The Bloody God Bloodline.'"

The voice came from the man seated at the highest position.

His expression was calm, but his eyes held absolute authority.

He was not just the leader of the clan…

he was its foundation.

"Clan Leader, you are right. Just imagine—if this bloodline awakens in your grandchild, we will have a fourth god. Then we can attack the Inghe Clan, enslave them, and no one on this continent will be able to stand against us."

Greed flickered in the elder's eyes as he spoke.

The very thought of dominance over the entire continent made his breath slightly heavier.

"Yes… you are right, but—"

The leader's fingers tapped slowly against the armrest.

"But what, Clan Leader?"

The leader's gaze shifted toward the speaker—cold and sharp.

"First, don't call me Clan Leader. I am your father. And second… this bloodline is extremely rare. Even after millions of years, only three gods have ever possessed it."

"Yes, that is true. For the past thirteen thousand years, no child with this bloodline has been born, but—"

"But what? It is not that common."

The elder lowered his head slightly, but his voice remained firm.

"Father… according to our records, when the previous gods were still in their mother's womb, their mothers spent most of their time alone… they avoided everyone, spoke to no one, and remained isolated in their rooms. The same symptoms are appearing in my wife, Yi'r… so there is a high chance she will give birth to a child with the bloodline."

Silence.

Even the sound of rain outside seemed to fade for a moment.

"Hmm… you may be right. In fact, I have also heard that in the Inghe Clan, the wife of the clan leader's son is showing similar symptoms—just like the mothers of the previous gods."

The leader's eyes narrowed slightly.

"If both clans give birth to such children at the same time…"

He did not finish his sentence.

But everyone understood.

The fragile balance between Xuan and Inghe…

could be shattered.

BANG!

The massive doors of the hall burst open.

A guard rushed inside, drenched from head to toe, his body trembling—not from cold, but urgency.

"SECT LEADER!! Lady Yin is about to give birth!"

For a brief moment… no one moved.

Then—

The leader stood up.

In a single step, the pressure in the hall changed.

"Let's go."

Outside, the rain had grown even heavier.

Water flowed through the stone paths like small rivers, reflecting flashes of lightning that split the sky.

The group moved quickly through the clan grounds, their robes fluttering violently in the storm.

Yet none of them spoke.

Because deep inside…

they all felt it.

Something was wrong.

Far from the grand hall…

in a secluded corner of the clan—

stood a small residence, almost forgotten by the world.

Unlike the luxurious buildings of the main clan, this place was quiet… and slightly worn.

Inside—

chaos.

Servants rushed back and forth, their faces pale with panic.

"Quick! Bring more hot water!"

"Where is the healer?! Hurry!"

"She's losing strength!"

On the bed lay a woman.

Her breathing was uneven, her body trembling with pain… yet her eyes refused to close.

Lady Yin.

Once respected… now isolated.

Not because she was weak—

but because of what she carried.

Another scream echoed through the room.

Lightning flashed—

and for a split second…

every shadow in the room twisted unnaturally.

One of the servants froze, her hands shaking.

"…Did you see that?"

"See what?! Don't stop, keep helping her!"

"No… the shadow… it just—"

CRACK!!

Thunder exploded, silencing her words.

Lady Yin's fingers tightened against the sheets.

Her vision blurred.

Her body felt like it was being torn apart…

but somewhere deep inside—

she felt something else.

Cold.

Endless… cold.

As if something from the abyss itself

was trying to be born through her.

Outside the residence—

the clan leader arrived.

He stopped at the entrance.

For the first time…

a faint frown appeared on his face.

Because even he—

could feel it now.

Not just power.

Not just bloodline.

Something far more dangerous…

something that did not belong to the natural order of this world.

And as another bolt of lightning split the sky—

a newborn's cry was about to echo through the Xuan Clan…

but what would be born tonight…

…was not something the heavens had prepared for.
