Chapter 2 - Baptismal Blood

His first step produced no sound.

His second… neither.

The nameless world remained silent — not because it was peaceful, but because silence was its law.

Yet something had changed.

The ground beneath the man's feet — who was now beginning to possess awareness — was no longer passive. Small cracks spread each time he moved, as if the world itself refused to support his existence.

Or perhaps —

he was the one beginning to reject the world.

His breathing was heavy.

Every inhale felt like swallowing invisible shards of glass. His chest rose and fell unevenly, yet he did not stop.

He kept walking.

Without direction.

Without purpose.

But with something beginning to grow within him —

an urge.

The cracked sky slowly shifted.

Not moving… but watching.

As if this world was not a place —

but a creature.

And that creature… was hungry.

KRRAAAK —

The ground before him split open.

Not a small crack.

A mouth.

Dark. Deep. Endless.

And from within —

something emerged.

The creature had no fixed form.

Its flesh was like black liquid, constantly shifting, mimicking shapes that were never complete. At times it resembled a distorted human. At others, a beast with far too many jaws.

But one thing remained constant —

mouths.

Many. Too many.

And all of them… hungry.

The man stopped.

His body trembled.

Not from fear.

Because his body did not yet know fear.

But because —

his instinct screamed.

The creature attacked.

Without warning. Without motion.

It was in front of him in one moment —

and in the next, its jaws were already open, ready to devour his face.

Reflex.

Something within him moved faster than his thoughts.

He raised his hand.

Too late.

KRAAAAK —

The jaws bit down.

Blood sprayed.

But it was not his head that was destroyed —

it was his left arm.

Flesh torn apart.

Bone shattered.

And for the first time —

he felt something new.

Pain.

Not merely a sensation.

It was a storm.

Fire spreading from the wound through his entire body. Every nerve screamed. Every cell tried to reject the reality that a part of him had been lost.

His mouth opened —

and this time —

sound was born.

"AAARRRRGHHH — !!"

The scream tore through the silence of the world.

And the world… responded.

The sky cracked deeper. The ground pulsed. The air, which previously did not exist, now trembled.

As if —

pain was the language this world understood.

The creature paused.

Not because it was full.

But because… it was intrigued.

The man fell to his knees.

His left arm… half gone.

Blood flowed endlessly, dripping onto the thirsty ground.

Yet strangely —

the ground did not absorb the blood.

It… drank it.

And the moment the first drop touched the earth —

something happened.

DUM.

The pulse in his chest returned.

Stronger.

DUM.

His blood stopped flowing outward.

Instead —

it moved.

As if alive.

As if it had a will of its own.

The creature attacked again.

Faster.

More vicious.

But this time —

the man moved first.

His remaining hand seized the creature's jaw.

His flesh tore upon contact, yet he did not let go.

His eyes — once empty —

now burned with something wild.

understanding.

If I do not devour it… I will be devoured.

There was no strategy.

No technique.

Only one law —

devour or be devoured.

He pulled.

With a strength his own body could not comprehend.

RRAAAKKK — !!!

The jaws split apart.

The creature writhed, trying to escape, trying to reshape itself —

but the man gave it no chance.

He bit.

Black blood.

Flesh that should not exist.

An essence that felt like poison —

all of it entered his body.

And the world… reacted.

The sky fractured deeper.

The ground trembled.

Something unseen began to gather around his body.

A ritual.

Not one created.

But one that occurred.

His body convulsed violently.

His flesh cracked.

His bones changed.

His blood boiled.

He should have died.

That creature was not something a human could consume.

Yet —

he was no longer entirely human.

DUM.

The symbol on his chest ignited.

The black lines moved as if alive, spreading across his entire body.

DUM.

His left arm —

which had been lost —

began to form again.

But not as before.

Darker.

Harder.

More… foreign.

The creature screamed.

Not from pain.

But from —

fear.

For the first time —

the predator realized —

it was no longer the hunter.

It was the prey.

The man stood.

His body still damaged.

But now —

he possessed something new.

power.

He stepped forward.

The creature stepped back.

And without hesitation —

he ended it.

CRAAASH — !!

The creature's body shattered.

Not only physically —

but its existence.

Crushed.

Absorbed.

Erased.

Silence returned.

But this time —

it was not empty.

The ground around him changed color.

Dark.

Like a stain that could never be erased.

And in the center —

the man stood.

Blood flowed across his body.

But no longer as a sign of injury —

rather as a sign of birth.

He looked at his hand.

Clenched his fingers.

Felt a strength that had not existed before.

And for the first time —

he understood something.

This world is not a place to live.

He drew a breath.

Deep.

Heavy.

This world is a place to survive… or to become food.

His gaze rose to the fractured sky.

And in an unseen depth —

something smiled.

"He learns faster than the others…"

Back on the ground —

the man stepped forward once more.

But now —

he no longer walked without direction.

He walked with a new law carved into his blood —

If this world thirsts for blood…

then I will drown it.

And without knowing —

that this small step was the beginning of the destruction of thousands of worlds —

he continued forward.

Toward the next baptism.
