Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 — The Multi-Boss Threat

The streets were eerily quiet. Smoke still curled from ruined buildings, and the distant echoes of collapse reminded Adrian that the city was far from safe. He led his group forward, dagger in hand, eyes scanning every shadow. Mira's flames flickered faintly, Leo gripped his plank tightly, and Tobias moved low, scanning for movement.

Adrian's mind was focused. The first wave had been dangerous, but the next one—he could feel it—would be far worse.

The black gates above shimmered ominously. From them, three massive creatures dropped simultaneously. Unlike any monsters before, each was unique. One was a hulking armored brute with spikes covering its arms. Another had multiple limbs and glowing eyes, moving unnaturally fast. The third was smaller but cunning, darting between attacks and striking from unpredictable angles.

Adrian stopped and observed. He didn't speak. Every muscle in his body was alert.

"These are your real tests," he said finally. "Follow my commands exactly. Hesitate and you die."

Mira's eyes widened. "They're… huge."

"You'll adapt," Adrian replied calmly. "Or die trying."

The three monsters charged at once. The hulking brute swung a massive claw at Adrian. He rolled beneath it, striking the weak joint with a clean slash. Sparks flew as the armor cracked slightly.

Mira sent fire at the multi-limbed creature, forcing it to retreat momentarily. Leo swung his plank at the hulking brute, distracting it just enough to create an opening. Tobias jabbed repeatedly at the smaller, agile creature, trying to predict its movements.

Adrian's Tactical Command ability activated. A subtle signal—a hand gesture—boosted his group's efficiency. Mira's flames burned hotter, Leo's strikes hit harder, and Tobias moved with slightly more precision.

Despite the boost, it was chaos. The hulking brute reached Tobias with a crushing claw. Tobias barely dodged, stumbling back. The creature's claw slammed into the ground, sending debris flying.

Adrian didn't hesitate. He leapt onto the creature's arm, striking its exposed joint repeatedly. It roared in pain, staggering back.

Mira's flames struck the multi-limbed creature again, forcing it to shift its focus. Leo's plank hit a vulnerable spot on the brute, cracking its armor. Tobias, inspired, jabbed at the smaller creature, finally landing a critical blow.

Adrian's eyes scanned constantly, calculating patterns, anticipating openings. He noticed a synchronized rhythm in the multi-limbed creature. One moment, it was vulnerable; the next, the hulking brute left an arm slightly exposed.

He signaled again, boosting the group with Tactical Command. The team moved like one unit. Mira's flames struck precisely, Leo distracted perfectly, Tobias attacked at the right moment. Adrian struck the weak points, landing critical hits in rapid succession.

The hulking brute fell first, collapsing in a shower of black fragments. The multi-limbed creature followed, its glowing eyes dimming. Only the smaller, cunning monster remained.

It darted between attacks, striking unpredictably. Tobias froze, terrified, and the creature slashed at him. Mira reacted too late—fire missed the target.

Adrian lunged, placing himself between Tobias and the monster. His dagger struck the creature's flank, buying Tobias enough time to recover.

"You can't hesitate," Adrian said sharply. "If you freeze, you die."

Tobias nodded, gripping his pipe tighter. Adrian shifted, striking the final creature's weak point repeatedly until it finally collapsed.

The street fell silent. Dust and smoke hung in the air. The group was battered but alive.

Adrian wiped his dagger clean, surveying the battlefield. More black gates shimmered in the distance. He could feel the next wave approaching.

The system displayed new information:

[LEVEL UP — ADRIAN VANCE: 6 → 7]

[NEW SKILL UNLOCKED — SYSTEM ANALYSIS: Reveals enemy weak points and patterns in real time]

Adrian ignored the glowing panel for now. Survival came first.

He turned to his group. "This isn't over. Every gate is a threat. Every monster will try to kill you. Adapt, or die."

Mira, Leo, and Tobias nodded silently, their trust in Adrian stronger than ever.

The city was far from safe. The gates pulsed ominously. And Adrian knew the system had far deadlier challenges in store.

"…We're only getting started," he muttered.
