Chapter 129 - Chapter 133: Azure Flame

When Xingyun Liuge slipped past her with effortless ease, Goodbye Halo swallowed hard.

She realized her guess had been completely wrong.

This move of Xingyun Liuge's did not merely seem to forbid the use of Domains within a small area around her. It looked more like it directly restricted the racers themselves.

Otherwise, how could all of them have been utterly unable to call upon their Domains, forced to do nothing but watch as Xingyun Liuge kept advancing and casually left them behind?

There was no way the condition for using a Domain was literal point-blank contact. That simply made no sense.1GaL2

And because of that, when Xingyun Liuge so casually lifted the silence imposed on them, Goodbye Halo failed to activate her own Domain at the first possible moment.

Her friend and longtime rival seized the initiative instead.

The azure phoenix spread its wings over the track once more!

With the race already nearing its final phase, Winning Colors opened at full power from the very start.

She knew it well: probing and feinting were meaningless. Only by going all out in one breath could she possibly find a path to victory.

And in that instant, flames surged skyward, and the storm was born alongside them.

The blue fire rode shrieking gale-force winds, and in the blink of an eye it gave birth to a towering tornado of flame that seemed to connect earth and heaven.

The blue blaze roared. The storm howled.

Had the sky not already been replaced by that primordial expanse of outer darkness, the clouds above would surely have been sucked into the vortex and become fuel for its further expansion.1GaL2

Even so, the sheer spectacle of it was terrifying enough, as though it meant to swallow the horse girls whole!

Goodbye Halo and Latifah each used the manifested power of their spirits to resist the scorching heat.

At that moment, Risen Star was in a painfully awkward position.

Xingyun Liuge and Winning Colors had passed her one after another, while the other two were more or less relying on Domain manifestations to fend off Winning Colors' all-out assault—

yet she could do nothing at all!1GaL2

She did not know what kind of debuff had been placed on her. All she knew was that she still could not use her Domain, and that left her like a tiny boat tossed helplessly amid a sea of burning air, perilously close to capsizing.

Winning Colors did not spare Risen Star a glance.

The only thing reflected in her eyes was Xingyun Liuge's fearless, unrestrained figure.

The blazing currents released by the fire tornado and the raging blue flames seemed completely incapable of affecting Xingyun Liuge. They could not even slow her footsteps.1GaL2

More astonishing still, Xingyun Liuge no longer appeared to be using her Domain at all. That dazzling nebula had not reappeared, nor had the cosmic void that had replaced the sky undergone any further changes.

Was her raw ability simply so overwhelming that she could ignore Winning Colors' interference outright?

Or was the nebula's effect still ongoing, only hidden from view?

Winning Colors did not know.

She only wanted to contend with Xingyun Liuge to the bitter end.1GaL2

"Ahhh!"

Her azure hair streamed wildly in the wind as she let out a ragged, desperate cry.

Then her iron-shod hoof struck the ground—

and the blazing blue storm detached itself from her body and surged toward Xingyun Liuge!

The dirt on the track was ripped up in sheets and hurled into the air, then instantly baked dry by the searing heat, reduced to brittle dust, and finally ground into particles so fine they simply vanished from existence.

It had become a warped monster, one that existed only to tear apart everything it touched with berserk violence.1GaL2

Even the railings let out a shrill metallic groan, as though they too were on the verge of twisting apart and being dragged skyward like the dust already consumed.

The crowd could not see the horrifying scene unfolding on the track.

They had no idea that, if this force were to fully materialize, the entire racecourse would be facing destruction.

All they knew was to scream themselves hoarse in excitement, praying that the horse girl daring to challenge Xingyun Liuge would give them a duel even more thrilling than before.

They did not know that along the path of that flaming storm, the earth itself was being ravaged by an invisible giant hand—ripped up, shredded, pulverized. All those fragments whirled at high speed within the gale, turning into a storm of cutting destruction.

Even particles too small for the naked eye to see would carry enough force to punch clean through a human limb.1GaL2

That was the challenge standing before Xingyun Liuge.

And yet she neither dodged nor retreated.

There was not the slightest trace of panic on her face—only the excitement of someone eager to test herself.

At some point, three slowly orbiting spheres of light had appeared around her, circling along invisible tracks.

Each one shone with golden radiance, yet all three were strangely lacking in presence. Otherwise, the other horse girls should have noticed them immediately.1GaL2

Some kind of visual trick?

Then, without warning, the invisible orbit expanded outward, almost as if presenting the spheres directly before the flaming storm.

The spheres themselves did not grow any larger, while the storm remained as fearsome as ever. By all rights, the outcome of such a collision should have been obvious.

But in the next moment, the roaring flames were torn apart by an invisible hand and scattered into glittering embers.

The violent gale was stripped back to its original gentle form and quietly fled into the distance.1GaL2

Winning Colors nearly lost her breath.

She had considered the possibility that her attack would fail to accomplish anything—but she had never imagined it would be neutralized so effortlessly.

Had it not done anything at all?

Still, tense or not, her plan would not change. A horse girl who yearned for victory had no right to stop halfway.

Even if her figure had been fully revealed and she could no longer launch the surprise strike she had intended.

"Winning Colors! Winning Colors is biting down hard on Xingyun Liuge's heels! The gap between them is barely a neck! Can Winning Colors do it?" The announcer seemed hardly able to breathe at all, as though he feared even his own breath might upset the balance between the two and cause Winning Colors to fall short.1GaL2

Her classmates and juniors waved flags and signs with all their might, shouting themselves hoarse:

"Go! Winning Colors! Go!"

The azure phoenix had vanished.

It had fused into Winning Colors herself, forming a pair of magnificent wings spread wide behind her.

Every feather in those wings was exquisitely detailed, so vivid that one could almost imagine reaching out and brushing the down by hand.1GaL2

There were even drifting feathers in the air, as if shed from those wings, dazzling enough to leave onlookers spellbound.

Blue flames cloaked Winning Colors from head to toe, yet they brought her no sense of burning. Instead, they felt warm, like a scarf wrapped snugly around her in the depths of winter.

Winning Colors shouted:

"It's not over yet!"

Then flames burst from beneath her feet like thrusters.

Her speed leapt sharply upward—not only did she erase that neck's worth of difference, she even reversed it, pulling a nose ahead of Xingyun Liuge!

In an instant, the azure flames engulfed Xingyun Liuge as well, baring their fangs and announcing their presence.
