Max could still feel a faint connection to the rest of his body, but the sensation came from an enormous distance, so weak that he could not determine its exact location. It resembled a thin thread stretched across half the continent, pulling gently upon his soul without revealing where its other end had been buried.
"Ah... I should have left one of them alive to tell me where my body is," Max cursed as he looked across the blood-covered road.
Max stared at the corpses for several seconds before releasing another annoyed sigh.
"No matter. I simply need to return to the battlefield."
The four void blades beneath his head shifted against the stones as he turned toward the distant mountains, following the faint pull he believed would eventually lead him back toward Frankindia.
