Chapter 57 - Chapter 57

Maybe calling them zombies was not quite right. Calling them infected was not accurate either.

They should be called Spider-Devourers.

They could still feel hunger, and they could still eat normal human food, but that only made them slightly better than the Living Dead in a technical sense.

Every one of them had developed some kind of spider-like symptom. Some had grown countless extra eyes and become much stronger. Some had grown eight legs. Some could jump absurdly high. Some could swing on webs. But they all shared the same traits: their skin had turned a sickly blue-green, and their pupils had become cloudy.

Even in that state, though, they were not all that much stronger than before. After all, they were not Spider-Man. They were merely Spider-Devourers with fragments of spider-like abilities.

And who was controlling them?

Ultimate Devourer Spider Peter.

...

Meanwhile, inside the control room, the fat slob Kingpin swaggered in with heated excitement in his eyes and said, "Start the program."

"Yes, sir!"

"Upload the genetic sequences for Vanessa Fisk and Richard Fisk."

"Beginning spatial compatibility search..."

Inside the control room's server chamber, Doctor Octopus also received Kingpin's instructions.

Working on several tasks at once, she quickly adjusted the data preparations before the collider ignition.

[Initializing primary ignition sequence.]

The Quantum Accelerator began spinning up at high speed.

Two streams of quantum energy containing terrifying power shot out from distant coils and, under the restraint of the surrounding magnetic fields, raced all the way forward until they finally reached the collider core.

[Secondary ignition countdown begins.]

[Five]

[Four]

[Three]

When the countdown ended, the two brilliant quantum streams fired out from the twin accelerators, one from the left and one from the right, and slammed into each other.

The entire borough of Brooklyn shook.

On the streets, streetlights, houses, skyscrapers, bridges... everything began to twist and distort.

Peter and the others had already reached the collider chamber, but they could only watch helplessly as the quantum streams collided.

As the Quantum Dimensional Distortion spread, every Spider-Person from another universe felt intense discomfort.

Peter was the only one completely unaffected.

"Hey, man, why do you look totally fine?!"

Spider-Noir asked.

"Because of this." Peter revealed the high-tech virtual wrist device on his arm and said, "It's basically a dimensional pass, so this world doesn't reject me."

"Where did you even get something like that?!"

"I'd rather not say."

"He has always had way too many secrets. Whatever. That's just how he is. Always acting mysterious."

After recovering, Gwen nudged Peter with her elbow, then turned and spoke to the others.

"In that case, you can stay behind and finish the mission yourself."

The older Spider-Man said it half as a joke.

"Relax. Someone is staying behind to finish the mission, but it isn't going to be us. Someone else is coming."

Peter said with a grin.

"You're still waiting for Miles, huh?! That kid isn't coming. Give it up already."

Porker curled his lip.

"Then maybe I should stay. I don't really have much left to hold on to anyway..."

"No. You still have to go back and punch Nazi scum, right?! I'm different. My world has plenty of geniuses. It doesn't need one more fourteen-year-old spider girl."

"Oh, shut up already! What is this, some tragic soap opera? None of us are dying here. I guarantee it. That guy just hasn't reached his entrance cue yet."

Peter continued,

"Come on, everyone. Time to tear this place apart."

They truly did not have much time left.

The activation of the Quantum Collider would do catastrophic damage to the world's very foundation. This version of Earth might not be able to withstand that kind of pressure. If the planet started splitting from the core outward, the scale of the disaster would be unimaginable.

At that moment, a group of armed thugs appeared from who knew where, raising submachine guns and sweeping their infrared sights across every Spider-Person there.

Without a word, all the Spider-People leaped into action at the same time, swinging into battle on their webs.

Gwen dove down first. With her agile movements and incredible speed, she rapidly took down wave after wave of gunmen.

Peter turned into a killing machine. Relying on the Spider Suit's absurd durability, he strolled right through the crowd with a handgun in hand and slaughtered his way forward.

As soon as one pistol ran dry, he tossed it aside, snagged a submachine gun off the floor with webbing, and opened fire again, seeming to grow more exhilarated the more he killed.

On the other side, Spider-Noir held nothing back either. His methods were almost the same as Peter's. The only difference was that he was not used to twenty-first-century firearms at first. Once he figured out how they worked, he joined in the carnage without hesitation.

Porker worked together with Peni, who was piloting her mech, charging through the crowd and wiping out batch after batch of enemies.

As for the older Spider-Man, even though he had put on weight, his strength had multiplied with age. He stopped holding back too, sending one nameless thug flying with every punch.

Then suddenly, the hatch above them was smashed open. From the hole overhead crawled a mass of slime-covered tentacles, all lunging straight at the older Spider-Man.

"You really have a thing for me, huh..."

The older Spider-Man complained as he grabbed two of the tentacles attacking him and yanked with all his might, forcibly tearing them right off.

"But I am not interested in you at all."

Yet the slimy tentacles seemed to have regenerative abilities. The two he had ripped off regenerated almost instantly, and even the severed tentacles in his hands seemed to react to something, coiling around him tightly.

"Peter, Peter, Peter! My dear little Peter~"

Doctor Octopus cackled madly as she crawled out through the opening. Two mechanical tentacles anchored themselves tightly to the ceiling, while the other two lashed relentlessly at the older Spider-Man.

"I've missed you so much~"

"Making a lady miss you that badly is terribly rude, you know~"

At the same time, from somewhere else came a flying iron-clad birdman, and this birdman was no joke. He possessed not only tremendous physical power, but also technology that was unbelievably advanced.

His name was Adrian Toomes. He had originally been the owner of a salvage company, basically a junk collection business, but because of the Ultimate Spider-Man of this world, the government tore up its contract with him and drove him into bankruptcy.

With nowhere left to turn, he met Kingpin and devoted himself to defeating Spider-Man.

And now, he had set his sights on Spider-Noir.

Because in his eyes, the two of them looked alike. Both were all gray and gloomy. Maybe killing a Spider-Man dressed in the same color palette would make him feel better.
