Chapter 2 - EP 2 :THE GIRL IN TREEHOUSE

đź“– DIMENSION X

The fire slowly faded.

Silence filled the treehouse.

Zayn stood frozen, staring at the spot where flames had just wrapped around his leg. His heart was still racing.

No one spoke.

Evie stood in the corner, breathing heavily, her eyes still glowing faintly.

Ryan was the first to move.

"Okay… nobody panic," he said, raising his hands slightly.

"Don't panic?" Zayn snapped. "She literally tried to burn me alive!"

"I didn't mean to…" Evie whispered, her voice shaking.

Everyone turned to look at her.

She looked… terrified.

Not dangerous.

Just scared.

The group slowly stepped back and turned away from her, forming a small circle.

"What do we do?" Arjun whispered.

"We run," Zayn said immediately.

Maya rolled her eyes. "Yeah, great plan. Leave the mysterious fire girl alone in a treehouse. Genius."

Layla crossed her arms. "I vote we don't die today."

Ryan sighed. "Guys, she's not a threat. She's just—"

"—just what?" Zayn interrupted. "A random stranger with fire powers??"

"Don't judge a book by its cover," Ryan said.

There was a pause.

Then everyone turned to him at the same time.

"DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER??"

Ryan winced. "Okay, yeah… bad timing."

A sudden sound interrupted them.

Thud.

They turned back.

Evie collapsed.

"Hey—HEY!" Ryan rushed forward, catching her before she hit the floor.

"She fainted?" Arjun said.

"Or she's pretending," Zayn muttered.

Maya smirked. "If she wakes up and sets you on fire again, I'm not helping."

Ryan gently lifted Evie into his arms. "She just needs rest."

They moved quickly.

Ryan carried her into his house and laid her carefully on his bed.

Everyone stood around awkwardly, staring.

For a moment, nothing happened.

Then—

A soft glow appeared above Evie.

Tiny light particles floated in the air, pulsing gently like fireflies.

"What… is that?" Arjun whispered.

Maya reached up and touched one.

She blinked.

"…okay that tickles."

Layla laughed quietly.

Suddenly—

Evie's eyes snapped open.

She sat up quickly, backing away into the wall.

Her breathing became uneven.

Ryan stepped forward slowly.

"Hey… it's okay," he said softly. "We're not gonna hurt you."

He handed her a glass of water.

She stared at it suspiciously.

Then slowly took it.

Her hands trembled as she drank.

"What's your name?" Ryan asked gently.

Evie hesitated.

Her eyes moved from one face to another.

Then she whispered,

"If I tell you… you can't tell anyone."

Maya shrugged. "We barely tell our parents anything anyway."

Evie shook her head.

"No… it's a curse."

The room went silent.

"Put your hands on mine," she said.

Layla raised an eyebrow. "If I die, I'm blaming all of you."

One by one, they placed their hands over hers.

Her hands were cold.

"If you tell anyone about me…" Evie whispered, "you die."

Arjun blinked. "…okay wow, that's intense."

"My name is… Evelyn."

Ryan smiled slightly. "Evie?"

She looked at him.

After a moment, she nodded.

"…Evie."

Slowly, she began to speak.

She told them about being an experiment.

About a place far away.

A different world.

She spoke of strange people… powers… and being forced to do things she didn't understand.

"They kicked us out," she said quietly. "Me and my dad."

"You don't know his name?" Maya asked.

Evie shook her head. "He just… says he's my dad."

Ryan watched her carefully.

Something felt… off.

But he didn't say anything.

"Alright," Layla said, clapping once. "First things first—you need a bath."

Maya nodded. "Yeah, no offense, but you look like you fought a forest and lost."

Evie blinked, confused, but followed them.

In the bathroom—

Layla crossed her arms. "Rule one: we don't attack people."

Maya added, "Rule two: we use shampoo. Not whatever you were doing before."

Evie watched them carefully.

Learning.

Trusting… just a little.

As Maya gently brushed her hair, Evie whispered,

"You're… nice."

Layla smirked. "Don't tell anyone. I have a reputation."

Outside, the boys argued.

"We're seriously hiding her?" Zayn said.

"She needs help," Ryan replied.

"You brought her here," Zayn shot back.

Arjun grinned. "Yeah bro, this is officially your responsibility now."

Ryan rolled his eyes. "Oh, so now it's my fault?"

From inside, Layla shouted,

"YES!"

That night, they all gathered in the treehouse again.

A decision was made.

Everyone stays.

Together.

They settled in, squeezing into the small space.

Evie sat quietly beside Ryan.

"You okay?" he asked.

She looked at him.

"…I don't know."

He smiled softly.

"It's okay. You're safe here."

For the first time…

She believed it.

From the corner, Maya whispered to Layla,

"Ohhh, look at them."

Layla smirked. "Love at first sight?"

Zayn groaned. "He met her like five hours ago."

Arjun nodded seriously. "Scientifically possible."

"SHUT UP," Ryan said.

Evie looked confused.

"What is… love at first sight?"

Everyone froze.

Ryan covered his face.

"Please ignore them."

Far away…

Deep in the forest…

Something moved.

A tall, shadowy figure stepped between the trees.

Its glowing eyes scanned the darkness.

Its chest pulsed with faint blue light.

It stopped.

Then slowly turned…

Toward the town.

Toward Evie.

To be continued...
