Chapter 1 - Black stones

Drip! Drip!

Raindrops fell on semi-smooth black stones, the intervals between droplets quickly picked up, until the nearly flat terrain was entrenched in a never ending barrage of heavy liquid particles.

Crunch! Crunch!

Under heavy brown boots, the small smooth stones made a light crunching sound, as they were displaced, however this sound couldn't compare to the roaring of the downpour around it. It was like comparing an obnoxious crying infant to a cell phone text notification.

Only the obnoxious crying infant, in this case sounded quite calming and relaxing, if someone were in doors while listening to the ceaseless bombardment, then they might have a truly mythical nap.

Humph! Humph!

A man in a heavy black cloak walked slowly down the mountains, almost flat terrain. His cloak covered most of his physical features, Almost reaching past his knee's. while a very dark grey set of pants covered the rest. The man has a black lantern hanging from around his waist, one that radiated a pure while light, the light was rather strange, it looked as though it was coming forth from a small pulsating flame.

On the man's back there was a person, she was short with blond hair and currently equipped with a brown cloak, black pants, and black boots.

The young woman currently believed that she was in the middle of the sea, the waves were crashing into the large pirate ship, there was a inconvincible large storm causing tyrannical rain to crash into her, no matter how hard she tried the doorknob to the captain's cabin wouldn't open. She franticly and desperately tried to twist the handle, but no matter how hard she tried the handle wouldn't move, it was as if it were made from stone.

The gargantuan waves crashed into the stern of the ship, the wave was so large that it climbed up onto the deck, crashing into the mast. The ship began to tilt as she looked at another large incoming wave, this wave had to have been a few stories tall, fear ran throughout her body as she closed her eye's and instinctively moved her arms to cover her head.

When nothing happened, she reopened her blue eye's to find she was back on the mountain. The sickening mountain made from black stone. Though there was something peculiar about her current situation.

'Am I currently being kidnapped?'

The rain continued to pelt the back of her head, the force somewhat weakened by her heavy cloak.

She briefly considered incinerating the man with her flame. From this range almost anyone could pull it off, but she hesitated.

"Are you awake?"

The voice sounded somewhat soft, and seemingly lacked emotion, but if definitely belonged to a dude.

There was a bit of a pause before she responded with a warranted cautious tone.

"Who are you?"

The man continued walking for several steps before responding, it was as though he was in deep thought, about a rather simple question.

"I'm Oberon, but people call me Obie."

The girl repeated his name.

"O-be.."

"You're that missing girl right?"

The girl sounded outraged. "I wasn't missing! I was going to challenge the first trail!"

The steps continued at a steady pace.

"Alone? That's a good way to go hollow."

The girl wanted to retort, but the man spoke before she could.

"I found you unconscious in the angel's pass, you were lying next to a charred Lycan corpse. You're cloths had severe large cuts, and were soaked in blood, but you didn't have a single visible wound…"

Obie became silent, seemingly realizing that it was not his place to pry, the girl kept quiet.

The incline gradually grew soon it was apparent that they were indeed walking down the mountain, something akin to a 25 degree angle.

The wind began to pick up, blowing down the mountain relentlessly, a gust suddenly hit Obie's back, almost making him fall forward.

"There is a cave beyond the ridge, there is a rope that leads there."

The girl quickly squirmed off the man's back and walked behind him, she was quiet as she moved her cloak slightly and starred at a pink lantern hanging at her waist. She had overused her flame and was in a heavily weakened state.

As they approached the ridge with the black sky resting beyond it, Obie stared intently forward, noticing a single speck of a grey light, Obie suddenly froze in place and grabbed his black lantern emitting a pure white light, and held it in his right hand, he also raised his arm, making the lantern parallel with his chest.

The large gust blew causing his cloak to flutter in the wind, the girl quickly moved her hair blond hair away from her face.

"What's wrong?"

Suddenly a large gray hand reached for him amidst the darkness. The flame was pulsating and seemingly losing shape it was as if were made from fire. The hand was gigantic, it was much larger then Obie, and floating a meter above the ground.

The flame within the lantern suddenly sprang fourth, shooting forward through the middle of the hand, as the pure white beam of light went through the hand, the outer edges of the grey hand seemingly lost control drizzled downwards, and faded into the the darkness.

Obie suddenly broke the silence.

"Marauder."

The girl was stunned, before panic set in. She had used far too much her flame on the pack of Lycan's and hasn't had proper time for it to replenish.

A second much larger gray hand suddenly appeared from above, seemingly preparing to crush both of them as it made a hammer fist.

Several beams of white light shot from Obie's lantern, piercing the hand, but they didn't seem to have much of an effect on the giant hand. Obie and the girl rolled in separate directions while the hand crashed into the ground with a trembling explosion. The hand suddenly moved from the ground, opening, each finger was about the size of Obie.

Suddenly Obie shot a piercing bolt into the darkness and the hand suddenly dispelled, withering into the darkness.

Obie's white lantern continued to illuminate some of the surroundings as he walked near the ridge, he came across a man lying down with a hole in his side. The man was still alive and holding onto a grey lantern. But the fire within the lantern was reaching for the hole in his stomach.

The girl appeared from the darkness with a surprised expression.

"Are you not going to finish him off?"

Obie turned his head toward the ridge.

"Let's keep moving."

She stared at the man on the ground intently.

The man on the ground watched them leave with a disgusted expression.
