Chapter 65 - Chapter 65 : When the World Answered

The moment didn't break; it changed. Something shifted in the air. Not violently. Not suddenly. But undeniably. The space around them responded. Not to his power, but to them. Mira felt it first. A subtle pull. Like the world itself was leaning closer.

"…Aditya…"

He didn't answer. He felt it too. Not the battlefield. Not the past. Something else. The ground beneath their feet hummed faintly. The air grew heavier, but not oppressive. Alive. Mira stepped back slightly. Not in fear, but in awareness.

"…this isn't you, is it?"

Aditya shook his head slowly.

"…no."

The space around them bent, not distorting, but aligning. Like something unseen was recognizing them. Then a faint light formed between them. Not bright. Not blinding. Soft. Almost warm. Mira stared at it.

"…what is that?"

Aditya didn't answer. He didn't know. But he understood one thing—it wasn't separate from them. It was because of them. The light pulsed once. And for a brief moment, everything else faded. No city. No ground. Just them—and something beyond understanding. Then it vanished. The world snapped back. The air settled. Silence returned. But it was not the same silence. A different one. Heavier. Realizing.

"…that just happened," Mira said quietly.

"…yeah."

Neither of them moved. Now this wasn't just about feelings. It wasn't just about connection. Something deeper had responded. Something they didn't fully understand yet.

"…we should probably pretend that didn't happen," Mira muttered.

"…we can try."

A faint smile touched her lips.

"…you're terrible at pretending."

"…so are you."

For a moment, it felt normal again. Almost. Until—

"…we're not the only ones who saw that."

The voice came from behind. Sharp. Measured. Both of them turned. A figure stood at the edge of the training grounds. Not a guard. Not a servant. Someone with authority. Watching.

"…what exactly was that?" he asked. His gaze didn't leave them. Not curious. Concerned. Aditya didn't respond immediately. Because the truth—he didn't have it yet.

"…nothing dangerous," he said finally.

The man didn't look convinced.

"…things like that don't happen for no reason."

A pause.

"…especially not around you."

The words weren't hostile, but they weren't trusting either. Mira stepped slightly forward.

"…it didn't harm anyone."

"…that doesn't mean it won't."

Silence settled again. The tension wasn't loud, but it was there. Growing. Aditya stepped forward this time.

"…if it becomes a problem…"

A pause.

"…I'll handle it."

The man studied him for a moment. Then nodded slightly.

"…make sure you do."

He turned and left. No more questions. But not reassured either. The space he left behind felt different. Not dangerous, but aware. Mira exhaled slowly.

"…that's going to be a problem later."

"…probably."

A small pause.

"…does it bother you?"

Aditya shook his head.

"…no."

"…why not?"

He looked at her.

"…because this matters more."

The answer came easily. Too easily. Mira looked away for a second. Not to avoid him, but to steady herself.

"…you keep saying things like that."

"…because they're true."

She let out a quiet breath.

"…I know."

A pause.

"…that's why it's hard."

The tension didn't break, but it softened. Aditya stepped closer again. Not as close as before, but enough.

"…you're still here."

Mira glanced at him.

"…so are you."

A small silence followed. Then—she leaned slightly toward him. Not fully. Not like before. Just enough to remind him—she hadn't stepped away.

"…don't disappear," she said quietly.

"…I won't."

This time he didn't hesitate. Because now it wasn't just about choosing her. It was about holding onto something—even when everything else started to react. And for the first time, he realized this connection wasn't just something he felt. It was something the world itself had begun to recognize.
