As soon as the car engine started, a loud thunder crashed in the sky, and heavy rain began to pour outside.
Elena's mind suddenly caught onto something, and she smiled to herself.
Mother Nature was helping her escape from this hell.
"If this rain continues, then I can easily blend into its haze, and no one will be able to find me easily," she thought to herself.
Nikolai's jaw clenched tightly at the sight of the rain.
If the weather kept getting worse like this, then it would be difficult for the private jet to fly.
One of his hands handled the steering wheel while the other pulled out his phone from his suit pocket to make a call.
"Hello? Yeah, prepare a yacht as well." His voice was low and commanding.
The person on the other side hesitated a little before speaking, "Boss, I can prepare the yacht, but I don't think it can move forward in the ocean. Because of the weather, the ocean is very wild, and it can turn into a terrible tornado at any time."
Nikolai threw the phone onto the backseat of the car before cutting the call.
His expression turned dark and cold.
Elena heard everything but didn't show it.
"Don't worry, my little bird. I will tear through the clouds to bring out the sun if I have to.
You can't get rid of me that easily."
His voice dropped lower, filled with possession and control.
Elena rolled her eyes at his words before speaking, her voice irritated, "You don't have any superpowers to do that. Don't think of yourself as mighty."
Nikolai's next action caught her off guard.
His hand reached out in lightning speed and grabbed the back of her hair roughly, pulling her face closer to him with a jerk.
"Getting bold, aren't you?" he growled.
"But I will fix this bratty attitude of yours, and that lesson will be very unpleasant for you."
"Just let us reach our destination, and then I will show you what happens when you talk back."
She controlled the tears that threatened to fall.
His lips curled into a smirk before he let out a mocking chuckle.
"Silence suits you very much, my little bird. But I would like to hear you scream my name later."
He let go of her hair and pushed her back against her seat like she was nothing.
His eyes turned back to the road as the wind started to get more reckless.
On the other hand, Adrian's men kept reporting from different hideouts and penthouses, but there was no sign of Elena or Nikolai.
Adrian punched the steering wheel harshly.
"FUCK!"
A loud curse left his mouth.
Adrian knew it would be difficult for them to move to another place in this heavy rain and thunderstorm, even if that was what Nikolai was planning.
But that didn't lessen Adrian's tension, not even a bit.
Because Nikolai would do anything in his power to keep Elena with him.
And Adrian would do anything to take her back—
Even if it meant destroying the whole world.
