Chapter 92 - Chapter 92: Clearing the Way (Part 2)

Clap, clap.

Chen Fan dusted off his hands and tied Wakaba and Macao back-to-back as well, adding a couple of tape seals over their mouths for good measure.

"Mmph... mmph..." They struggled to make a sound.

"You two just stay here and relax. I'll come back to rescue you whenever I remember," Chen Fan said nonchalantly.

At those words, Macao and Wakaba grew even more frantic. If they had to wait for Chen Fan to "remember," they'd be nothing but skeletons by then. Chen Fan ignored their muffled protests and continued his run.

He felt like he was having a go at every single member of Fairy Tail. If the guild represented justice in the original story, then he truly had become the Great Villain.

Shing!

Suddenly, a barrier of runes rose from the groundglowing purple enchantments.

Chen Fan didn't pay it much mind. This was Freed's specialty. He had seen Freed's Jutsu-shiki many times before.

He reached out to touch the runes, but as his power activated...

He suddenly realized something was wrong. Breathing became difficult. Chen Fan looked down to see that there wasn't just one Jutsu-shiki on the groundthere were dozens, all layered and linked together. The previous battles had given Freed ample time to prepare. That was the thing about these rune-users; if you gave them enough time, they could pull off things you'd never imagine.

"Give it up, Chen Fan! I developed these runes specifically for you. Since standard enchantments don't work on you, I decided to attack from a different angle. Everyone needs air to breathe. I've set my rune space so that if the barrier is broken, the air inside simply vanishes! The S-Class title... is mine!"

Freed shouted at Chen Fan, his sword never ceasing its rapid writing in the air. He knew his opponent was Chen Fan, the man known as "God's Hand" who had never known defeat. He didn't expect these runes to stop Chen Fan forever; he was betting on an endurance match.

Freed had plenty of magic power, while Chen Fan's abilities seemed to have a high cost. As long as Freed could outlast him, he would win. After all, a person couldn't last long without oxygen.

True power relies on the mind! Physical strength will eventually Freed was about to launch into another grand speech, but the moment he saw Chen Fan pull out a coin, his hand started to shake.

"Uh, Brother Chen Fan... we don't have to do this, right? We're all on the same team! Stop joking around! Put that dangerous thing away!" Freed stammered.

He hadn't expected Chen Fan to pull out a finishing move right away. In the previous fights, Chen Fan hadn't gone this far. Why was he being so heartless now? This could actually kill someone!

Zip!

A streak of light flashed through the air, and Freed's elaborate, expansive runes shattered instantly, leaving not a single trace behind.

Freed slumped to the ground. That had been too closethe heat from the blast had actually singed a lock of hair from his temple.

Chen Fan walked up to Freed. Just as he was about to repeat his tying-up routine, Freed spoke up. "Don't move. I'll do it myself!"

Chen Fan watched, dumbfounded, as Freed expertly tied himself up in record time. He had to hand it to the guy; Freed was a meticulous man. Chen Fan couldn't have done a better job himself.

"Beast Soul!" Elfman's voice roared as he attacked, his entire body transformed by his Take Over magic.

"You idiot, stay back!" Freed yelled.

Chen Fan preferred dealing with these power-types. He simply swatted Elfman aside, sending him flying straight into Freed.

"I knew he wouldn't let me off that easily!" Freed groaned. He knew Chen Fan's personality well; the man never took a loss without paying it back in full.

"Baryon Formation!" Lasers began to fire from a group of dolls, zeroing in on Chen Fan.

"Bickslow! No, don't!" Freed cried out again.

Bickslow was confused. He thought he was saving Freed. If the three members of the Thunder God Tribe were together, surely they could find a way to beat Chen Fan?

Sure enough, the lasers hit an invisible barrier and refracted, striking Elfman instead. Freed, who was still tangled with Elfman, was caught in the crossfire.

"Uh... sorry!" Bickslow apologized to his teammates.

In that instant, Chen Fan appeared behind Bickslow and tapped his back with a single finger. Bickslow went sailing through the air to join Elfman and Freed in a heap.

Chen Fan then turned his gaze toward Evergreen. She immediately waved her hands frantically. "No, no, no! I'm not here to fight! I'm just..."

"Mmph! Mmmph!"

Seconds later, all four of them were tied together, their mouths taped shut. Evergreen was also blindfolded for good measure. Bickslow's little dolls had been reduced to dust, leading him to curse Chen Fan as a devil for destroying his "babies."

After dealing with the Thunder God Tribe, Chen Fan ran into Lucy and Levy. The two girls struck a combat pose, but Chen Fan wasn't in the habit of hitting womenat least, not in public. If they were somewhere else, he might not mind, but this "wilderness" was currently being broadcast to a large audience via Lacrima.

"Oh! Chen Fan has encountered Lucy and Levy! Will he strike? Will 'God's Hand' become the 'Devil's Hand'? This is Jason, reporting live!"

"Gate of the Golden Bull! Open! Taurus!"

"Moo!"

Thud! Taurus had barely appeared before Chen Fan kicked him right back into the celestial world. "I'll be baaaaack..."

"Eek!" Lucy screamed in shock.

Chen Fan glanced at Lucy. She immediately clutched her chest. "W-what are you doing? I'll die before I surrender! You can't... do that to me!"

Chen Fan looked up at the sky, let out a heavy sigh, and simply turned around.

"Hey! Say something!" Lucy yelled, annoyed.

"Solid Script: Ice!" A massive character for 'Ice' appeared in the air, sending a flurry of frost toward Chen Fan to freeze him in place.

"Levy... do you really want the title of S-Class Mage that badly? If you want it, just say so. If you ask for it, I'll give it to you. But if you don't say it, how am I supposed to know? If you want it, you just have to speak up," Chen Fan said in a single breath.

"I don't want it...!" Levy yelled, her head spinning from his fast-talking.

"Well then... that's my good little Levy," Chen Fan said, leaning in with a cheeky grin.

"Don't come over here! No!" Levy grabbed Lucy's hand, and the two of them bolted.

"Geez, am I really that scary? That actually hurts my feelings," Chen Fan whispered.

He continued forward and ran into Juvia. She tried to turn her body into water, but water follows the laws of motion. Chen Fan manipulated her fluid form into a spinning vortex until she was too dizzy to stand. KO!

Next, he found Wendy and Carla. Wendy ran ahead while Chen Fan chased after her with a mischievous, slightly lecherous grinlooking very much like a "creepy uncle" trying to catch a little girl.

Of course, he didn't actually do anything weird; he just played around for a bit before overtaking her. He even gave Wendy a bar of chocolate and Carla some dried fish, telling them they must be exhausted from running so far.

The result was predictable. The snacks were "enhanced." Wendy and Carla fell fast asleep after just a few bites. Chen Fan picked them both up and, upon finding a random guild member, instructed them to carry the pair back.

Finally, Chen Fan reached his destination. Standing before him were two people: Natsu and Gray.

Author's Note: Fairy Tail isn't a world that belongs to just one person, but I wanted this world to revolve around one. I wrote this because these are iconic characters, so I spent a bit more ink on them. You're probably all familiar with them anyway.
