Chapter 1 - PROLOGUE: The Girl Time Could Not Erase

The world ended quietly.

No explosions. No screams.

Just… silence.

Lyra Virelle stood alone in the middle of a frozen city, her breath the only thing that still moved in a world where time had stopped. Around her, people were suspended mid-step—faces caught between moments, unaware that reality itself had begun to fracture.

Above her, the sky was wrong.

It shimmered like broken glass, cracks spreading across the heavens.

Through those fractures, shadows moved—watching, waiting.

Lyra tightened her grip on her chest as a faint glow pulsed beneath her skin.

A clock.

Tick.

Tick.

Tick.

"Not again…" she whispered.

The sound echoed too loudly in the stillness.

Then—

A figure moved.

At the edge of the frozen street, something stepped forward, untouched by the stopped world. Tall. Faceless.

Cloaked in shifting darkness that bent like flowing time.

One of them.

A Warden of Time.

"You weren't supposed to exist this long," it said, its voice layered—like many voices speaking at once.

Lyra took a step back, her heart racing.

"I fixed it…" she said, her voice trembling but defiant. "I saved them. I made it right."

The Warden tilted its head.

"There is no 'right' in a broken timeline."

The ground beneath her cracked—not physically, but temporally. Moments flickered in and out. A child laughing. A building collapsing. A memory she didn't recognize.

Lyra clenched her fist.

"Then I'll fix it again."

Her eyes ignited—silver and violet light swirling like galaxies. The clock sigil within them began to spin.

Echo Rewind.

The world snapped backward.

Sound returned in reverse.

Light folded into itself.

The cracks in the sky sealed—

—but not completely.

Lyra staggered as the world resumed. Everything looked normal again… almost.

Except—

She wasn't alone.

Standing beside her was another version of herself.

Same face. Same eyes.

But smiling.

"I remember this part," the echo said softly.

Lyra's breath hitched. "You're not supposed to talk…"

The echo stepped closer.

"Every time you go back… you leave more of us behind."

A distant rumble shook the sky.

The cracks returned—wider this time.

The Warden's voice echoed from everywhere.

"You are not correcting time, Lyra Virelle."

The air grew heavy.

"You are multiplying its mistakes."

Lyra looked at her echo… then at the breaking sky.

For the first time—

She hesitated.
