C4: Mama Yu, Little bun wants to see you out!!!

???

"Tsk… tsk… tsk."

When the Zhen family heard about Zhen Yuwei's condition, they rushed to the hospital. Now, they crowded the ward as Yu Lian, Aunty Chen, and Mr. Zhen walked in.

Mr. Zhen's brows furrowed as he listened to his daughter speak. He couldn't understand it. How could a biological daughter hate her own mother so deeply? As far as he knew, Yu Lian had never done anything to deserve such disdain.

Zhen Quilo snorted, her lips curling. "Mother Yu… do you ever even try to act like you belong in this family?"

Zhen Quilo had never liked Yu Lian. To her, a simple country girl wasn't worthy of her brother, and she was more than happy to side with Zhen Yuwei if it hurt Yu Lian.

"Don't say that, Sister Zhen… it isn't her fault," Aunty Chen interjected, her face was filled with fake righteousness.

Zhen Yuwei noticed the smugness in Aunty Chen's expression. How could she have been so blind in the past? This woman pretended to care about her mother while secretly making everything harder.

Zhen Quilo snorted again. "Don't take the side of a murderer. If it weren't for her, would Zhen Yuwei be in this condition?"

Zhen Yuwei's eyes shifted coldly to her "fake" mother. Her gaze was sharp and icy, but she masked it with sweetness. She couldn't reveal her anger just yet.

"Aunty Chen is right… it isn't mother's fault, If I hadn't rushed in, mother wouldn't have been blamed. And… it's because Ah-Wei misbehaved that mother was treated badly."

Every time she said "mother", she made sure it was loud and clear, emphasizing it deliberately. She wanted Aunty Chen to know her place.

She had seen how Aunty Chen had acted like her mother, snatching her away from Yu Lian. Kindness and smiles wouldn't change the truth.

Aunty Chen gritted her teeth. Since when had the foolish little girl dared call Yu Lian "mother"? But if she protested now, she would look suspicious.

She forced a smile. "Ah-Wei is a smart girl…"

The words sounded like a compliment, but they were more like a splash of icy water than warmth. Zhen Yuwei liked that feeling.

Let her wait and watch: she would pay for all this later.

Then, turning to her real mother, she smiled with round, loving eyes. "Aunty Chen is right… little Ah-Wei is smart."

Everyone froze. In the past, Zhen Yuwei had looked at her mother with nothing but disgust and mockery.

"Mother… Little Ah-Wei is sorry. The whip has cleared her head. Please forgive her," she added.

She bit her lips hard to hold back tears and tried to get up, but the IV drip tugged painfully at her arm. She yelped, making Yu Lian's heart tighten.

"Be careful…" she rushed forward, spreading her arms to hug her daughter, but stopped.

She remembered how her child had hated her embraces. Even though Zhen Yuwei had apologized, Yu Lian felt she didn't have the right

Zhen Yuwei understood her hesitation.

She tilted her small head and opened her tiny arms.

Zhen Yuwei understood. Tilting her small head, she spread her tiny arms toward her mother.

"I knew… Mother hates me. You wouldn't hug Ah-Wei even after I apologized… wuwu… Mother hates Ah-Wei."

The scene stunned everyone. First, she had called her mother "mother," and now she wanted a hug? Who was this little girl before them?

Zhen Quilo's face turned pale. "Ah-Wei… but you told Yu Lian… I mean… your mother—no touching you!"

Even in the cool, air-conditioned ward, sweat rolled down her back. The icy glare Zhen Yuwei gave her as she said mother made her shiver. She had never felt fear like this from a child.

Zhen Yuwei smiled. "It seems Aunty Zhen also has trouble with her ears. I remember saying the whip changed me…"

The words were frank; but also a clear insult. She had just called her deaf. If she weren't Mr. Zhen's daughter, she would have been slapped on the spot.

"How dare you speak to an elder like that!" Aunty Chen reprimanded.

Zhen Yuwei stared at her, with mockery and coldness in her eyes, but quickly transformed it into sweetness. Those who knew her well could tell it was fake.

"Aunty Chen, Little Ah-Wei is sorry. I shouldn't have spoken to Aunty Zhen so rudely. But if you hadn't kept saying manners were useless, I wouldn't have spoken so frankly. You told me manners don't matter… so I didn't know it was wrong to speak directly. Next time, if I follow your advice, I'll be careful with my words."
