Chapter 1 - Part 1: The Door That Should Not Exist

The rain hadn't stopped for three days.

It poured like the sky was trying to erase the world beneath it—streets drowned, lights flickering, and silence replacing the usual chaos of the city.

Aarav stood under the broken streetlamp, staring at the old building in front of him.

He didn't know why he had come here.

No… that wasn't true.

He did know.

He just didn't understand it.

A letter.

A single letter had brought him here.

No sender name. No address. Just a sentence written in dark ink:

"If you want to know the truth about your past, come before the rain stops."

Aarav clenched the paper in his hand. His past… something he had tried to forget for years.

Because every time he tried to remember his childhood—

—there was nothing.

Just emptiness.

Like his memories had been… erased.

Thunder cracked across the sky.

The building in front of him looked abandoned—cracked walls, broken windows, and a rusted iron gate hanging loosely.

"This is stupid," Aarav muttered.

But his feet didn't move.

Something inside him pulled him forward.

Step by step, he entered.

The gate creaked loudly, as if warning him.

Inside, the air felt… different.

Heavy.

Cold.

Alive.

Water dripped from the ceiling as Aarav walked deeper into the building. The hallway stretched longer than it should have, shadows twisting along the walls.

Then—

He saw it.

A door.

Right in the middle of the corridor.

It didn't belong there.

The rest of the building was broken and decayed, but this door—

—was perfectly intact.

Black.

Polished.

Almost… breathing.

Aarav frowned. "Was this here before?"

He was sure it wasn't.

And yet… it felt familiar.

His heart started beating faster.

Something whispered inside his mind.

Open it.

He stepped closer.

The closer he got, the colder the air became.

His breath turned visible.

His hand trembled as he reached for the handle.

"Why does this feel like… I've done this before…?"

The moment his fingers touched the door—

FLASH.

A sudden vision exploded in his mind.

Blood.

Screams.

A girl standing in darkness.

Her glowing silver eyes locked onto his.

"You're late," she whispered.

Aarav stumbled back, gasping.

"What the—"

The vision disappeared.

The hallway returned.

But the feeling remained.

That girl…

Who was she?

And why did her voice feel… important?

Before he could think further—

Click.

The door unlocked on its own.

Aarav froze.

"I didn't—"

The door slowly opened by itself.

Darkness spilled out from inside, deeper than night itself.

Not normal darkness.

This… was something else.

Something that watched back.

Aarav should have run.

Anyone would have.

But instead—

He stepped forward.

The moment he crossed the doorway—

Everything vanished.

The building.

The rain.

The world.

Silence.

Then—

A voice.

Soft.

Cold.

Right behind him.

"You finally came back… Aarav."

He turned slowly.

And his heart stopped.

It was her.

The girl from his vision.

Standing right in front of him.

Silver eyes glowing in the dark.

A faint smile on her lips.

Beautiful.

Dangerous.

Familiar.

"I've been waiting for you," she said gently.

Aarav's voice barely came out.

"Who… are you?"

The girl tilted her head.

As if amused.

Then she stepped closer… and whispered something that made his blood run cold—

I'm the one who killed you… in your last life."
