Joe and Hyeon-ju rushed back inside the store. They headed straight for the control room where a large metal locker stood against the wall.
Hyeon-ju crouched before the locker and began working on the combination. "There is a bag underneath the cabinet."
Joe nodded and reached under the heavy furniture. "Okay."
Hyeon-ju finished opening the lock just as Joe pulled out a large canvas bag. He held it open so she could fill it.
Hyeon-ju started handing him heavy gold bars from the top shelf. "Pack it up now!"
Joe nodded and began stacking them inside. There were also thick stacks of American dollars and Korean won.
After a few minutes Joe looked at the bulging bag. "This bag is full."
Hyeon-ju turned toward him and saw the locker still had plenty of money left. She bit her lip while she looked at the remaining cash.
Joe suddenly unzipped his tracksuit jacket. He revealed a chiseled chest covered by a tight tank top.
Hyeon-ju was startled by the sudden move. "What are you doing?"
Joe laid the empty tracksuit flat on the dusty ground. "Put the money here. I will zip it up and tie the openings together."
Hyeon-ju understood the plan and started piling the rest of the money onto the fabric. They finally managed to clear out the entire locker.
Joe muttered as he tied the sleeves and waist into tight knots. "Here we go."
Hyeon-ju stood up and looked at the door. "Hurry up!"
Joe stood up and gripped the heavy improvised bundle and the bag. "Okay."
They both rushed outside toward the parking lot. Geon-woo and Woo-jin saw them come out and started the SUV engine.
Hyeon-ju and Joe climbed into the black Mercedes. The unconscious bodies of Jang-do and In-beom were already piled in the back seat like sandbags.
Hyeon-ju started the engine and the car roared to life. Both cars were ready to leave the loading dock.
Several black SUVs screeched to a stop at that exact moment. They blocked both the exit and the entrance of the alleyway.
Hyeon-ju looked at the blockade cautiously. "We need to call Geon-woo."
Joe nodded and called Geon-woo on his phone. He put the call on speaker so they could all hear each other.
Geon-woo answered immediately. "Yeah?"
Hyeon-ju pressed the gas and the engine growled. "Stay on my tail."
Geon-woo gripped his steering wheel. "Uh-huh."
Hyeon-ju drifted the Mercedes a full sixty degrees. The tires screamed and smoked as she smashed through a gap in the blockade.
SCREE!
Geon-woo followed her closely from the back. A high speed car chase began through the empty night streets.
One of the black SUVs accelerated and rammed into the side of Geon-woo's vehicle. The heavy metal frames collided and sent sparks flying onto the asphalt.
BANG!
Geon-woo fought to keep the steering wheel straight. The SUV wobbled under the massive weight of the cash boxes in the back.
Hyeon-ju looked in her mirror and spoke to the phone. "Can we go any faster?"
Geon-woo shifted gears and floor the pedal. "I don't think I can. The car is too weighed down right now."
Hyeon-ju looked determined as she checked the distance between the chasing cars. "When I give you the signal, step on it."
Geon-woo nodded and prepared to move. "Yeah, I will try."
Hyeon-ju suddenly slammed on her brakes and swerved. She shouted into the phone.
"Okay, now! Go now!"
The SUV engine revved loudly as Geon-woo accelerated past her. The black Mercedes swerved to block the entire lane and stopped the pursuit from behind.
VROOM!
The lead enemy SUV slammed into the back of the Mercedes. Both cars skidded across the road as metal crumpled.
CRUNCH!
Hyeon-ju corrected the slide and accelerated again. She kept her car zig-zagging to prevent any of the enemies from passing her to get to Geon-woo.
The chase continued deep inside a dimly lit tunnel. Geon-woo stayed in the lead while Hyeon-ju kept her Mercedes positioned right behind him to block the lane.
One of the black SUVs accelerated and rammed into Hyeon-ju's rear bumper. Her head snapped back from the impact and her tires screeched against the pavement.
SCREE!
Hyeon-ju gritted her teeth and slammed her foot on the brake for a split second. The move forced the enemy SUV to eat her bumper and she immediately rammed back into them.
The other black SUVs joined in and started bashing into the sides of the Mercedes. Joe gripped the door handle as the car jolted violently from side to side.
THUD!
Metal groaned and sparks showered the tunnel walls as the vehicles traded paint. Joe let out a low groan when his shoulder slammed into the window frame.
"Hold on!" Hyeon-ju shouted.
A mishap happened at the front of the pack. One of the chasing SUVs clipped a concrete pillar and rolled across the road directly in front of Hyeon-ju.
CRASH!
The Mercedes slammed into the side of the rolling wreck. At the same time the other SUVs smashed into Hyeon-ju's rear and pinned her against the debris.
Hyeon-ju and Joe groaned in pain as the air bags nearly deployed. Smoke began to curl from the crumpled hood of the Mercedes.
"Press the gas! Push through it!" Joe urged her.
Hyeon-ju gritted her teeth and floored the pedal. The engine let out a deafening roar and the speedometer climbed past 140 km/h.
VROOM!
The tires spun wildly and smelled of burning rubber. The Mercedes groaned as it shoved the overturned SUV slowly to the side of the lane.
Suddenly the wreckage flipped out of the way and the Mercedes rocketed forward. The SUVs in the back could not stop in time and piled into the stalled wreck.
WHAM!
A massive heap of twisted metal blocked the tunnel behind them. Geon-woo's SUV and the black Mercedes vanished into the night as they exited the tunnel.
The goons stumbled out of their destroyed vehicles and watched the red taillights disappear. They stood in the middle of the road surrounded by shattered glass and leaking oil.
