Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 - Light

[It is a lesser replica of Yugo D'oro]

The voice spoke with utter confidence — well, it always spoke in that manner, but the voice seemed to be much more… proud? while giving no proper answer to her question.

Why is the gravity of that creature not affecting us?

The golden ape stared at the blond haired girl as a drop of blood dripped from its nostrils; Flieday immediately understood what was happening and asked:

"Is it tamed to you?"

[It will listen to you]

As soon as she heard the voice in her head, she dashed towards the ape sitting on its back. She held tightly onto its golden fur as she commanded it to run.

It must have the ability to render other abilities useless around it… Whatever the voice is it is extremely strong and has deep foundations, not only it had raised a grade two beast capable of enduring a grade three attacks, the voice gave me this mystical clothing

As they were rushing out of the creature's gravitational radius — which was fully focused on the bedrock tree, Flieday felt amazed by her covering.

It was clinging to her body without any vines keeping it in place. It was truly magical - not only that; the covering was really comfortable and supported her. Especially the feet covering.

As comforting as it was… She felt nothing but hollow. She did not feel any happiness at such covering, nor did she feel shock. The type of hollowness in which nothing seems to have any purpose, as if the world had stopped caring about you.

Did the world ever care about us? …What should I do next?

She felt a deep sense of unease. Her heart was heavy and her expression was grim. She had to kill another Chinen, but she did not feel particularly moved by such a predicament.

It is common knowledge that a Chinen's life is extremely precious. Even in tribal wars, the casualties are kept as low as possible. After all, all Chinen lives are co-dependent on each other.

Even more so the voice had asked for her to take out a Chinen's heart and place it on the bedrock tree. But she herself did not feel anything wrong with this — this made her uneasy. Had she lost herself on the way to survival?

Now that I think about it, killing a Chinen makes no difference in the grand scheme of things

The golden ape snorted as it signaled that it sensed movement. Flieday too could hear faint sounds of a group running before, but she had dismissed it as a Head eyed deer.

But now she could hear faint slithering and the sound of birds chirping.

Why was she not feeling scared? Why was she not feeling anticipation?

Even when she saw a wall of faint figures dashing towards her, she felt nothing but peace.

Even when the horde of beasts was rushing straight towards her, she was apathetic to it.

A blond girl was clinging to the golden fur of a huge ape with a dazed expression. They were running headfirst into a horde of beasts — The horde which seemed like a dark wall of shadows before now looked like a wall of myriad beings.

A few seconds later the giant ape collided with the horde; a snake lunged onto it, biting its leg. Soon a horned rhino stabbed the ape as a group of bees stung it. The ape let out a shrill cry and kept running forward.

I had never thought about any goal for me…

Flieday felt a sharp pain in her hand, and another one and another one. She was being stung constantly by the bees but her mind did not care.

The attacks from graded beasts were being canceled by the ape for the time being but Flieday knew she would not survive if this kept going. She gestured at the ape as the image of her sister flashed in her mind.

The ape grunted and turned around instantly, now running with the horde — in the frenzy no beast held actual malice towards either So Flieday or her golden ape. They were merely being punished for blocking the beast's path to living.

I'll think about my goal after meeting with my parents… I should survive until then

Soon the beasts stopped attacking the ape, and the bees left Flieday alone as they ran along the flow. However, the graded attacks still had to be blocked by the ape thus slowing it down.

In a matter of seconds the ape's energy reserves were exhausted and it showed immediately. Flieday felt the world around them get brighter and brighter as if white flames were burning around her.

The darkness was hidden in the excruciating white glow as she looked to her feet. The ape had slown down considerably; it too was under this kind of attack. Flieday herself did not feel any warmer or hotter.

She allowed herself to fully focus on what's happening and soon found her answer.

Everything is made of matter and energy; the only reason my vision is changing is light. If I am seeing everything as bright as white, then my eyes are allowing more light inside than necessary. It can control my body to an extent!

The world shone brightly as Flieday closed her eyes. However, to her dismay, she was wrong — even when she closed her eyes, she would see pure white. Before she could change her thinking, however, the world slowly turned darker and darker.

In less than a moment she could finally see the darkness she should have with her eyes closed. When she opened her eyes, she saw a huge squid in her periphery vision.

The squid had its main body above the ground and its tentacles inside it — its skin was dark pink which was slowly turning white.

The squid had plenty of scars covering its thick skin as Flieday looked around. She was in a sandy patch with no vegetation around. The sand dunes that towered around her were spread sparsely around her.

The geography of this part of Kle was made of small patches of Sprik jungles, white deserts and bedrock jungles.

She was not too far away from the horde — only about some kilometers away from there. She was not actually moving her head around to observe; rather; she was only using her peripheral vision to see the squid and surroundings.

"What's your tribe?"
