Chapter 1 - Chapter 58: The Cat Corps

Unknowingly, another month passed, and the time reached concealed era 1499.

In the New World, Moriah's fleet was heading towards Wano Country.

After obtaining the intelligence provided by Luo Fan, Moriah made many preparations for the crusade against Kaido. One of the most important points was that Moriah stole the corpses of some powerhouses in advance.

With an army of corpses as cannon fodder, Moriah was full of confidence.

On the other side, with the Whitebeard Pirates, due to the start of the Great Pirate Era, a large number of pirates poured into the New World. Every day, there were arrogant rookies coming to challenge Whitebeard.

Many of these rookies were impressed by Whitebeard's strength and voluntarily joined the Whitebeard Pirates, becoming subordinate Pirate Crews under the Whitebeard Pirates' banner.

Facing more and more Pirate Crews joining, Whitebeard became increasingly annoyed. In desperation, Whitebeard decided to have the people on the Moby Dick split off to form several Pirate Crews to manage these newly joined Pirate Crews.

As the Old Man's most trusted daughter, Ice Witch Whitey Bay took on this task without hesitation.

That evening, a grand banquet was held on the Moby Dick to see off Whitey Bay.

After having someone to restrain the subordinate Pirate Crews, Whitebeard turned his attention to the Moby Dick. Previously, the Moby Dick only had five divisions, but as the personnel increased, Whitebeard planned to expand the divisions.

After this campaign, Jozu, Vista, and others who joined the Whitebeard Pirates at the same time as Marco all became commanders.

Luo Fan, who was in the Sabaody Archipelago, knew nothing of all this; he was currently busy forming his Cat Corps.

A few days ago, with Rayleigh's help, Luo Fan was finally able to release and control Haoshoku of his own will.

At this point, Luo Fan's training had come to an end, but he was in no hurry to return to the Moby Dick for two reasons:

First, Noy was still too green at this time, and the formation of the Cat Corps still required his help.

Second, Luo Fan had only told Noy about the corruption of the Celestial Dragons' order but had not taken her to witness it. The Ohara incident would break out next year, and Luo Fan planned to take Noy to the scene to see it for herself when the time came.

As for now, Luo Fan and Noy first set their sights on the Cats of the Sabaody Archipelago.

As an island of the Celestial Dragons, most of the residents on the Sabaody Archipelago were relatively wealthy, and many people kept pets.

Luo Fan took a trip around the Sabaody Archipelago and used Observation Haki to roughly sense it, finding that there were about 20,000 Cats on the island.

Luo Fan tried to contact one of them. As a result, Luo Fan only revealed a trace of Haoshoku, and the cat immediately showed submission.

The same went for the next few Cats; as long as Luo Fan revealed Haoshoku, the Cats would immediately show submission.

Luo Fan found it very strange. Was taming Cats this simple?

Then Luo Fan pulled Rayleigh out and had Rayleigh use Haoshoku on the Cats. However, the Cats would rather be knocked unconscious by Rayleigh's Haoshoku than show submission to him.

Luo Fan attributed this situation to the Cats' submission to him, the Cat King who had mastered Haoshoku. Towards the 'two-legged beast,' the Cats were still very stubborn.

After a month passed like this, all the Cats on the Sabaody Archipelago had been brought under Luo Fan's rule.

Afterwards, Luo Fan had Noy step forward to train these Cats' ability to gather intelligence. After all, the Cats' intelligence was not as high as Luo Fan's and Noy's, and it was a bit difficult for them to understand Noy's words.

Fortunately, Noy could communicate with the Cats, and with Luo Fan spending a lot of money to buy many small dried fish as rewards, these Cats gradually understood Noy's meaning and began to act according to Noy's orders.

With more than 20,000 Cats scattered in every corner of the Sabaody Archipelago, Noy would know immediately if there was any movement in the entire archipelago.

At this point, Luo Fan's Cat Corps was initially formed. The next step was to train the Cats' combat capabilities.

Luo Fan and Noy together selected twenty relatively smart Cats. These Cats were similar to the Orange Cat in the female Celestial Dragon's arms; they could all communicate directly with Luo Fan and Noy, but their memory was relatively poor.

Luo Fan estimated that he was in about the same state before he ate the Winged Human Fruit.

For these future core members of the Cat Corps, Luo Fan was not stingy either, directly taking out the east sea special dried fish snack that he had drawn from the lottery before, which could increase strength after eating.

The Cats had an instinctive desire for this kind of dried fish, and even Noy's eyes lit Up.

Luo Fan gave each cat a special dried fish and said, 'As long as you work hard, you will be able to eat this kind of dried fish often in the future.'

The Cats were extremely excited upon hearing this, and their attitude towards Luo Fan became more and more respectful.

Afterwards, Luo Fan taught these twenty Cats Life Return.

The skill Life Return can be considered the foundation of all skills. Take Luo Fan's Cat Needle for example.

Luo Fan can use this skill directly because of the game, while other Cats need to learn Life Return first if they want to learn Cat Needle. Only by being able to control the fur on the body's surface and making the fur hard can they learn Cat Needle.

Teaching the Cats Life Return was much harder than teaching Noy. Even with special small dried fish as rewards from time to time, it took the 20 Cats more than two months to barely reach the entry level.

During these two-plus months, Noy had already initially mastered the Cat Needle skill.

After Noy learned this skill, Luo Fan specifically warned her not to use this skill frequently before fully mastering Life Return, otherwise she would go bald.

Noy's expression was a bit strange upon hearing this. Cats shed fur anyway, and a few Cat Needles were not as much as the fur that fell off. Was there a need to be so nervous?

Luo Fan saw Noy's thoughts and demonstrated the effect of his use of Cat Needle to her.

Luo Fan controlled the fur on his back and shot it towards a distant large tree. Thousands of cat hairs instantly riddled the tree with holes, and Luo Fan's back had gone directly bald.

Noy was startled by the sight. She didn't expect Luo Fan to be able to fire so many cat hairs at once. If fired like this, no matter how much fur there was, it wouldn't be enough to pluck.

'See! This is the drawback of this skill.' After saying that, Luo Fan used Life Return to convert part of his body's energy into cat hair, re-covering the bald patch.

Seeing many book friends talking about Haoshoku, let me briefly talk about the settings for Haoshoku in the data book released in the previous edition! (The author doesn't understand Japanese and can only speak based on Wikipedia.)

According to the explanation in the data book, first of all, Haoshoku cannot be trained. It can only be triggered when the person receives a certain external stimulus or when their state of mind reaches a certain level.

Secondly, Haoshoku is divided into three levels: primary, intermediate, and advanced.

The primary level is just after awakening. In this state, the owner of Haoshoku can only trigger it due to special emotional fluctuations, and it can knock out the people around them.

You can refer to the scene when Luffy released Haoshoku during the Marineford War.

The intermediate level is using one's own will to freely control Haoshoku. From the timing of use to the magnitude of power, the people affected, and the range covered, everything is under control.

For example, when Rayleigh was at the auction house, he only knocked out the auction house's lackeys, while others were completely unaffected. Luffy instantly knocked out 50,000 people on Fish-Man Island, and the Straw Hat crew and the Fishmen outside the battlefield also didn't feel Luffy's Haoshoku.

The advanced level is for true conquerors who possess both heart, skill, and body. Simply by raising their aura, they can let Haoshoku radiate in all directions, which can cause physical damage.

The representative figure of this level is Shanks. This shouldn't need me to describe in detail.

Friends who want to know the settings of One Piece can leave a message. I have the data book and life card from the previous edition here. Also, seeking collections and recommendations as usual
