She clasped her hands together. "Dear Majesty, please forgive me, but it is my duty to bring forth its fate. I could not stop it."
The cold metal pressed harder against her neck. Her voice trembled, yet a faint glimmer of hope remained in her eyes.
"WHAT do u mean. She is an artificial prepared human. What do you mean fates."
Florence continued,
" Her body must be an artificial but her soul was transmigrated to the most similar body or appearance and yeeee~ she would return… but not for another two years."
His voice was eerily calm. "Hm...Which means, for the time being, you are entirely unnecessary."
He slowly tilted his head to one side, the faintest curve appearing at the corner of his lips. It almost resembled a smile but there was nothing warm in it.
His gaze remained fixed upon her, merciless and unreadable.
"No, Majesty!" she pleaded, her voice trembling. "She will never be able to reach this world without me. I alone hold the passage between her world and yours. Please… spare my life."
Her hands remained clasped as she lowered her head, desperately awaiting his judgment.
He let out a quiet, mocking laugh and turned his head away. Then he looked back at her with an almost cheerful expression.
He bent slightly toward her.
"So, how does this process work?"
She let out a shaky sigh of relief. "I just have to stay alive."
"That's it?"
He raised a sharp eyebrow, his eyes narrowing with amused disbelief.
She nodded with an awkward smile.
He straightened.
"Okay, then."
Without warning, the cold metal swung through the air so swiftly that no one had time to react.
A piercing scream tore through the hall.
Everyone froze.
The woman collapsed to her knees, clutching her injured hands as she cried out in pain. The entire room stood in stunned silence, unable to comprehend what had just happened.
Caroline, however, remained completely unfazed.
Brian stared in disbelief at Zenith. Even he was shaken by how far Zenith was willing to go for the sake of one seemingly insignificant woman.
Caroline's expression tightened in fear mingling with jealousy. She turned away and silently walked out of the room.
The hall continued to echo with the woman's cries.
Zenith merely watched her leave, his expression unreadable.
Then, in a voice barely above a whisper, he said,
"Lucky you. You got away this time."
His eyes darkened.
"But I don't forget."
A faint smile touched his lips.
"Wait until you return. Then you'll learn what a real obstacle looks like."
