Chapter 5 - Reina Kurashiki

Yamada was sitting in his classroom, replaying events from yesterday with Tachibana. The basement. The cuffs. The way she moaned. The quiet laugh that slipped out when she begged.

Louisa looked at him. "You seem very happy today?"

Yamada looked at her. "Oh, just finally completed something."

He said as he lay back.

Tomoe looked at him. "Like what?"

Yamada looked at her. "Just something important."

Mio looked at him. "Fine, don't tell."

The classroom bell rang, signalling that it was lunchtime.

Everyone got up. They started to make their way to the cafeteria.

After arriving in the cafeteria, Yamada met up with his sister.

Yamada went to Miyuri's level. "How was class?"

Miyuri smiled as she looked at him. "Great Onii-chan. I also met someone."

Yamada tilted his head. "Who might that be?"

"Yamada-kun, it's been a while."

The voice of a female spoke.

Yamada turned.

Long blonde hair. Bleached bright. Blue eyes sharp and cold. Uniform skirt shorter than regulation. Blazer open just enough to show cleavage. Gyaru style all the way. Arrogant tilt to her chin. Former model vibe still there.

Reina Kurashiki.

She stood there with one hand on her hip. Bag slung over her shoulder. Small smirk on her lips.

Miyuri bounced on her toes. "See? This is the girl I met! She's in my class. Said she knows you from before!"

Reina stepped closer. Looked Yamada up and down.

"Still hiding under that baggy hoodie, huh?" she said. Voice smooth but edged. "Thought you'd changed after the hospital."

Yamada met her eyes.

"Reina."

She smiled. Not warm. Not friendly. Just that arrogant curve.

"Missed me?"

Miyuri looked between them. Eyes wide. Curious.

"You two know each other?"

Reina didn't answer her. Kept staring at Yamada.

"Sit with us," she said. Not a question. "We have things to talk about."

Yamada didn't move right away.

'Of course she shows up now.'

He remembered her from last year. Same attitude. Same sharp tongue. The way she used to corner him in the old music room before the other three joined in. The way she acted like the whole school owed her something.

He looked at Miyuri.

"Fine," he said. "Let's eat."

Reina turned. Walked ahead. Hips swaying like she owned the cafeteria.

Miyuri grabbed his sleeve. Whispered.

"She's pretty. And kinda scary."

Yamada ruffled her twin-tails once.

"Yeah. She is."

They followed.

The cafeteria noise buzzed around them.

But Yamada's mind was already turning.

Reina Kurashiki back in his life.

Another piece.

Another girl.

The day just got more interesting.

The group finally made it to the cafeteria. They sat down.

Trays filled with food. Rice. Curry. Salad. Juice. Standard school lunch.

They sat at the same table. Yamada and Miyuri on one side. Louisa, Tomoe, Mio on the other. Reina took the spot right across from Yamada. Legs crossed. Tray pushed forward like she owned it.

Reina looked at Yamada. "I would like to apologize."

Yamada looked at her. Fork paused halfway to his mouth.

"You've apologized enough for that day."

Tomoe looked at him. "That day?"

Reina looked at her. "Let me explain."

Flashback.

Second year. After school. Empty hallway near the vending machines.

Yamada walked past. Saw a guy from the third-year class. Tall. Smug. Holding a small packet. White powder. He unscrewed Reina's water bottle. Dumped it in.

Reina was sitting on the bench nearby. Eyes half-closed. Tired from club. Bottle next to her.

Yamada didn't hesitate.

He stepped forward. Kicked the guy hard in the stomach.

The guy doubled over. Gasped. Dropped the packet.

Yamada looked down at him. Calm.

"Really trying to take advantage of your classmate."

The guy held his stomach. Eyes wide.

Yamada picked up the packet. Looked at it. Then at the water bottle.

"Seriously. The school needs to pick better guys."

The guy scrambled up. Ran. Didn't look back.

Yamada grabbed the packet and the bottle. Dumped the water out on the ground. Crushed the packet under his shoe.

Reina stirred. Opened her eyes.

Saw Yamada standing there. Bottle in one hand. Packet crushed at his feet.

She didn't see the guy. Didn't see the kick. Only saw Yamada with her water bottle. Powder on the floor.

Her face twisted.

She stood up fast.

Slapped him.

Hard.

"Disgusting!"

She ran. Didn't look back.

Yamada stood there. Cheek red. Bottle still in hand.

End flashback.

Back in the cafeteria.

Reina finished talking. Voice low.

"I thought you were the one who spiked it. I didn't see the guy. I just… panicked."

Yamada poked at his curry. Didn't look up.

"I know."

Miyuri's eyes were huge. "Onii-chan kicked someone?"

Louisa leaned forward. "Wait, so you saved her and got slapped for it?"

Tomoe frowned. "That's awful."

Mio stayed quiet. Just watched Yamada.

Reina looked down at her tray. Fingers tight around her chopsticks.

"I tried to apologize later. You wouldn't listen."

Yamada finally looked at her.

"You were scared. I get it."

Reina's eyes flicked up.

"But I still hit you. Called you that."

Yamada shrugged.

"Water under the bridge."

Reina bit her lip.

"It's not. Not for me."

Silence at the table.

Miyuri looked between them. Then at Yamada.

"Onii-chan… you're really nice."

Yamada ruffled her hair.

"Eat your food."

Reina stared at him a second longer.

Then she smiled. Small. Real this time.

"Thanks."

Yamada nodded once.

Lunch continued.

Chatter started again. Louisa teasing Mio about her small appetite. Tomoe asking Miyuri about her old school.

Yamada ate slow.

Mind on the basement.

On Tachibana's text from earlier. "Tomorrow?"

On Reina sitting across from him now.

Another piece.

Another girl.

He looked at her once.

She caught his eye.

Smiled again. Softer.

Yamada looked away.

A quiet chuckle slipped out.

Barely audible.

The cafeteria noise covered it.

But he felt it.

Control.

'Stop thinking about control.'

He said it to himself, almost shaking his head.

His mind slipped there anyway. He glanced at Reina.

She was talking to Miyuri now. Laughing at something his sister said. Blonde hair catching the cafeteria light. That same sharp smile. Confident. Untouchable.

His thoughts went straight to the basement.

The padded bench. The cuffs. The red light. Reina bent over it. Skirt up. Hair pulled back. Begging the way Tachibana did.

He shut it down fast.

No.

Then the image shifted. Louisa. Tomoe. Mio. All three there. On their knees. Waiting.

He shut that down too.

Harder.

He didn't want them there.

The dungeon was for revenge. For the nurses who held power over him when he couldn't fight back. For the ones who made him helpless. That place was punishment turned into pleasure. On his terms.

Louisa, Tomoe, Mio—they were never on that list.

They were the ones who came to him first. Who wanted him. Who never forced him. Even when they pushed, it was because he let them. Because he said "fine."

They were normal. Or as normal as things got in this school.

He wanted them to stay that way.

No cuffs. No revenge. Just the music room. The empty classroom. The quick, messy, mutual want.

'What is happening to me?'

He stared at his tray. Rice half-eaten. Curry cold now.

The thought sat heavy.

He used to be the guy who blended in. Who let things happen. Who didn't push back.

Now he had a dungeon. A house full of secrets. Nurses who owed him rent. A sister who asked too many questions. And power he never asked for—but liked.

Too much.

Reina looked at him across the table.

"You okay, Yamada-kun?"

Her voice pulled him back.

He blinked. Forced a small smile.

"Yeah. Just thinking."

She tilted her head. Blonde strands fell over one eye.

"About me?"

Miyuri giggled.

Louisa smirked. "Probably."

Tomoe watched quietly. Mio stayed silent.

Yamada shrugged.

"Maybe."

Reina's smile turned a little softer.

"Don't think too hard. Lunch is almost over."

He nodded.

The bell rang.

Everyone stood. Trays clattered. Chairs scraped.

Yamada grabbed his bag.

Reina walked beside him on the way out.

She bumped his shoulder lightly.

"See you after school?"

He looked at her.

"Maybe."

She laughed. Short. Bright.

"Don't keep me waiting."

She walked ahead. Hips swaying again.

Yamada watched her go.

Then he looked at his hands.

No casts. No weakness.

Just strength.

And a quiet voice in his head.

'You're changing.'

He didn't answer it.

He just kept walking.

The hallway filled with students.

The day kept moving.

But something inside him felt different.

Not bad.

Just… heavier.

He headed to his next class.

Mind still turning.

But slower now.

For the first time in days, he wasn't sure what came next.

And that felt strange.

Yamada walked through the school hall to reach his class.

He passed someone.

He stopped. Almost didn't recognize her.

Long black hair, now dyed a lighter shade at the tips. Same navy uniform, but the skirt looked shorter. Blouse untucked just enough to show attitude. Blue eyes that used to be shy, now guarded.

Saki.

Yamada turned.

"Hey, Saki."

Saki blinked. Stopped walking.

"Huh?"

He stepped closer. Kept his voice low.

"Sorry I wasn't here for three weeks. Hope nothing bad happened."

Saki looked at the floor. Then at him.

"...It didn't."

Yamada tilted his head.

"Really?"

She shifted her bag on her shoulder. Fingers tight around the strap.

"I met a guy. His name is Hayato. He shows me things."

Yamada reached out. Patted her head gently. Like he always used to when they were kids.

"That's great. I'm happy you made friends."

He paused. Kept his hand there a second longer.

"Remember—if he starts showing you things that make you uncomfortable, call me. Anytime. Okay?"

Saki's eyes flicked up. Met his.

For a moment she looked like the old Saki. The quiet one. The one who used to hide behind him when kids teased her.

Then she nodded. Small. Quick.

"Okay."

She stepped back. Adjusted her bag.

"I have to go. Class."

Yamada let his hand drop.

"Yeah. See you later."

She walked off. Faster than normal. Didn't look back.

Yamada watched her disappear around the corner.

His smile faded.

'Hayato.'

He knew the name. Rumors in the halls. Older guy. Not from Seika. Always hanging around the gates. Showing "new girls" the city. The nightlife. The parties.

The things that started innocent and ended badly.

He flexed his hand. Knuckles cracked softly.

'If he hurts her…'

The thought finished itself.

He didn't laugh this time.

He just walked to class.

Mind already turning.

Saki was changing.

He could see it.

The gyaru hints. The guarded eyes. The way she avoided looking too long.

He reached his classroom. Door open. Students inside.

He took his seat.

Pulled out his phone under the desk.

Texted the butler.

"Check on a guy named Hayato. Around Saki. Quietly."

Reply came fast.

"Understood, Master."

Yamada put the phone away.

Looked out the window.

The courtyard was quiet.

But something felt off.

He leaned back.

'Nothing bad happened,' she said.

He didn't believe her.

Not for a second.

The teacher walked in.

Class started.

Yamada listened with half an ear.

The other half was already planning.

If Hayato pushed too far…

He'd handle it.

Quietly.

Permanently.

The way he handled things now.

A small, cold smile touched his lips.

Gone in a second.

No one saw it.

But it was there.

---

Saki walked down the hallway alone. Lunch was over, but she didn't feel like going back to class yet. Her feet took her to the stairwell instead—the one nobody used much because the vending machine on the second floor was always broken.

She sat on the third step from the bottom. Knees pulled up. Arms wrapped around them. Uniform skirt bunched against her thighs.

Her phone sat heavy in her blazer pocket. She didn't pull it out. Didn't need to. She knew the messages were there.

Hayato.

"Hey cutie, party tonight. You coming? Wear something short ;)"

"Missed you last time. Don't flake again."

"Bring that new look. Guys gonna love it."

She stared at the concrete wall in front of her.

Yamada's voice kept replaying.

"Remember—if he starts showing you things that make you uncomfortable, call me. Anytime. Okay?"

Her throat tightened.

She wanted to tell him.

Wanted to say: "Hayato's not just showing me things. He's making me do them. The drinks taste funny. The rooms are dark. The guys touch me and laugh when I try to leave. I don't know how to stop it. I'm scared. I'm changing and I hate it. Help me."

But the words wouldn't come.

Not because she didn't trust him.

Because she was ashamed.

Ashamed that she kept going back.

Ashamed that part of her liked the attention at first.

Ashamed that she let it get this far.

She pressed her forehead against her knees.

Yamada looked different today. Calmer. Stronger. Like he wasn't the same boy who used to walk her home after middle school when she was too shy to talk to anyone else.

He patted her head like nothing had changed.

But everything had.

She changed her hair. Her clothes. Her makeup. Tried to be someone new. Someone who fit in. Someone Hayato said was "hot."

Now she didn't recognize herself in the mirror sometimes.

And Yamada still looked at her like she was the old Saki.

The one who was safe.

The one who didn't lie to him.

Tears pricked her eyes. She blinked them away fast.

Her phone buzzed.

She pulled it out without thinking.

Hayato again.

"Yo. Where you at? Need my good-luck charm before tonight."

She stared at the screen.

Thumb hovered over the reply button.

She could text Yamada instead.

One message.

"I need help."

Three words.

But her fingers froze.

What if he looked at her different?

What if he asked questions she couldn't answer?

What if he pitied her?

She locked the phone. Shoved it back in her pocket.

Stood up.

Wiped her face with her sleeve.

Took a shaky breath.

'I'll handle it. Just one more time. Then I'll stop.'

She told herself that every day now.

She walked back toward class.

Steps slow.

Heavy.

The hallway lights buzzed overhead.

She passed a window. Saw her reflection.

Blue eyes tired. Makeup smudged a little from almost crying.

She fixed it with her finger. Forced a small smile.

Practiced.

For Hayato.

For the party.

For pretending everything was fine.
