Sairis's POV
Marsden already had his hand at Sairis's elbow and was steering him toward the front of the shop with a firmness that stopped just short of actually pulling.
They came out onto the walkway. The two guards straightened immediately. Marsden said something to one of them in a low voice and the guard nodded and moved ahead.
The walk back to the carriage was short. Sairis let Marsden steer him because arguing required more focus than he had available at the moment and every step he took he was still reading the note in his head.
Your sister is alive.
He folded it and pressed it back into his pocket.
Tidal helped him into the carriage and climbed in after him. Marsden got in last and sat across from him and looked at him with a worried attention of someone who was not going to stop looking until he had decided whether this was serious.
"Does anything hurt?" Marsden asked.
Sairis shook his head.
