Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 Dispute

King Jaehaerys, who was currently enjoying desserts with Daenerys and the others, watched Samwell tirelessly promote "dragonflame wine" among the various nobles. He affectionately leaned close to Daenerys and whispered in her ear,

"Little Daenerys, you're letting Samwell do business at a Royal Family banquet. Shouldn't you pay the taxes first?"

Daenerys, however, spoke generously,

"This dragonflame wine is only for the noble lords. Don't we, the Royal Family, have something even better? I can supply it exclusively to the Royal Family, and the cost will be the same as dragonflame wine. Great-grandfather, do you think this offer is acceptable?"

Jaehaerys couldn't help but ask curiously upon hearing this,

"Oh? There's something even better? Then I must try it."

So Daenerys raised her hand and gestured to her maid, Annie. Annie, who had been prepared for a long time, immediately brought over the beautifully packaged dragonflame wine, covered with exquisite silk.

This dragonflame wine was contained in specially made dragon-shaped transparent glass bottles, and its color was golden. The drinking cups used were glass cups inlaid with dragon bones. The bottom of the cups was also carved with Dragonflame patterns.

Annie respectfully poured a cup for King Jaehaerys.

"This wine is called House Targaryen's Dragonflame. Please enjoy it, Your Majesty."

Jaehaerys first took a small sip and immediately felt a spicy, warm current burn from his mouth all the way to his stomach. His whole body seemed to be on fire.

But this explosive energy made him feel as if his decaying body had rekindled a hint of new vitality, so he quickly drained the entire cup.

This caused sweat to immediately bead on the Old King's forehead, but his body felt much lighter. Daenerys, while wiping the sweat from Jaehaerys with a handkerchief, said confidently,

"How is it, Your Majesty? This is our Targaryen Family's Dragonflame!"

"Good! The wine is good, and the name is even better!"

"Targaryen Family's Dragonflame, only this name is worthy of it!"

Noticing the commotion, everyone subtly moved closer.

Sea Snake Corlys Velaryon and Princess Rhaenys were the first to approach.

"What is it that makes His Majesty so happy?"

"Looking at your complexion, this must be good news!"

Jaehaerys raised his hand and gestured to Annie.

"Pour Lord Corlys and Princess Rhaenys a cup of Targaryen Family's Dragonflame!"

"Targaryen Family's Dragonflame?"

Though very curious, Lord Corlys and Rhaenys still accepted the golden wine from Annie's hand.

Upon drinking it, even though they were famously fond of strong spirits, they were still amazed by the potent wine before them.

"Although this wine is spicy and explosive, it makes one feel comfortable in body and mind!"

"I have led fleets around the world six times, but I have never encountered a strong spirit that can compare to this House Targaryen's Dragonflame."

Sea Snake Corlys praised sincerely.

Rhaenys nodded in agreement,

"The dragonflame wine from before was already a rare delicacy, but compared to this wine, it's difficult to swallow!"

"I haven't been feeling well lately, but after drinking this wine, I feel as if I've completely recovered!"

Jaehaerys proudly pointed to the dragon-shaped wine bottle in Annie's hand and said,

"Of course, this is an imperial wine exclusively supplied to the Targaryen Royal Family! Just one bottle costs 10 gold dragons!"

"10 gold dragons?"

Even Lord Corlys, the richest man in the Seven Kingdoms, couldn't help but be astonished by this price!

But he quickly drained the beautiful wine in his cup and then extended the empty cup towards Annie.

Annie smiled and began to explain upon seeing this,

"I'm sorry, Lord Corlys! Because this Targaryen Family's Dragonflame is a medicinal wine with powerful effects, each person can only drink one cup at a time!"

Although disappointed, Lord Corlys still retracted his cup.

"It's nothing more than holding out for a better price, isn't it? I don't believe it. What strong spirits haven't I drunk? What problem could a few cups of wine cause?"

Boros, the fourteen-year-old eldest son of the Duke of the Stormlands, loudly pushed his way out of the crowd.

His cousin, Princess Rhaenys, immediately pulled his arm and said,

"Child, are you drunk already? What nonsense are you spouting in front of the King? Be careful, Beaumont will beat you!"

Daenerys, seeing that it was this fool, spoke up,

"Young Master Boros might not know, as he's illiterate, but medicinal wine nourishes those who are ill. However, if a healthy person drinks too much, it can harm their body!"

"You! I don't believe a bit of strong spirit can do anything to me! How about we make a bet?"

At this moment, Duke Beaumont had already arrived. He directly kicked Boros, causing him to stumble.

"What kind of place is this? Do you think this is Storm's End, where you can do as you please!"

Boros said defiantly,

"It's just a few cups of strong spirits, what do I care? I don't believe it can do anything to a person."

In the distance, Daemon Targaryen was originally complaining to his brother Viserys,

"The goats in the Vale give me more sexual desire than that woman! How am I supposed to have children with her?"

"You? What are you saying?"

Viserys clearly couldn't accept his brother's remarks and immediately warned him sternly.

"That is your wife, the head of House Royce of Runestone City. How can you so offend her reputation?! I advise you to control your tongue, or I don't mind cutting it off for you!"

Daemon, however, was completely unconcerned.

"If you can help me annul my marriage with that woman, forget my tongue, you can cut off anything else after Little Daemon is born!"

"How about it, brother? I'll help you contend for the position of Crown Prince, and after you ascend, you help me annul my marriage?"

Viserys, seeing his brother becoming more and more excessive, directly punched him.

"You treat Lady Royce well, understand? Otherwise, I will never forgive you!"

Viserys wanted to give him a few more punches but suddenly heard Daenerys and Boros arguing, so he quickly rushed over.

"A bet is a bet!"

Daenerys, seeing that Boros had been provoked by her, immediately said,

"But if you don't care about your body, I don't want to waste my fine wine. How about this: as long as you can drink this whole pot of dragonflame wine and be fine, I will supply dragonflame wine to Storm's End for free in the future!"

"But if you can't handle it, how about you give me ten fully equipped, fully loaded three-masted ships?"

"Ten fully loaded three-masted ships, do you know how much that costs? That's millions of gold dragons!"

Boros immediately jumped up upon hearing this, as if Daenerys had said something utterly unreasonable.

Daenerys also curled her lips disdainfully and said,

"If you in the Stormlands can't afford it, then forget it! Your mind isn't very bright to begin with, and if you drink too much and something happens, it would be a bit unfair to your old father, who is so loyal to the Royal Family!"

"Who are you talking about? A bet is a bet!"

Boros was instantly enraged when a little girl dared to look down on him.

Daenerys didn't even look at him but instead confirmed with Duke Beaumont,

"Duke Beaumont, do you support Boros in betting with me? If you don't agree, I won't believe he can fulfill his promise! After all, the Stormlands are not what they used to be, so don't let Boros continue to waste!"

Beaumont thought to himself,

"Who are you looking down on? The political status of Storm's End has declined, but when has our family ever lacked money?"

If it were anyone else saying this, Beaumont would surely recognize it as nothing more than a clumsy provocation. But being looked down upon by a mere young girl who had just come of age, Duke Beaumont also got a little hot-headed.

So he blurted out,

"I support him in betting with you!"
