Chapter 239: You Look Like You've Changed.
...
Reflecting on his current state, Seito knew that for a God, Divine Power was the most critical resource. Once a being reaches the God level, they can acquire Divine Power through meditation or by slaying powerful monsters. However, the gains from standard cultivation were painfully slow.
Fortunately, Seito had the benefit of his Space Set, so his rate of progression would undoubtedly remain superior.
"But still," Seito muttered to himself, "the amount of Divine Power required to reach the God King level is astronomical." Ten million points were needed for the next breakthrough.
He began to formulate a plan. "The 51st to 60th floors of the God Domain are definitely filled with Pseudo-God level Bosses. By that logic, the 61st to 70th floors likely house entities with God-level combat power."
Seito reasoned that he could afford to be reckless on floors 51 through 70 given his current strength. However, beyond the 70th floor, things would change. He might encounter genuine God King-level powerhouses there. Furthermore, the Gods within the God Domain game likely had backers or hidden trump cards he knew nothing about.
"No rush. I can lay low in the lower sixty floors for a while and use that time to help Maple and the others ascend," Seito decided. There was no shame in caution, and there was no shame in recklessness—the only shame was in dying from either. He would play it safe for the time being.
"Also..." Seito opened the interface for his Space Set to check the requirements for upgrading gear beyond Artifact-grade.
[Space Set]
[Set Upgrade Condition: 50 Divine Runes]
[Single Item Upgrade Condition: 10 Divine Runes]
These conditions had unlocked when he hit level 100, though he hadn't known what a "Divine Rune" was at the time. Now that he had ascended, he understood perfectly. Divine Runes were special patterns inscribed by Gods using the essence of the universe. Engraving them onto gear increased their power, and upon reaching a certain quantity, they would elevate the item's quality. It was incredibly practical.
Suppressing his divine aura, Seito used Spatial Shift to depart the island.
Seito's Bedroom.
Back home, Seito sat on his bed. He had to be careful now; the slightest leak of his divine aura would cause ordinary mortals to explode. Those like Kirukiru Amou and Kanade Tachibana, who had already begun their paths to godhood, would be fine, but those without supernatural manifestations would be unable to withstand even a fraction of his presence.
"School festival starts tomorrow." Thinking of the upcoming event, Seito lay down to sleep. Even though he no longer required rest as a God, the habit was deeply ingrained, and he found comfort in it.
The next morning, 6:00 AM.
Seito woke up first and headed to the kitchen. Having become a God, he could now control his biological clock with total precision—waking or sleeping whenever he chose. It was a pleasant feeling.
Half an hour later, Kirukiru Amou and Kanade Tachibana emerged from their rooms.
"You're finally finished with your seclusion," Amou said, walking over to the kitchen.
"Yeah," Seito nodded. "Finished late last night."
The two girls looked him up and down.
"I don't know how to describe it," Amou mused, "but you give off a divine, holy aura, and you feel... remarkably warm."
Seito had changed. Every movement he made now seemed imbued with a sacred, sanctified grace. It wasn't a feeling she disliked—in fact, she found herself drawn to it. While a God's aura could kill a mortal, the presence of a God itself felt incredibly comforting to those close to them. Kanade leaned in and hugged Seito, breathing in deeply; her reliance on him had only deepened.
"It's not that big a deal," Seito smiled. "You two head to the living room; breakfast will be ready soon."
"Let's just buy something at school for lunch," they suggested before leaving the kitchen. A while later, Seito brought the food to the table, and the three of them ate together.
"Do you feel anything special after becoming a God?" Amou asked.
Seito rested his chin in his hand. "Special? My interface has completely changed. I am now the only God of Space in this world. Not only did I gain the Authority of Space, but I also obtained the Authority of Blue Star itself. Simply put, I can decide the life or death of this entire planet with a single thought."
Amou and Kanade exchanged looks.
"I've heard that Gods are 'unspeakable' and 'unseen' by mortals," Kanade asked, her expression as stoic as ever. "Is that true?"
"It is." Seito nodded. If he released his aura, ordinary people would likely be unable to perceive him at all. To them, he would feel like an abstract, gentle, and holy presence manifesting in the world. They wouldn't remember his face, and even if they caught a glimpse, the memory would fade in the next second.
Looking at the two girls, Seito had a thought.
Snap.
He made a small incision on his own skin. A drop of brilliant, holy golden blood welled up. The blood radiated a sacred pressure—if a mortal were to see it, let alone touch it, they would perish instantly. Fortunately, the two girls before him were on the path to godhood, so they were unaffected.
They stared, dumbfounded. "Golden blood? Is this a unique trait of Gods?" Amou asked, peering at him. Had Seito truly shed his humanity?
"Yes, this is Divine Blood," Seito replied. "Do either of you want to try drinking it?"
Divine blood could heal all things, but it could also destroy everything. Seito was curious to see if his blood could boost their Divine Power values. After all, it wasn't his "life essence," so it shouldn't be harmful.
"I'll give it a try," Amou volunteered.
