The sun was warm and a gentle breeze brushed against their faces. Ash and his friends were enjoying a rare picnic on a wide stretch of meadow.
Pikachu was happily munching on a berry, while Togepi wobbled around nearby.
Suddenly, Ash paused mid-chew. His Aura Power keenly detected a steady, focused gaze coming from not far away.
He discreetly glanced out of the corner of his eye and saw a young man behind a bush. Wearing a beret and with a camera hanging around his neck, he was aiming a telephoto lens right at Pikachu.
Ash understood immediately, recognizing the Pokémon photographer named Todd Snap. He could already guess how things would unfold.
He continued eating as if nothing were wrong, wanting to see what Todd would do next.
Sure enough, after observing for a while, Todd lowered his camera in frustration. He walked out from his hiding spot, his face filled with apology and distress.
"Sorry to disturb you," Todd said, scratching his head awkwardly. "My name is Todd Snap, and I'm a Pokémon photographer. I want to take the best possible photo of Pikachu to enter into a very important photography competition.
But..." He looked at Pikachu, who had hidden behind Ash again. "Your Pikachu seems very shy. Every time I raise my camera, it becomes stiff or hides. I just can't catch the right expression."
Ash saw the sincerity and anxiety in Todd's eyes. Drawing on his memories of his past life, he immediately understood the reason.
This photographer must have overheard some exaggerated or misleading talk from Team Rocket about "the best photo"likely claiming that such a photo would bring immense profit. This had made him too obsessed, putting too much pressure on Pikachu.
Ash's eyes sparkled as a plan to "beat them at their own game" came to mind. Not only would he help Todd get a great photo, but he would also take the opportunity to teach Team Rocket a lesson.
"I see," Ash said with an understanding smile. "Mr. Snap, I think I know what the problem is. Pikachu doesn't hate being photographed; it just feels your tension and your overwhelming sense of purpose. That makes it uneasy. Also, I suspect... did you hear some people talking about how 'the best photo' could bring you 'huge benefits'?"
Todd was taken aback and nodded awkwardly. "Yes... yes. A few people calling themselves 'talent scouts' said that if I could take the best Pikachu photo, I'd get a massive cash prize and become famous overnight..."
Ash, Misty, and Brock exchanged glances, seeing the mutual helplessness in each other's eyes. This was definitely Team Rocket's style.
"Were they a group in white uniforms who spoke very dramatically?" Brock asked.
"Yes, exactly! You know them?" Todd asked in surprise.
"You could call them 'old acquaintances,'" Ash chuckled. "Mr. Snap, their information isn't trustworthy. However, we can certainly try to help you get a natural photo of Pikachu. But we'll need you to cooperate. We're going to put on a little show..."
Ash whispered his plan to Todd, Misty, and Brock.
After hearing it, everyone nodded with knowing smiles.
The plan began. First, Ash had Pikachu relax and play as usual.
Then, he told Todd to put away his professional camera for now and use the ordinary camera function on a Pokédex or some other inconspicuous device. He was to blend into the group and take snapshots secretly.
Meanwhile, Ash had Misty and Brock play nearby with Togepi, Bulbasaur, and the others, creating a relaxed and happy atmosphere to distract Pikachu from any lenses.
Sure enough, in a familiar and secure environment, Pikachu gradually let down its guard and returned to its usual lively and cute self.
It chased Togepi around, sniffed curiously at the flower on Bulbasaur's back, and made a greedy face when attracted by the food Brock was preparing... Every moment was natural and vivid.
Hidden among them, Todd used his inconspicuous equipment to keep snapping photos. A look of delight appeared on his face; he felt like he was finally capturing the light of Pikachu's soul.
Right then, according to plan, Ash raised his voice and said, "Ah, I heard there's a very rare Pokémon appearing nearby. I think it was called a 'Golden Pikachu'?"
This sentence was like a stone thrown into a pond, immediately creating ripples.
The Team Rocket trio, who had been lurking nearby and eavesdropping, took the bait!
"A Golden Pikachu?!"
"Even rarer than a normal Pikachu, meow!"
"We must catch it for the Boss!"
Team Rocket suddenly jumped out from their hiding spot, striking their signature poses.
"Prepare for trouble!"
"And make it double!"
"That Golden Pikachu belongs to us, meow!"
However, their appearance and shouting served as the perfect backdrop and stimulus.
Seeing these three old enemies, Pikachu spun around reflexively. Its cheek pouches crackled with brilliant sparks, its eyes grew sharp, and its expression filled with fighting spiritalong with a hint of "it's you guys again" helplessness and amusement. It struck a classic battle-ready pose!
"Now's the time!" Ash whispered to Todd.
Todd was ready. He swiftly raised his hidden professional camera and aimed it at the Pikachu that looked exceptionally vivid, domineering, and slightly comical against Team Rocket's flamboyant presence!

The sound of rapid shutters rang out clearly.
"Pikachuuuu!!" At the same time, Pikachu unleashed a powerful Thunderbolt, accurately striking Team Rocket before they could finish their next line.
"We're blasting off again!" Team Rocket flew into the distance like a shooting star, taking their fantasies of a Golden Pikachu with them.
As the electric light faded, Pikachu returned to its calm state. It looked at its paws with confusion, as if wondering why Team Rocket was so fragile this time.
Todd excitedly checked the photos in his camera. On the screen, framed by the deep blue sky and the exaggerated figures of Team Rocket, Pikachu was enveloped in golden electricity. Its eyes were determined, its expression vivid and powerfula perfect fusion of its cuteness, agility, and strength!
"Fantastic! This is exactly what I wanted! The best Pikachu photo!" Todd was ecstatic, thanking Ash repeatedly. "Thank you, Ash! Not only did you help me get the photo, but you made me realize that the best pictures aren't achieved through force or greed, but from understanding Pokémon and capturing their most authentic moments!"
Ash accepted the thanks with a smile.
Todd prepared to leave, satisfied. But after walking a few steps, he stopped and looked back at Ash and Pikachu, a new sense of curiosity and determination on his face.
"Wait, Ash!" Todd hurried back, his eyes shining. "I've changed my mind! One photo isn't nearly enough! The unique bond between you and your Pikachu, and all your Pokémon partners... every story that happens on your journey is so worth recording! These are far more precious than any staged shot!"
He raised his camera, his voice full of passion. "Please let me travel with you for a while! I want to use my lens to record your real adventures! I promise not to interfere; I just want to capture those natural moments! Please!"
Ash looked at Misty and Brock. They both smiled and shrugged, indicating they didn't mind.
Ash looked at Pikachu. Pikachu chirped "Pika-pika," seemingly no longer put off by this photographer who no longer pressured it and only watched silently.
"Alright, Mr. Snap," Ash nodded with a smile. "Welcome to join our journey for a stretch. But our travels are full of surprises and Team Rocket, you know?"
"Haha, I wouldn't have it any other way! That's exactly the kind of material I need!" Todd happily adjusted his camera strap. "Well then, for the road ahead, I look forward to working with you, Ash, and everyone else!"
And so, a passionate recorder of art joined Ash's traveling partythe Pokémon photographer, Todd Snap.
He no longer obsessed over a single "best photo." Instead, he began to follow in the footsteps of Ash and his friends, using his lens to faithfully document the chapters of adventure shining with growth and bonds.
