1.Once, in a beautiful lake filled with pink and white Saroj (lotuses), lived a lonely Saras Pakhi (Crane). While other birds flew away to the city, this bird stayed to guard the flowers he loved.
2.One day, a hunter arrived to pick all the lotuses. The bird didn't fly away in fear. Instead, he stood in front of the most beautiful lotus and spread his wings. He spoke to the hunter, "These flowers are the soul of this lake. If you take them, the water will turn sad."
3.The hunter was moved by the bird's bravery and love for nature. He put down his basket and promised never to harm the lake again. It is said that the Goddess Saraswati was so pleased that she turned one lotus into gold to thank the brave bird.
