Chapter 77 - 77 Arc 6: The Legacy of the Silver Pulse

Chapter 1: The Silver Morning

Ten years had passed since the "Great Upload," and the Fused World had transformed into a literal paradise of bio-resonance. The jagged skyscrapers of the old ATC were now draped in "Memory-Vines" that pulsed with a soft, silver light whenever a person and a pet shared a moment of genuine connection. There were no more mana-meters or digital rank-displays. Instead, the air itself—the Silver Pulse—carried the intent of the late Professor Leo Heart.

At the Heart Ranch, which had grown into the world's premier "Sanctuary-Academy," a new class of students was arriving. Among them was Ren Heart, a fourteen-year-old with messy black hair and eyes that flickered between deep violet and a sudden, startling gold. He was the grandson of Jason and the nephew of the legendary Leo, but to Ren, that legacy was a mountain he wasn't sure he could climb.

"Ren! If you miss the gravity-bus, I'm telling Mom!" a sharp voice called out.

Ren looked up to see his cousin, Mina, the daughter of Natasha. She was already hovering ten feet in the air, seated comfortably on a Cloud-Leopard whose fur looked like shifting storm-fronts.

"I'm coming, I'm coming," Ren muttered, adjusting the straps of his worn leather satchel. He looked down at the small, shivering creature tucked into his jacket—a Copper-Scaled Newt that most breeders would have called "Trash-Grade." It had no wings, no fangs, and its only ability was to turn slightly warmer when it was happy.

"You're really bringing that to the Opening Ceremony?" Mina asked, landing beside him. "The Star-Sect kids are bringing Origin-Grade Phoenixes this year. You're a Heart, Ren. You should be riding a Dragon."

"He's not 'that,' he's Pip," Ren said, gently patting the newt. "And Uncle Leo said the best pets are the ones who choose you, not the ones you buy."

As they boarded the mag-lev bus—now powered by the gentle, recycled breath of the World-Tree—Ren looked out at the horizon. The two suns were rising in perfect synchronization. He could feel a hum in the back of his mind, a warm, guiding presence that felt like a familiar smile.

"Welcome back," the wind seemed to whisper.

The bus ascended toward the World-Tree Academy, which now floated amongst the highest branches. Below them, the "Wild Zones" were no longer battlegrounds; they were classrooms. But as the bus passed over a particularly deep canyon, Ren's gold eye flared. For a split second, he didn't see the lush forest. He saw a flicker of grey static—the ghost of a "Null-Zone" that shouldn't exist anymore.

He blinked, and it was gone. But Pip, the little newt, began to shiver violently. The Silver Pulse was steady, but something underneath it—something ancient and forgotten—was beginning to wake up.
