Chapter 55 - Chapter 55: Giving Her the Property Deed

When they arrived home, the Old Madam was still awake.

Only after she saw Rong Ci return in Feng Tingshen's car did she finally go to her room to rest with a peaceful mind.

Once upstairs, Rong Ci called Rong Changsheng to inform him of the progress. Just as she finished that call, Yu Moxun's number flashed on her screen.

Half an hour later, after finishing her calls and returning to the bedroom, Rong Ci found that Feng Tingshen had already showered and was leaning against the headboard, reading a book.

When she entered, Feng Tingshen looked up from his book, glanced at her briefly, and then returned his attention to the pages.

Rong Ci averted her eyes as well, proceeding to shower and finish her skincare routine.

By the time she was done, it was quite late. She cast a glance at Feng Tingshen.

Back when he had treated her with cold indifference, she had grown accustomed to it; being alone with him hadn't felt particularly uncomfortable. But now that he had helped her, their relationship had thawed slightly, and she felt a sudden uncertainty about how to interact with him.

Regardless, their relationship wasn't going to undergo any fundamental change.

With that thought in mind, Rong Ci quietly climbed into bed, ready to sleep.

The moment she lay down, Feng Tingshen set aside his book, reached out, and turned off the light.

It was as if he had been sitting there reading just to wait for her, simply to turn off the light.

Rong Ci was momentarily stunned.

I'm overthinking things, she told herself.

Her heart settled back into a calm rhythm, and it wasn't long before she drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, the Old Madam again tried to have Feng Tingshen drive Rong Ci to the office.

Rong Ci refused once more. "Grandmother, I have business meetings today and need to be out and about. It wouldn't be convenient without my own car."

The Old Madam frowned and looked toward Feng Tingshen. She clearly wanted him to speak up and offer to drive her himself.

However, Feng Tingshen continued his breakfast in silence, showing no intention of following the Old Madam's lead.

Seeing this, Rong Ci lowered her head. Seeing that Feng Tingshen was unwilling, the Old Madam didn't press the matter further.

In truth, Rong Ci had no business meetings that day. She said it primarily because she didn't want to sit in his car again and didn't want to trouble him.

The day passed without anything special happening. Rong Ci stayed at the office, working overtime until past nine o'clock before driving herself home.

Upon arriving, she was surprised to find that Feng Tingshen was already back. Usually, unless there was something specific going on, he stayed out very late.

He wasn't in the bedroom. Rong Ci switched on the light and set her bag aside. Just as she was about to head to Feng Jingxin's room to check on her, she noticed a small red book sitting on her dressing table.

Rong Ci paused.

Though they shared a bedroom, the left side of the bed was Feng Tingshen's territory; she never ventured there without reason. Similarly, the right side was hers, and Feng Tingshen never stepped into it. Their personal belongingswallets, watches, skincare productswere always kept in their respective places. They never mixed them up.

Therefore, there was no way Feng Tingshen had placed this red book there by mistake.

Thinking this, Rong Ci walked over.

Only as she drew closer did she realize it was a Property Deed.

A suspicion immediately formed in her mind. she hurriedly opened it to check.

It was exactly as she thought: the deed for the villa directly opposite her uncle's house. Moreover, the ownership field listed only her name.

Before she could even process this, Feng Tingshen walked into the room.

Hearing his footsteps, Rong Ci turned to look at him and said seriously, "I've seen the Property Deed. Thank you." Before he could respond, she added, "I don't have that much money on hand right now. The cost for the house, I will repay you in a while"

Although it was an older villa district, the environment was excellent. Combined with the fact that property prices in the Capital City were the highest in the country, that villa couldn't have cost less than two or three hundred million.

She couldn't produce that kind of sum right now.

Feng Tingshen had only recently returned. He was loosening his tie when he heard her words. He seemed to find them somewhat amusing as he raised a brow slightly and said indifferently, "You want to give me money?"

"Yes, I"

"No need." He tossed his tie aside. "This much money, I can afford."

With those words, he unbuckled his watch, set it down, and went into the bathroom.

Rong Ci stared at his retreating back, stunned, and didn't insist further.

Since their marriage, she had almost never asked him for anything to avoid being a burden. Thinking about it, this house was likely the first thing he had ever offered her of his own accord in all these years.

She decided to treat it as a memento for their marriage, which was drawing to a close.

With that thought, she placed the deed into her drawer.

After being busy for two or three consecutive days, Rong Ci's schedule finally cleared up on the fourth day.

Since both she and Feng Tingshen had been occupied, they hadn't spent much time with Feng Jingxin. Around noon, Feng Jingxin called, asking if she was free and mentioning that it had been a long time since Rong Ci had picked her up from school.

Hearing this, and seeing that she didn't have much work left, Rong Ci left the office early that afternoon to pick up Feng Jingxin.

Jingxin told her that she wanted to eat a meal cooked by her mother. Once they got home, Rong Ci changed her clothes and headed into the kitchen.

The Old Madam was happy to see Rong Ci home early. Seeing her cooking personally, she called Feng Tingshen and told him to come home for dinner.

On the other end of the line, Feng Tingshen declined. "Grandmother, I still have things to do at the company."

The Old Madam was displeased, but then she smiled again. After hanging up, she said to Rong Ci, "Ci, why don't you go deliver dinner to Tingshen in a little while?"

Rong Ci paused, then tried to decline. "Grandmother, since he's busy, we shouldn't disturb him"

"No matter how busy he is, he still has to eat, doesn't he?"

"Grandma"

Rong Ci had barely spoken before the Old Madam settled it. "It's decided then."

The Old Madam then began directing Auntie Liu and the others to prepare two extra dishes.

Given the Old Madam's stance, Rong Ci couldn't say much more.

But if she really had to deliver food to Feng Tingshen, she didn't even know which office he was at right now. How was she supposed to deliver it? Besides, Feng Tingshen likely had other plans after finishing his work. Even if she took the food there, it would probably be a wasted trip.

Thinking of this, she found an opportunity to go upstairs and call Feng Tingshen.

After a moment, he picked up. "What is it?"

"Grandmother wants me to bring you dinner," Rong Ci said before he could speak further. "Do you have other arrangements? If you do, I'll let her know."

She felt that Feng Tingshen would never actually let her bring him food. She was only saying this to get him to coordinate a story with her.

"Yes, tell Grandmother"

Just as Feng Tingshen started to speak, Rong Ci heard Lin Wu's voice in the background.

"Tingshen, dinner is here."

Rong Ci froze.

Feng Tingshen replied to Lin Wu, "Alright."

Then, he spoke into the phone to Rong Ci. "I have arrangements for dinner here. Tell Grandmother."

Rong Ci wasn't surprised.

She said, "Alright, I understand. I'll tell her."

"Mm."

With that, Feng Tingshen hung up.
