It was a day like the rest of the days. The sun rose with a soft brightness, accompanied by a blue sky. My brother and I were studying in high school as usual. As soon as the bell rang, we both started racing toward home. Yes, that person was my brother.
When I reached the house, and of course I arrived first, I rang the doorbell so my sister could open the door for me because I had forgotten the key in my blue jacket. Strangely, some time passed while I kept ringing the bell, but my sister still did not open the door.
"Maybe she went out with her friends or to buy some things," I said to myself.
I waited for my brother to arrive. He did not join the race that I had started, but continued walking until he arrived.
"Why are you so late? Do you know that I've been waiting for half an hour?" I said to him.
"You are really annoying. Who told you to start a race without even consulting me?" he replied coldly. Then he walked toward the door, took his key out of his pocket, and opened it. He turned on the light in the hallway. I walked behind him, and we both took off our shoes at the door. He went ahead of me to the kitchen and turned on the light there as well.
Suddenly, I saw a sharp, disgusted, serious look in his eyes, mixed with some shock.
"What's wrong?" I asked in surprise.
He did not answer me and continued staring with that shocked look, which made me curious to know the reason.
"What's the matter? Is there something in the kitchen for you to keep staring like that?" I asked again while slowly moving toward him with sincere intent. But at that moment I felt a strange feeling in my heart. His expression had filled my heart with fear. As I walked toward him, I began to hear the sound of my footsteps: knock, knock, knock. Then I looked toward the kitchen to see what he was seeing.
There, I saw a sight that pierced my heart like a bullet.
A shock that was not expected.
Yes… that moment was the beginning of everything.
