"Old man, do you have any techniques here? Teach me something," Broly said to Master Roshi with rare sincerity in his voice. "That Merus guy told me this—I may have overwhelming power, but I barely have any actual combat technique. My fighting style is too straightforward. I just crush people with speed and strength."
Master Roshi's eyes instantly lit up.
Technique?
When it came to technique, he was an expert!
Maybe his raw power couldn't compare to these monsters anymore, but his centuries of martial arts experience were the real deal.
"Hah! You came to the right person!" Roshi proudly puffed out his chest, wisdom gleaming behind his sunglasses. "Your grandpa here really does have a special technique!"
"I've spent many years researching it. Still haven't officially named it yet! It's a martial arts skill I developed by combining decades of combat experience with the natural flow of movement itself!"
"What kind of technique?" Broly scratched his head curiously.
"Come, I'll demonstrate!" Roshi stood up, dusted the sand off himself, and walked toward the open beach. He beckoned toward Broly.
"Broly—attack me!"
"…Aren't you afraid I'll accidentally slap you to death?" Broly wiped away nervous sweat.
He was genuinely worried.
Roshi might have lived for more than three hundred years and possessed extraordinary physical vitality, but he was still old.
And Broly's strength was simply too terrifying.
One careless hit and Roshi might literally turn into paste.
Master Roshi: "..."
"You brat… can't you hold back a little?" Roshi glared at him irritably. "I'm not asking you to attack at full power! Control your strength!"
"Then how much power should I use?" Broly asked seriously.
He truly meant it.
He didn't want to hurt Roshi.
"About one-tenth," Roshi estimated confidently after thinking for a moment.
At that level, he should be able to handle it.
Broly's pupils contracted.
One-tenth?
Did this old man even understand what that meant?
Broly's current power level had already reached 200 billion.
One-tenth of that would still be 20 billion.
You want me to attack you with 20 billion power level?!
"…That doesn't sound safe at all. I might really kill you by accident," Broly muttered awkwardly.
"Relax. I know what I'm doing." Roshi inhaled deeply and assumed a martial arts stance on the beach.
"You think I've spent hundreds of years doing nothing? I have my own methods."
"You sure?" Broly still hesitated.
"Hurry up already!" Roshi waved him over confidently. "Let your grandpa show you true martial arts!"
"…Alright then." Broly finally made up his mind.
But internally, he had already adjusted his plan.
If Roshi really died, he'd just gather the Dragon Balls and revive him afterward.
"I'm not that easy to kill," Roshi said with confidence as his aura shifted into a mysterious, focused state.
BOOM!
Golden light shimmered faintly around Broly as energy surged through his body.
Of course—
There was no way Broly would actually use 20 billion power level against Roshi.
That would erase him instantly.
So this time, Broly only used power equivalent to 100 million.
He had calculated it carefully.
At that level, Roshi might still survive… assuming treatment arrived fast enough.
Yes.
That should work.
Broly's gaze sharpened.
The next instant—
His figure vanished from the spot!
His speed had reached an astonishing level.
Almost simultaneously, Broly appeared directly in front of Roshi and threw a punch!
The air screamed from the force of the attack.
Although the strike only contained 100 million power level, its speed was still absurdly fast. Ordinary people wouldn't even be able to see it—let alone dodge.
But then—
Something shocking happened.
Just before Broly's fist connected—
Master Roshi's body shifted slightly in an incredibly strange motion.
Only slightly.
Yet Broly's punch brushed past Roshi's clothes and completely missed.
"Huh?" Broly froze.
A coincidence?
Broly attacked again.
This time from the side.
Faster.
Sharper.
Roshi dodged again.
His movement was minimal, yet perfectly timed.
Broly's eyes widened instantly.
He launched three more punches in rapid succession, pushing his speed to the limit of that 100 million-level output.
One punch aimed for the face.
One targeted the stomach.
One swept toward the legs.
The three attacks almost sealed every escape route.
At least, that was how it looked to Broly.
There should have been no way to dodge.
Yet—
Roshi's body twisted in a way that almost defied physics.
His feet shifted lightly.
Like a leaf drifting through a violent storm.
Chaotic.
Weightless.
Unpredictable.
And every attack missed.
All three.
Broly stood there in shock.
Because he clearly sensed something familiar.
This dodging technique…
It resembled Merus' movements.
Not identical.
Far rougher.
Far slower.
But the principle was similar.
Predicting the opponent's movements in advance and evading before the attack even landed.
"So cool! You can actually dodge all that?" Broly exclaimed excitedly, his eyes sparkling.
"Old man, what's this technique called?"
"Well? Impressed now?" Roshi stroked his beard proudly, though his breathing had become noticeably heavier.
Those evasions had consumed a considerable amount of stamina.
But his face remained full of pride.
"Then I'm going again!" Broly immediately grew even more excited and prepared to continue attacking.
"Enough! That's enough!" Roshi hurriedly waved both hands and stepped backward. Sweat had already appeared across his forehead.
Broly stopped immediately and looked confused.
"This technique has limits…" Roshi admitted honestly while wiping away sweat.
"If you keep attacking, eventually I'll get hit. My energy level is too low. I can't sustain it for long."
Even though Broly's attacks only carried 100 million power level, the speed behind them forced Roshi to focus completely just to barely dodge.
And Broly still wasn't serious yet.
If Broly truly attacked with intent—or used a wide-range attack—Roshi would have no chance of avoiding it.
"This really is similar to Merus' technique," Broly commented thoughtfully. "Merus dodged me the same way. But his version is smoother… like he doesn't even need to think."
"Really? Merus can do this too?" Roshi looked slightly surprised before sighing with admiration.
"The world really is vast… I spent years developing this technique, yet someone else mastered something similar long ago."
But Roshi wasn't discouraged.
If anything—
He became even more excited.
That meant his research direction had been correct all along.
"By the way, old man," Broly suddenly asked curiously, "if this technique is so amazing, why didn't you use it against King Piccolo back then?"
"Ahem…" Roshi coughed awkwardly.
"I hadn't developed it yet during that time."
"And even if I had, it wouldn't have changed much. This is only a defensive technique. At best, it would've let me survive against King Piccolo for two or three more minutes. But I still wouldn't have been able to defeat him."
After a pause, he added seriously:
"When the gap in power becomes absolute, technique can only delay defeat—not overturn it."
Broly nodded.
He understood.
"So? Want to learn it?" Roshi smiled expectantly. "With your level of power, if you master this technique, your true combat ability will become even more terrifying. You're already overwhelmingly strong. Add refined evasion on top of that, and you'll be unstoppable."
"Then teach me," Broly agreed immediately.
"But shouldn't we give it a proper name first? We can't just keep calling it 'that technique.'"
"Uh… I haven't really decided," Roshi admitted.
He had developed the skill for himself and rarely used it, so he never bothered naming it.
"Make it sound cool," Broly grinned. "Something powerful."
Roshi thought for a moment.
"Then… let's call it the Starflow Instinct Technique."
He continued explaining:
"It means the body moves freely like the ever-changing paths of the stars—unpredictable, traceless, impossible to grasp."
"Starflow Instinct Technique…" Broly repeated it and nodded approvingly.
"Not bad. Sounds pretty strong."
"For the next period of time, you'll train under me and learn this technique properly," Roshi said while patting Broly on the shoulder.
For some reason—
He suddenly felt like the kid had finally grown up.
This brat finally understands the importance of training and learning.
At last, someone might inherit the martial arts wisdom he spent centuries accumulating.
Then suddenly—
Roshi remembered something.
His face darkened immediately.
"Hold on! Were you the one talking to me while I was at that club in West City?!"
"Huh?" Broly blinked innocently.
"What did I say?"
Then he tilted his head with an expression so pure it looked almost angelic.
"Old man… what were you doing at a club in West City? What's a club?"
Master Roshi: "..."
Roshi instantly became speechless.
"Ahem… never mind. I probably heard wrong," he coughed awkwardly before changing the subject immediately.
"Training officially starts tomorrow! Rest well today!"
And so—
For the following period of time, Broly began properly training under Master Roshi, learning the so-called Starflow Instinct Technique.
Blanch also trained alongside them.
Day after day passed.
And the date of Vegeta and Nappa's arrival grew closer and closer.
King Kai's Planet
Son Goku raised both hands high into the air, gathering energy into a Spirit Bomb.
Then he compressed the Spirit Bomb into his right hand.
"Alright, King Kai, I'm ready," Goku said confidently.
"Good!" King Kai nodded while levitating a stone into the air.
"Your goal is to hit this stone at super speed!"
Goku nodded seriously.
"Go!"
WHOOSH!
The stone began spinning rapidly around King Kai.
"Faster!" King Kai waved his hand again.
The stone accelerated to an unbelievable speed—so fast it became invisible to the naked eye.
Goku focused intensely.
Then suddenly raised his arm.
The Spirit Bomb shot upward instantly.
BOOM!
The attack struck the stone directly and exploded in the air.
A smile spread across Goku's face.
"Oh? You hit it effortlessly…" King Kai marveled in amazement.
"Well done, Goku! I didn't expect you to become this proficient with the Spirit Bomb already!"
"It's thanks to all the hard training!" Goku replied with a grin.
"As I explained before," King Kai said seriously, "the Spirit Bomb gathers energy from grass, trees, humans, animals, the atmosphere—everything living in the world."
"Even on a tiny planet like this, the Spirit Bomb possesses tremendous destructive power."
"Earth is many times larger than my planet, and it also has the Sun providing an enormous energy source."
"The Spirit Bomb you create there could become unimaginably powerful."
"If you lose control, you might even destroy the very Earth you're trying to protect."
"So unless absolutely necessary—never use it."
"I understand," Goku nodded solemnly.
"But it's fine. The Kaio-ken should already be enough to defeat them!"
Then he grinned again.
"Besides, Broly's there too."
"That's true," King Kai agreed with a nod.
"With Broly's strength, dealing with those two Saiyans would be effortless."
"But still…" Goku clenched his fists firmly.
"I want to defeat them using my own power if possible."
"The day of their arrival is getting close…" King Kai looked toward the stars and calculated carefully.
"Hm… they'll arrive on Earth tomorrow."
"Tomorrow already? Time really flies." Goku scratched his head.
Then suddenly—
King Kai froze.
"W-Wait! That's not right!"
"Huh? What happened, King Kai?" Goku asked.
"I forgot to include the time you'll need to travel back across Snake Way!"
Goku: "..."
"Wait a second! Can't you just send me directly back to Earth?" Goku complained helplessly.
"Do I seriously have to run Snake Way again? It took me months to get here!"
"With your current strength, you should be able to fly back in about two days," King Kai estimated.
"And if necessary… ask Broly to come pick you up."
"That's true." Goku nodded thoughtfully.
"Then I'll start heading back now. If I can't make it in time, I'll have Broly come get me."
"That works," King Kai agreed.
"Then I'm leaving!"
Goku immediately shot into the air.
"Be careful!" King Kai warned seriously.
"Your enemies are far stronger than you imagine. Don't underestimate them."
"And don't assume that just because Broly is around, you can let your guard down."
"I know, King Kai!" Goku laughed while giving a thumbs-up.
"I can't rely on Broly forever!"
Then he smiled brightly.
"Thanks for all your guidance! If I die again, I'll come visit!"
WHOOSH!
Goku departed from King Kai's planet and rushed back onto Snake Way.
Watching his disappearing figure, King Kai slowly smiled.
What incredible potential…
And such a pure heart.
He never expected someone like this to exist among mortals.
Perhaps one day…
Goku might actually reach Broly's level.
If Broly was a born genius—
Then Son Goku was a genius forged through effort.
King Kai thought extremely highly of him.
The Next Morning — Earth
Vegeta and Nappa's spaceships finally arrived on Earth.
BOOOOM!!
Two deafening explosions shook the planet as their pods crashed directly onto a highway in East City, leaving behind enormous craters.
Nearby civilians panicked and gathered around in confusion, having no idea what had happened.
Creak…
The spaceship hatches opened.
Vegeta and Nappa emerged from the pods and floated above the streets while observing their surroundings.
The citizens stared at them nervously and whispered among themselves.
"So this is Earth?" Vegeta sneered lightly.
"This planet looks pathetic."
"Prince Vegeta," Nappa grinned viciously, "there's no need to greet these low-class Earthlings, right?"
He casually raised one finger upward.
BOOOOM!!
A massive explosion erupted instantly.
East City vanished in a flash, reduced entirely to dust and ruin.
"Hahaha! Looks like my greeting was a little too enthusiastic!" Nappa laughed proudly while floating in the sky.
"Don't overdo it, Nappa," Vegeta scolded coldly.
"If you damage the planet too much, it won't sell for a good price."
"It's fine, Prince Vegeta," Nappa laughed.
"Besides, we mainly came here for that Treasure Pot of Delicacies."
"There are countless planets like this in the universe anyway. This world looks low-grade."
"Forget that for now," Vegeta said while activating his scouter.
"First we find Broly."
Nappa also activated his scouter and began scanning for high-power targets.
Then—
BANG! BANG!
Both scouters exploded instantly.
Vegeta: "..."
Nappa: "..."
The two froze in shock and stared at each other.
What just happened?
What the hell was that?
"P-Prince Vegeta…" Nappa's face turned pale.
"I'm not seeing things, right?"
Vegeta's pupils shrank violently as fear appeared in his eyes.
Because just moments earlier—
Both scouters had detected a power level exceeding 20,000.
And the maximum reading their scouters could handle was exactly 20,000.
Once the reading surpassed that threshold—
The devices exploded.
"A power level above 20,000…?" Nappa's lips twitched uncontrollably.
His face became increasingly ugly.
"How is that possible?" Vegeta clenched his fists tightly, his own expression turning pale.
If only one scouter had malfunctioned, maybe they could blame faulty equipment.
But both devices exploded simultaneously.
That meant only one thing.
Someone here truly possessed a power level above 20,000.
"Who the hell is it?" Nappa asked nervously.
"Could it be Broly?"
After all—
Nappa's own power level was only 4,000.
Vegeta's was merely 18,000.
Facing an opponent above 20,000 made both of them uneasy.
Vegeta said nothing.
His face grew darker and darker.
"Prince Vegeta!" Nappa hurriedly said.
"Could the scouters have malfunctioned?"
"Hmph. The odds of both breaking at the same time are extremely low," Vegeta replied coldly, veins bulging on his forehead.
Then his eyes shifted toward the spaceships below.
"Move. We're leaving this planet immediately."
He made the decision instantly.
"At the moment the scouters exploded, I saw that power signature rapidly approaching our location!"
Nappa: "..."
Nappa opened his mouth—
But swallowed his words.
Prince Vegeta…
Are you seriously scared?
We spent over ten months traveling here.
And now we're leaving immediately after landing?!
Isn't that ridiculous?
"Why are you standing there? Hurry up!" Vegeta barked impatiently while flying toward his spaceship.
At this point, he no longer cared about Broly.
That power level was simply too terrifying.
"But whose power is it?" Nappa asked uneasily while following behind.
"Why is it so insanely high?"
"Hmph. How should I know?" Vegeta snorted.
But just as the two approached their ships—
"Hey! Prince Vegeta! Nappa!"
A voice suddenly called out from nearby.
Both Saiyans immediately turned toward the source.
That voice—
Was extremely familiar.
The speaker was none other than Raditz.
WHOOSH!
Raditz flew over from the distance and landed beside them.
What Vegeta and Nappa didn't know was—
The reason their scouters exploded earlier…
Was because they had detected Raditz's power level.
After all, Raditz still had no idea how to suppress his ki.
And his battle power had already reached 100,000.
More specifically—
100,200.
And frustratingly enough—
It still hadn't increased at all.
His power seemed permanently stuck at the 100,000 wall.
When Vegeta and Nappa landed, Raditz had noticed them immediately and rushed over at full speed.
"Raditz?" Nappa blinked in surprise.
Even Vegeta stopped retreating and stared toward him.
"Prince Vegeta! Nappa! Where are you two going?" Raditz asked cheerfully, a bright smile spreading across his face.
