There was someone in Liang Wei's life who had always been different: Mei Ling.
If Zhang Kai was the pride of his school, Mei Ling was the pride of hers. Beautiful, intelligent, hardworking, and kind to everyone she met—teachers praised her, classmates trusted her, and neighbors described her as "perfect."
But Liang Wei knew something no one else did.
He had known her since they were five. Their families used to be close before his life fell apart. Even now, Mei Ling treated him warmly.
She trusted him with things she wouldn't tell anyone else. Mostly because she saw him as something safe. A brother.

"Don't laugh," she had said. "It's actually really painful sometimes."
He had promised to keep it a secret.
That afternoon, while walking home, Liang Wei saw Mei Ling near the entrance of her neighborhood.
Her face was bright red.
Not from running. From embarrassment.
She shifted nervously, avoiding eye contact at first, before finally spotting him.
"Liang Wei?" she said quietly.
He nodded. "You're having trouble again, right?"
Her eyes widened slightly. "…You can tell?"
Liang Wei smiled faintly. "Go home. Sit in the bathroom."
She blinked. "That's it?"
"Just trust me."
Reluctantly, Mei Ling went inside. A few minutes later, Liang Wei pictured her face clearly in his mind and activated his power.
Now.
Immediately, relief came.
Several minutes later, Mei Ling rushed outside, her face a mixture of shock and disbelief.
"How did you do that?" she asked.
"I didn't know," Liang Wei said calmly.
She stared at him, realization slowly dawning. "…It really wasn't coincidence."
From that day onward, whenever she faced the same problem, she would quietly come find him. And every time, he solved it.
For Mei Ling, Liang Wei had become the one person who could fix something that had troubled her for years.
And for Liang Wei… for the first time in his life, someone truly needed him. Someone important.
