Dawn had barely broken over Valoria when the first warning reached them.
Aria was still standing outside Warehouse Seventeen, Rafael's hand wrapped tightly around hers.
Behind them, the police vehicles and Ricci security forces were securing the building. Damian Vale had been taken into custody. Damon Hale was being questioned. Rafael's father had been freed and was receiving medical attention.
For the first time in eighteen years, Aria believed the nightmare might finally be over.
Then Noah came running toward them.
"Aria."
Something in his voice made her turn immediately.
"What happened?"
Noah held up his tablet.
"We have a problem."
Rafael's expression hardened.
"What kind?"
Noah looked at Aria.
"The vault."
Aria's eyes narrowed.
"What about it?"
"It wasn't empty."
She glanced toward the warehouse.
"We already knew that."
"No."
Noah shook his head.
"You don't understand."
He turned the screen toward her.
