Chapter 77 - The Tragic Hidan, An Experimental Subject?

The sun set in the west, and dusk arrived.

Under a lush green forest canopy,

a fairly handsome young man lay lazily on the ground.

Beside him rested a strange long weapon—

a scythe composed of three blood-red blades.

"Another boring day…"

Hidan yawned.

He was already wondering whether he should kill a few more people tonight.

Whoosh—whoosh—

Several figures rushed over.

They stopped nearby, looking at the young man in surprise.

No matter how they looked at him, he didn't resemble a twisted cultist or a crazed murderer.

After soaking in the hot springs and enjoying a delicious meal of Land of Hot Water specialties, the group had come here under Karin's eager urging.

But they hadn't expected the killer to look nothing like what they imagined.

"Hm?"

Hidan looked at the newcomers in surprise.

Instantly becoming alert, he grabbed his weapon—the Bloodthirsty Triple-Bladed Scythe—and stood up.

His eyes first lingered on Tsunade,

then shifted to Shizune, Ren, and Karin beside her.

With a cheerful smile, he asked,

"Two beautiful ladies, and the little brother and sister beside you—do you want to join the Jashin Cult?"

"The Jashin Cult? So you really are the murderer!"

Karin clenched her fists and glared at him angrily.

"We'd never join some evil cult like that!"

"It's not an evil cult!"

Hidan waved his scythe excitedly.

"Our doctrine is very free! Once you join the Jashin Cult, you can do whatever you want—even kill people whenever you like. Lord Jashin won't blame you. In fact, he'll be very pleased!"

"I'm not interested in listening to your twisted doctrine."

Tsunade crossed her arms and leaned against a nearby tree.

She clearly had no intention of acting personally.

Instead, she gestured toward Ren.

"Ren, he's yours."

"Alright."

Ren placed his hands in his pockets

and slowly walked toward Hidan.

He was very interested in that so-called immortal body.

Meanwhile—

the ground began to change strangely.

Large patches of grass suddenly sprouted,

and colorful flowers even bloomed among them.

"Huh?"

The sudden change made Hidan pause in surprise.

But looking at Ren's arrogant approach, he grinned cruelly.

"Then I'll just sacrifice all of you to Lord Jashin!"

Ignoring Ren's age,

he swung the blood-red scythe mercilessly.

It slashed down viciously.

Clang—

Ren didn't dodge.

A pillar of ironwood suddenly erupted from the ground in front of him.

It firmly blocked the strange and razor-sharp triple-bladed scythe.

Sparks flew as metal clashed against wood.

The sight was shocking.

"What?!"

Hidan's eyes widened in disbelief.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

In the next instant—

countless vines burst out from the ground.

They shot toward him like lightning.

Hidan's expression changed drastically.

He quickly retreated while swinging his scythe repeatedly to cut them down.

But—

the next moment,

several vines wrapped around his legs.

Like venomous snakes, they coiled upward along his body.

Before Hidan could even struggle,

he was already tightly bound like a giant dumpling.

His arms were pulled apart by two vines,

his entire body stretched into a cross shape.

He was lifted high into the air.

His scythe fell to the ground.

Filled with anger and unwillingness, he shouted loudly,

"Damn it! Let me go! Let me go!"

Right before Tsunade, Karin, and Shizune's astonished eyes,

the bound Hidan began to undergo a terrifying transformation.

His entire body turned pitch black,

covered with white patterns.

His previously handsome face now resembled a demon.

It was terrifying to behold.

"Oh?"

Ren raised an eyebrow.

He lightly clenched his raised right hand.

The wooden vines binding Hidan tightened further.

At the same time,

Hidan's chakra began draining rapidly.

Within moments he became extremely weak,

no longer able to resist.

Squelch—

Without hesitation,

a sharp vine pierced straight through his heart.

"Bwah—!"

Severely injured and powerless to resist, Hidan spat out a mouthful of blood.

"AAAAAH!!! That hurts like hell!!!"

Blood poured from his mouth, yet he glared fiercely at Ren as if nothing had happened.

"You bastard! If you've got guts, kill me!"

"I'm immortal! Hahahaha!!!"

"What?!"

Seeing this,

Karin and Shizune were shocked.

Even Tsunade's pupils shrank.

They all stepped closer to Ren.

They stared at Hidan—

his body pierced through by vines,

his heart impaled,

blood flowing everywhere—

yet he was still alive and yelling.

It was unbelievable.

"An immortal body, huh?"

Ren stared at Hidan and smiled faintly.

He snapped his fingers.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

In an instant,

several more vines shot out.

Their sharp tips thrust forward violently.

"AAAAAH!!!"

Blood splattered everywhere.

Hidan screamed repeatedly.

His face twisted in agony while blood continued to spill from his mouth.

Another vine wrapped around the large scythe on the ground.

Without mercy—

it swung down.

Slash!

Hidan's head was chopped clean off.

The bloody head rolled across the ground.

"Ah—damn it! You cut off my head!!"

To Tsunade and the others' shock,

the severed head suddenly shouted.

Its bloodshot eyes glared at Ren with intense hatred.

"That hurts! It hurts like hell! You damn brat!!!"

But soon,

despite the cold sweat from the pain,

a twisted grin appeared on Hidan's face.

He laughed triumphantly.

"I told you! With Lord Jashin protecting me, you can't kill me!"

"Even cutting off his head didn't kill him…"

Karin's face turned pale.

A chill ran down her spine.

"Is he really immortal?"

Seeing Hidan's body riddled with vines, even beheaded yet still shouting and moving,

even Shizune felt her scalp tingle.

"It seems his body has undergone some kind of special modification. You could say he's no longer human."

Tsunade condensed chakra in her hand

and pressed it against Hidan's body.

After examining his physical structure,

her brows furrowed deeply.

Her expression grew extremely serious.

"Tsunae-nee…"

A vine shot out.

It grabbed Hidan's bloody head and lifted it.

Ren observed him carefully.

His eyes gleamed with excitement.

With a faint smile, he said,

"Experimental subjects like this are very hard to find."

Wasn't this the perfect test subject?

No matter how much he experimented,

he didn't have to worry about accidentally killing him.

He could reuse him again and again—

without feeling even the slightest psychological burden.
