Chapter 24 - Someone new

Silver, Adam and Leyla were still walking down the streets of Cross Bourg.

Leyla, being Leyla, was restlessly asking countless of questions to the both of them. Silver was grumbling as if her immortal life depended on it, even Adam was starting to regret every choice that led him to this place.

Just as Silver was starting to lose hope of ever getting freedom from this hell, she heard a familiar voice nearby…

''You hear that?'' She turned to Adam, her arms crossing.

Adam's hair was a mess because of the number of times he ran his hands through it (or just gripped it in annoyance). His eye twitched as he glanced at Leyla.

''If you're referring silence,'' he rolls his eyes, discreetly eyeing Leyla. ''No.''

Silver had to physically restrain herself from pouncing on him.

''Do I look like the kind of idiot who'd joke around in a time like this?

-Fair.''

Adam muffled Leyla with a firm hand and tried listening intently.

He heard a small female voice and a bunch of machines clashing together. Here we go…

''For fuck's sake,'' he scowled. ''That kid's still following you?''

He gazed back at Silver.

She just shrugs, leaning against a wall.

''You mean, following Capricorn. You know how Sara is. Rich, spoiled, and bold. She's trying to capture us to prove herself to her left-to-find-milk mother.''

Leyla holds Adam's wrist with both hands to pull it away from her mouth.

''She kind of reminds me of William.'' Leyla laughs softly.

Meanwhile, Silver's eyebrows shoot up in surprise, her eye twitching as she snarls.

''What.''

Leyla giggles fondly.

''My big bro has everything he could ask for and still thinks it's not enough. But even with his flaws, I love him.''

Silver pushes off the wall hand takes one step closer to her.

''You mean to tell me he's spoiled? And that all he's doing right now is throwing a tantrum?!''

Leyla thinks about it a little and opens her mouth to speak, but Adam cuts her off, turning to Silver.

''Well, yes, Silver~ we're losing our time trying to find him.'' He lays a gentle hand on her shoulder. ''I propose we go back to the circus.'' He purred, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction. ''We take back Coco and find a way to…'' he searches for the right words. He couldn't say that in front of Leyla… ''Get that thing you wanted.''

Her ear twitches at the implication.

Her eyes slowly meet his again as she slowly nods.

''But first,'' she pauses. ''Let's take care of Sara.

-Wait!'' Leyla speaks up. ''What about William.''

Silver's gaze darkens. Then she starts walking towards the sound of machines and Sara.

''I don't think he needs our help.'' She grunts through gritted teeth, each one of her steps burning with controlled anger.

Adam happily follows Silver while Leyla blinks in confusion.

As they got closer the little girl's whining got louder and angrier.

''I don't get it—!'' She stares down at her little machine.

It looked like a box with a lot of complicated wires intertwined. She talked to her little bunny bot next to her and threw the machine into it.

''It says that Capricorn was here a few hours ago!!! How can she disappear like that?! DO you think she's on another planet?!''

Silver hid behind a wall and stared at the little brunette throwing a tantrum.

She turned to Adam to discuss their plan, just to see that he wasn't there anymore.

She immediately facepalmed as hard as she could and growled.

''That idiot…'' she turned back to look at Sara, and now Adam standing near her with a smirk.

''Hey, there, Sara~ got any plans to share with me~?''

She glared up at him and snarled.

''What are you doing here?! I'm going to find Capricorn before you!''

Adam laughs softly.

''Now, now, dear cousin—

-Do. Not. Call me that.''

Adam laughs again.

''Whatever you say, kid. But you know, you need a bit of help from someone who has a bit more— uhh… experience.''

Sara's scowl slowly disappears…

Her hands drop with a sigh.

''You know what? You're right…''

She deliberately lets a small object fall.

Next thing Adam knew was that tiny object unfolding into a giant machine with lasers.

And that's how a dozen of robots started en adding the city.

Silver rolled her eyes tiredly and face palmed again. She knew things would escalate quickly with Sara. They always did. They needed to take care of this situation delicately. But now? It was too late.

Now, they needed to find William (even reluctantly), go to the circus to get Coco and Anne-Marie back (why were they even there in the first place?), go to the ship, but with the whole crew first, of course (where they were anyway?), then leave this planet once and for all.

She slowly glides her back down the wall.

She was tired.

She just wanted to rest…

And…

She couldn't do this anymore.

Her vision turned blurry, and then… nothing.

New eyes opened.

Those that were once red turned mismatched.

She slowly stood up, trying to gain her balance on those heels.

Her gaze turned to the sky, looking through lashes that were a mix of white and black.

She slowly brought a gloved hand to her hand and spoke.

''I'm back…'' she laughs unbelievably. ''I'm back!''

Her laugh dissolves as she notices Leyla.

Her eyes darken as she leans back, her posture to having an inch of imperfection.

''And let me guess, Capricorn promised to help you?''

At Leyla's slow nod, she frowns.

''Of course she did…'' she mutters under her breath, her eyes rolling before smirking. ''Well then, let me present myself to you~''

She tightens her bow with black and white gloves, her smile not quite reaching those white and black eyes, then takes the hat off her head as she bows.

''You can call me…'' she chuckles softly. ''Vanilla.''
