Chapter 5 - Derek’s Suspicion

The afternoon sun hung over Beacon Hills, casting long shadows across Beacon Hills High School.

Classes had ended.

Students slowly walked toward the parking lot, laughing and talking about homework, sports, and weekend plans.

To them, the town was peaceful.

Normal.

But hidden beneath that calm surface…

Supernatural forces were already moving.

Aiden Blackwell walked calmly through the school hallway.

His mind replayed the system mission he had received earlier.

Join the lacrosse team.

Build influence.

Investigate Derek Hale.

Aiden smirked slightly.

"Seems easy enough."

But just as he reached the school entrance—

A familiar voice called out.

"Hey! Aiden!"

He turned around.

Running toward him was Allison Argent.

She stopped in front of him, slightly out of breath.

"I've been looking for you."

Aiden raised an eyebrow.

"Looking for me?"

She nodded.

"Well… yeah."

Allison hesitated for a moment before speaking again.

"I'm still new in town, and I thought maybe… you could show me around Beacon Hills later."

Aiden smiled faintly.

"A personal tour guide?"

She laughed.

"Something like that."

Aiden studied her quietly.

Behind her friendly smile…

He could already sense something else.

Instinct.

Discipline.

The instincts of a trained hunter.

The Argent family bloodline was strong.

But right now, Allison didn't fully understand the supernatural world yet.

Which meant—

She was harmless.

For now.

"Alright," Aiden said.

Allison blinked.

"Really?"

"Why not."

Her face brightened instantly.

"Great!"

But while they were talking—

Someone else was watching.

Across the parking lot, leaning against a black car, stood Derek Hale.

His sharp eyes were focused entirely on Aiden.

Ever since the night before…

Something had been bothering him.

The forest.

The strange supernatural energy.

And that boy.

Derek could smell something unusual.

Not wolf.

Not human.

Something ancient.

Something powerful.

His instincts told him one thing clearly.

That kid is dangerous.

Aiden and Allison walked toward the parking lot together.

But before they reached the cars—

Someone stepped in front of them.

Blocking their path.

It was Derek.

Allison looked confused.

"Uh… do you know him?"

Aiden looked at Derek calmly.

"Yes."

Derek spoke in a low voice.

"We need to talk."

Allison glanced between them awkwardly.

"Okay… I'll wait by the car."

She walked away, leaving the two facing each other.

The atmosphere immediately became tense.

Derek studied Aiden carefully.

Then he spoke.

"You were in the woods last night."

It wasn't a question.

Aiden smiled slightly.

"So were you."

Derek's eyes narrowed.

"You're not human."

Aiden tilted his head slightly.

"And you're not subtle."

For a moment, neither of them moved.

Then suddenly—

Derek grabbed Aiden's collar and slammed him against the wall.

The impact cracked the concrete slightly.

Nearby students gasped.

"You're going to tell me what you are," Derek growled.

But Aiden didn't look scared.

Not even slightly.

Instead—

He looked amused.

"Is this how you greet people?"

Derek tightened his grip.

"You smell like fire… and death."

For a brief moment—

Aiden's eyes ignited with orange flames.

A wave of heat exploded outward.

Derek instantly released him and jumped back.

His eyes widened in shock.

That power…

It felt overwhelming.

"Now you see it," Aiden said calmly.

The heat disappeared as quickly as it had appeared.

Students nearby were too far away to notice anything unusual.

But Derek had felt it clearly.

He whispered slowly.

"You're a Hellhound."

Aiden straightened his jacket.

"Very good."

Derek stared at him.

Hellhounds were extremely rare.

Even among supernatural creatures.

And the one standing in front of him felt…

Strong.

Stronger than Derek himself.

"Why are you here?" Derek asked cautiously.

Aiden shrugged.

"School."

Derek clearly didn't find that funny.

But he also realized something important.

If Aiden wanted to fight—

Derek probably wouldn't win.

Not right now.

So Derek stepped back.

"Stay out of my way," he warned.

Aiden chuckled softly.

"That depends."

Derek didn't respond.

He turned and walked away.

But his mind was racing.

Beacon Hills had just become far more dangerous.

A few minutes later—

Aiden returned to the parking lot.

Allison was leaning against her car.

"Everything okay?" she asked.

Aiden nodded.

"Just an old acquaintance."

She looked suspicious but didn't ask more questions.

Instead she smiled.

"So… about that tour?"

Aiden gestured toward his car.

"Let's go."

They drove through the quiet streets of Beacon Hills.

Allison looked out the window curiously.

The town was beautiful.

Forests.

Hills.

Small quiet neighborhoods.

It looked peaceful.

But Aiden knew the truth.

This town was filled with supernatural secrets.

Werewolves.

Hunters.

Creatures hidden in the shadows.

And soon—

The Alpha responsible for the recent murders would make his next move.

The Alpha who bit Scott McCall.

Peter Hale.

Aiden's eyes narrowed slightly.

That Alpha might become his first real challenge.

Then suddenly—

DING!

A system notification appeared.

[New Mission]

Objective: Defeat or capture the Alpha Werewolf.

Target: Peter Hale

Reward:

• 2000 System Points

• Rare Bloodline Skill

Warning: Target is extremely dangerous.

Aiden smiled slowly.

"Now that sounds interesting."

Allison glanced over.

"What?"

Aiden shook his head.

"Nothing."

But deep inside—

The Hellhound within him was already excited.

Because soon…

The first true hunt in Beacon Hills would begin.
