Chapter 2 - chapter 02

Chapter 2

"Demon King Diabolos, come out and face your death!"

Accompanied by a violent roar, Hero Belial appeared menacingly before Arata with his companions.

The golden holy sword in his hand also emitted a dazzling light, as if ready to strike at any moment for the subjugation of the Demon King.

"It's you!"

The moment Eriel clearly saw the Demon King's face, her expression completely darkened.

Furthermore, she clenched the staff in her hand tightly, gritted her teeth, and stared at Arata, her clear blue eyes flickering with extremely complex emotions.

"Do you know him, Eriel?"

Belial was a bit puzzled; Eriel had joined the team midway, and he didn't know much about this girl's past.

He only knew that she was a powerful ice mage who had been actively fighting on the front lines to subjugate the Demon King.

"That face, I'd recognize it even if it turned to ash! You demon, so you are the Demon King!"

Eriel stared at Arata with a complex look, her already cold face instantly turning even paler.

"Um, you've got the wrong person, I'm not the Demon King. I'm here to help you all subjugate the Demon King."

Arata said, calmly waving his hand, and even showed a harmless smile, making Belial and the others' faces darken.

"Who are you kidding? You are the Demon King! The pair of horns on your head have already betrayed you! Do you take us for fools?"

Dali stepped forward with a cold expression, directly exposing his lie.

He thought he looked cool like this, and maybe he could earn some points with Eriel and Miru!

"Oh. You mean these?"

Arata wasn't annoyed, he reached up and grabbed the horns on his head, pulling gently.

The horns came off with a snap.

"These are actually decorations. If you want them, I'll give them to you?"

After speaking, he walked towards them with a smile, holding the two horns.

"Don't come any closer!"

Belial instantly became vigilant, raising his holy sword and pointing it at Arata.

"Do you think pulling off your horns can deceive us? Do you really take us for fools? You abominable Demon King!"

"In such a large Demon Kings Castle, you're the only one here. Even if you're not the Demon King, you're definitely related to him! Who exactly are you?"

"Alright."

Arata helplessly spread his hands, turned, sat on the throne, and then calmly put the Demon King's horns back on his head.

He adjusted the angle, his gaze ignoring everyone else, falling on the silver-haired girl with the cold expression.

"I'll be frank, I am the Demon King. So, what are you going to do, Eriel?"

In this world, the only one he had even a tiny bit of connection with was her.

Other than her, he truly had no attachment to this world at all.

"Of course, I'm going to subjugate you. You demon, I hate you! I will never forget what you did…"

Eriel's attitude was very resolute, yet no one could detect the complexity in her eyes.

"Is that so? Hearing you say that, I feel relieved."

Arata smiled faintly, casting his deep gaze towards the vigilant Belial and the others.

"Demon King, what trick are you planning now?"

Belial's golden pupils stared intently at him; he was ready to fight the opponent at any moment.

This was the final battle.

"Heh heh, what trick could I be planning? Shouldn't I be asking what trick you all are planning?"

Arata smiled calmly and continued, "What, aren't you going to subjugate me? Then come on."

"Hmph!"

Dali snorted, his body instantly disappearing.

He was a genius with dual professions as a Ranger and Shield Warrior; his guerrilla tactics had long reached their peak.

Such high-speed movement was simply a piece of cake.

"Oh, interesting~~"

Seeing the opponent disappear, Arata wasn't flustered at all; instead, he showed a mocking smile.

Furthermore, he made no movement, instead, he leisurely admired Eriel's ice-cold, exquisite beauty.

After so long, she had matured a bit.

Her originally aquamarine long hair had also turned silver due to cultivating ice magic.

Eriel looked even more beautiful like this.

"Swish~~"

Dali's figure instantly appeared behind Arata, raising his blade to stab.

"Clang!"

However, the legendary weapon, which usually cut through iron like mud and dragons like vegetables, actually missed.

The blade struck Arata neck, but it couldn't even break his skin.

"What?!"

Dali didn't have time to express his shock, his body rapidly retreated, appearing beside Belial.

Furthermore, he vigilantly took out the Legendary Shield.

"Belial, be careful, he's not simple!"

"I know."

Belial nodded solemnly; it was the Demon King, so it was reasonable that legendary weapons wouldn't work.

If he could defeat the Demon King with just legendary weapons forged by the Dwarf, why would the Goddess specially give him a Holy Sword?

"What's wrong? Didn't you say you wanted to defeat me? Go on."

Arata sat calmly on his throne, propping his chin with both hands, looking utterly relaxed.

How could he not be relaxed?

The opponent's full-power attack couldn't even break through his skin's defense, so why would he panic?

Moreover, if he hadn't cleared out the super monsters in the castle himself, the Hero might not have even reached the Demon Kings Castle.

"Demon King, don't be so smug. Do you see the sword in my hand? This is the Holy Sword, Getiral, bestowed upon me by the Goddess!"

As if to boost his own morale, Belial announced the sword's name, and his entire body emitted a strong golden light.

He looked like a 100-watt light bulb!

"Die! Demon King!"

Belial no longer hesitated, raising the trembling Holy Sword, and slashed towards Arata.

"Pfft—!"

As the blade approached thirty centimeters from Arata, Arata magic defense instantly broke.

The next second, the Holy Sword cut into Arata neck without any obstruction.

"No...!"

Eriel instinctively gasped, not even knowing why herself.

Seeing Arata being attacked by Belial without resistance, her heart was in turmoil.

However, Belial could no longer continue to cut, not even by one centimeter.

"How is that possible?"

Belial's eyes widened, somewhat disbelieving.

He saw two pure white fingers clamped in the middle of the blade.

Just two fingers, and he had blocked his full-power attack—what immense power was this?

This, was this the power of the Demon King?

Even without using magic, his physical strength was only stronger, not weaker, than that of a giant dragon.

"You think you can kill me? You're two thousand years too early!"

Arata scoffed, lifted his leg, and kicked Belial, sending both him and his sword flying.

"Ugh...!"

"Rumble~!"

Like a kite with a broken string, Belial was instantly sent flying by a huge force.

Finally, he smashed through a wall and fell heavily to the ground.

"Wow...!"

Belial, who had gotten up, suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood; just one blow had caused him internal injuries as if he had been beaten by several giant dragons.
