Chapter 331: The Crossing
He finished the seams by the middle of the second day.
Twenty-nine anchors across the two runs of hard stone. The work stayed simple — point and hold on good rock, the entity confirming each one. The first seam ran clean from end to end. The second matched it. Two full lines of anchors, forty meters apart, and the soft gap between them still empty.
He surfaced and looked at the gap.
Pool at fifty-three percent. He had saved it on purpose. The seam work was cheap and he had let it stay cheap, holding the pool back for the part of the zone that would cost.
Soren had moved one instrument to the edge of the soft fill.
"The two seams are conducting to each other already," he said. "Through the crossing. Low level. The entity is holding both lines as one structure across the gap." He looked at Kai. "Whatever you do in the middle, you'll be doing it inside a path that is already carrying energy."
"Good," Kai said. "Then there's something to hold."
