Chapter 1 - Prologue

In the primordial age of the world, when the sky had yet to be named and the land was still drawing its first breaths, there existed something before even life itself — the Echo of Dragons, later known by those who survived as Dragon Echo.

No one truly knows where dragons came from. Some legends claim they were born from the core of the world, where magma and souls intertwined. Others believe they were beings from a higher dimension, descending upon this realm to shape the very laws of existence. But regardless of their origin, one truth remains undeniable — when dragons appeared, the world began to change.

They were not merely colossal creatures soaring across the heavens, breathing fire that could incinerate oceans or summon storms that tore continents apart. Each dragon carried within it a unique "Echo" — a form of power that transcended physical existence. When a dragon roared, it was not just sound; it was command, law, a force imposed upon reality itself.

And then, when the age of dragons came to an end…

No one knows what truly happened. There are no records, no witnesses. Only remnants remain — lands eternally scorched black, oceans that never grow still, and fragments of space twisted as if time itself had shattered there.

But more important than anything else…

was what the dragons left behind.

Echo.

Dragon Echo did not vanish with them. It lingered, hidden within every grain of dust, every current of wind, every vein of energy deep beneath the earth. It was the residue of ancient power, fragments of draconic will still resonating across thousands of years.

At first, humanity could not touch it.

They were weak, trembling before disasters and darkness. But as time passed, a rare few began to "hear" something others could not — faint vibrations, like whispers from a forgotten world.

Those individuals came to be known as

Listeners.

They were the first to come into contact with Dragon Echo. At the beginning, it was only vague sensations — a chill running down the spine, recurring dreams, or sounds that did not belong to this world echoing within their minds. But gradually, they learned to understand it… and eventually, to wield it.

When a Listener harmonized with an Echo, they could perform feats far beyond human limits. Some controlled fire as if it were their own breath. Others bent space in an instant. There were even legends of individuals capable of "overwriting" reality — turning the impossible into possible through sheer will and resonance with Dragon Echo.

But power has never come without a price.

Dragon Echo is not a tool. It does not obey humans — it is something humans must bow before. Each time it is used, the Echo leaves a mark upon both mind and body. At first, these are only small fractures — insomnia, hallucinations, unexplained pain. But if one goes too far…

They cease to remain themselves.

There are those who have been consumed by the Echo, transformed into twisted beings — half human, half something beyond naming. They wander through lands heavily tainted by Echo, living warnings to those who dare to reach for forbidden power.

Thus, the world learned to fear it.

And yet… to crave it.

Over centuries, Dragon Echo became the center of everything. Nations were built around "Resonance Veins" — places where Echo gathered in its purest form. Organizations and academies emerged to study and control this power. Warriors who wielded Echo became living weapons, deciding the outcome of wars.

In the North, the Varkaan Empire is famed for its Echo Knights, warriors capable of manifesting draconic forms in battle. In the East, the Thal'Serin Alliance focuses on refining Echo into intricate constructs and barriers. And in the wild lands, where Echo runs unchecked, there exist anomalies and mysteries no one dares to confront.

Yet no matter how far humanity has advanced, one truth remains unchanged:

They have never truly understood Dragon Echo.

Why does each person resonate with a different form of Echo?

Why do some manifest as fire, ice, or lightning… while others relate to memory, time, or even the soul?

And most importantly — if Echo is the remnant of dragons…

Then have dragons truly disappeared?

There are those who believe Dragon Echo is not merely a remnant — but a "signal" of something far greater. That each time humans use Echo, they are unknowingly contributing to the awakening of something slumbering deep within the world.

An ancient will.

A being that once ruled all things.

A roar that never truly faded.

And somewhere, within the dreams of the most powerful Listeners, a vision repeats itself:

A sky cracking apart.

Colossal eyes opening within the darkness.

And a sound…

Not wind. Not thunder.

But… a call.

The call of dragons.

The present world stands upon a fragile boundary.

Between control and chaos.

Between power and destruction.

Between humanity… and what they are slowly becoming.

And at the center of it all, Dragon Echo continues to resonate — quietly, persistently, like an ancient heartbeat that has never ceased.

Waiting.

Waiting for someone who can not only hear it…

But answer.
