Chapter 86
On the other side of the room, Erik Selvig was lost in thought.
Before him, the Tesseract floated on its pedestal.
Dr. Selvig's soul had been corrupted by the Tesseract.
"It's talking to me, it's calling to me…" a voice screamed within Selvig's mind.
"It's not an energy source, it's a door, a door…"
This voice haunted him day and night.
"Dr., what are you spacing out for!" Jane exclaimed, annoyed.
"I need your help! The runic energy here is driving me crazy!"
"A door…" Selvig walked over as if possessed.
"Jane, you're wrong. We're all wrong."
"What?"
"We shouldn't try to take things from it." Selvig's voice became strange.
"We should give it something. An invitation."
"Are you insane?!" Jane Foster cried out in alarm.
"That will destroy everything! We don't know what's on the other side!"
"I know."
Selvig's hand pressed on the control panel of the observation room, inputting a string of commands.
"Buzz!!!"
The Tesseract erupted in a blinding blue light!
Vast spatial energy began to converge!
"No! Stop!" Jane screamed in terror… Asgard's dungeon.
It was still resplendent, but the cells exuded a desperate coldness.
Loki sat disheveled in a corner.
He had been imprisoned here ever since he sent the Destroyer to Earth to attack Thor and Leon.
He closed his eyes, as if in slumber.
But the moment the Tesseract's energy erupted, he opened his eyes!
He was stunned at first, then overcome with uncontrollable ecstasy.
"This energy! It's the Space Stone!"
Loki's breathing instantly quickened.
"Is it Thor, that idiot?! No! He doesn't have the brains for this!"
He stood up and paced back and forth in the cell, his expression constantly changing.
"Is it Father? Is he studying the Tesseract? Or are those mortals?!"
"Yes! It's those mortals! Thor brought them back!"
Loki couldn't stop smiling.
"They're actually activating it! They actually dare to activate it!!"
He thought it couldn't be related to Leon, because he never believed Leon's wisdom would be used on such trivial matters.
In his opinion, Leon's arrogance, like the Sun, hung in the sky.
Leon would only be interested in major events, like beating up his brother?
So, this must be Thor's foolishness, and Odin's muddle-headedness!

"Waiting for you to personally open the door to destruction."
...Asgard, Heavenly Palace Observation Room.
"Buzz!!"
The blinding blue light completely erupted!
The Tesseract let out a deafening roar!
"No!! Erik! Stop!"
Jane Foster let out a terrified shriek.
In front of her, the readings instantly maxed out, turning into a dazzling red!
"Alarm! Alarm!"
The defense system on the dome of the observation room wailed!
Thor's face changed drastically; he finally realized what this mortal scientist had done!
He raised mjolnir, and thunder boomed!
"Eric! Stop!"
He roared, smashing his hammer towards Selvig!
"Bang!!"
However, the hammer hadn't even come close.
A vast energy shield suddenly burst forth from the Tesseract's pedestal!
"Boom!!"
Thor was instantly sent flying by this energy!
He crashed heavily against a distant wall, and the star map shattered from the impact!
"Such powerful strength!"
Thor looked up in shock.
Selvig was still standing in front of the control panel.
He looked up as if possessed, gazing at the dome torn apart by energy.
A thick blue beam of light had already penetrated the Heavenly Palace's defenses, pierced through space-time, and shot into the dark depths of the Universe!
This was not exploration.
This was navigation!
"What have you done?!"
Thor climbed to his feet, his eyes full of rage.
"Jane! Get away from him!"
Jane Foster backed away in fear, looking at Selvig in terror.
"You…"
"The door…"
Selvig slowly turned around.
He wore a strange smile on his face.
His eyes were now covered by a faint blue glow.
"The door is open."
His voice became deep, as if another person was using his body.
"You opened the door."
...Heavenly Palace, Golden Hall.
"Boom!"
Asgard vibrated violently under the energy burst!
Upon the throne, Odin opened his single eye!
Frigga walked to his side, her expression solemn.
"It's the Space Stone."
Odin gripped Gungnir tightly, his expression serious.
Of course he knew!
He thought that placing the Tesseract under his nose, in this Heavenly Palace built by his divine power, was the safest place!
He was wrong!
He underestimated the infiltrating will!
"Heimdall!"
Odin's voice echoed through the Golden Hall.
"All-Father!" Heimdall's voice rang in Odin's mind.
"The Space Stone is opening a spatial aisle! I see the other end!"
Odin's single eye instantly narrowed: "What's on the other end?!"
Heimdall's voice was somewhat confused.
"It's nothingness, All-Father."
"I see endless star seas, distant galaxies, but there's nothing there."
"No fleets, no life, just an ordinary starscape."
"What?"
Odin was stunned.
Towering rage was stuck in his chest.
Not Thanos? Nor any known enemy?
Then, that will painstakingly infiltrated Asgard and corrupted a mortal's mind... was it just to open a door to nothing?
This humiliated Odin more than a direct invasion!
"Thor!"

The Tesseract let out a joyous hum!
A surge of energy even more violent than before suddenly erupted!
The beam of light shooting into deep space instantly expanded several times!
At the end of the light beam was the deep, cold Universe.
Countless distant stars twinkled.
But besides that... there was nothing.
Thor's thunderous strike was also instantly overwhelmed by this energy!
Thor grunted, his body swallowed by the blue light, and he flew backward again, crashing heavily to the ground.
"Thor!!"
Jane Foster screamed in despair.
Selvig slowly lowered his hands.
The fanatical smile on his face gradually froze, replaced by a blank expression.
The blue light in his eyes was slowly fading.

Loki couldn't stop himself; he held his forehead, shaking with laughter.
"Foolish! Utterly foolish!!"
"Well done! Thor! Well done! Father!"
"Your arrogance! Your foolishness!"
He pointed at the void, seemingly mocking Odin in the Golden Hall.
"You used the Tesseract, risking the destruction of the Nine Realms, just to open a door to nothingness?!"
This was the funniest joke he had ever heard!
"Hahahahaha... Thor of Asgard... All-Father..."
He laughed until he was out of breath.
"Your incompetence truly exceeds my imagination!"
He slowly stood up, tidying his collar.
"However, it's good."
"You have shown the Universe how Asgard's defenses can be easily torn open by mortals."
"This mess..."
He revealed a cruel smile.
"When Leon returns from Midgard."
"He will surely thank you."
