Chapter 1 - Unnamed

The Dream of a Rag-Picking Boy

morning light had not fully appeared yet. The city streets were almost empty. In the cold air and light fog, a small boy walked slowly along the roadside with an old sack on his shoulder.

The boy's name was Rony. He was about ten or eleven years old. He wore torn and worn-out clothes, and there were no shoes on his feet. But in his eyes, there was a strange determination and a bright light of dreams.

Every day, Rony went out early in the morning. He collected papers, plastic, bottles, and other discarded items from city dustbins and the sides of the market. He filled his sack with them and later sold them for a few coins. That small amount of money was what kept his family going.

Whenever people saw him, many of them laughed at his poverty.

"Look! The rag-picking boy is here!"

"What a dirty sack he carries."

"Ugh… he smells so bad!"

Rony had to hear these words almost every day. Nobody respected him. Many people even chased him away.

But Rony never got angry. He simply stayed quiet and continued doing his work.

Inside his mind, one sentence echoed again and again:

"One day I will become a great man. One day everyone will respect me."

Rony's father used to drive a rickshaw. But after an accident, he became seriously ill and could no longer work. At home there were Rony's mother and his little sister. So the responsibility of the family fell on Rony's small shoulders.

During the day he collected scrap papers. At night, he sat under a small dim lamp in their tiny house and studied.

The old books he found on the streets were his greatest treasure.

One day, while Rony was picking up papers beside a market, a shop owner noticed him. The man had been watching him for a while.

Finally, he called out,

"Hey boy, what's your name?"

Rony felt a little nervous and replied softly,

"My name is Rony."

"Do you study?"

Rony lowered his head slightly and said,

"Yes… a little. At night."

The shopkeeper was surprised. Even in such hardship, the boy still wanted to study.

The man smiled and said,

"If you want, you can work in my shop. Help me during the day, and I will give you the chance to study."

That day became the first big opportunity in Rony's life.

The shop was a small paper and book shop. While working there, Rony learned many things—how business works, how to treat people with respect, and how to keep accounts.

Years passed.

Rony grew older. Because of his honesty and hard work, the shop owner began to love him like his own son. Gradually, he started giving more and more responsibility of the shop to Rony.

But Rony's dream was still bigger.

He often thought,

"One day I will have my own big business."

After saving some money, Rony finally opened a small paper warehouse.

At the beginning, life was very difficult. Many people still did not take him seriously. But Rony never gave up.

He knew one thing very clearly—

Hard work always brings success one day.

Slowly, his business started to grow. The small warehouse eventually turned into a large company. Big shops across the city began buying paper from him.

Within a few years, Rony became one of the most successful businessmen in the city.

One day, he was invited as the chief guest at a big event. Many respected and successful people were present there.

When Rony stood on the stage, he remained silent for a moment.

Memories of the past flashed through his mind—the early mornings collecting paper, the laughter of people, the pain of poverty.

Then he began to speak.

"Once I used to collect scrap papers on the streets of this very city. Many people laughed at me. Nobody believed that I could ever become successful.

But I never lost one thing—my dream.

If a person keeps dreaming and works hard, nobody can stop him."

The audience burst into loud applause.

After the event, some people came to him and said,

"We saw you when you were a child. Back then we used to laugh at you. Today you are our pride."

Rony simply smiled and replied,

"No life is small. Only the dream needs to be big."

Today, that rag-picking boy is not only a successful businessman but also someone who has built schools for poor children—so that no child has to give up their dreams because of poverty.

Whenever he sees a poor child working on the roadside, he stops and gently places his hand on their head. Then he tells them just one thing:

"Keep dreaming… one day you will become great too."

Because Rony knows very well—

Once upon a time, he was exactly like them.

A small, neglected boy whom everyone ignored.

But today, the same boy is respected by everyone.

Because when someone has dreams and strong determination, nothing in the world can stop them.

And today, Rony is living proof of that truth.
