Chapter 23 - The contract

After some days, Nayeon started recovering her memories back. And soon enough, she had regained everything by December.

Now it was the second day of December and Seoul was already getting merry.

The weather had changed, and it was now getting cooler. Nayeon planned to go out that day, as she had regained all her memories. She wanted to go to the coffee shop that she and Dohyun once went to. Nayeon wore a pink coat and set out.

She arrived there and saw the same waitress from the last time working hard. "This is what you must do to get a living." Nayeon said to herself with a smile. "I have to think of myself now. I have lost my job and Haerin and Heeseung have been supporting us." Nayeon sat down and ordered a coffee with cream in it. "Minju is trying her best to look for a job, but i don't know what to do right now... it's a new month, and there are fresh bills to pay..." Nayeon started biting her nails in frustration.

"Nayeon, it's been a while."

Nayeon suddenly her that familiar voice and looked up to face Dohyun. She instantly was enraged after remembering all that had happened because of him.

"Hey, hey! Don't spill your coffee on me again!" He exclaimed.

"Sorry, I'm not feeling to well." She said angrily and was about going but Dohyun stopped her.

"Why do you always do this!" She yelled at him.

"Shhhh. Don't yell. People will stare at us." Dohyun pleaded. "Just hear me out, please."

Nayeon sighed.

"Make it quick." She said.

The two sat down and Dohyun began to speak.

"How are you, Nayeon?" He asked. "You look really healthy."

"Don't act like a you're a good person now, Dohyun. You're not my boss anymore so I can talk to you however I want to." Nayeon said. She was miffed.

"Listen. I know what I did was wrong but I have a reason behind everything. I'm so glad I found you, Nayeon."

"You better have a good explanation."

"Now, my father and mother made a deal with Leah's parents that if I marry her, I'll inherit her parents company. I didn't have a choice, so she became my fiancée."

"What of Savannah?"

"She is my childhood best friend who came all the way from Europe to work with me. She has SS, so her father wanted her to remain close to me. So I made her my new secretary. To tell you the truth, I was actually going to make you my secretary, Nayeon."

"Sure you were. But all that explanation is not good enough. Why were you so wholeheartedly kissing Leah when you told me you didn't like her?"

"My father had cameras placed in my office. He said he would monitor me from there and told me to get closer to Leah."

"Okay. Is that it?"

"After you injured Leah, her parents and my parents wanted you imprisoned, but i begged them to leave you alone."

"Imprisoned? Leah literally deserved that to tell the truth."

Dohyun smiled.

"I guess." He said.

Nayeon was still not convinced.

"So what do you want from me? Can I go now?" Nayeon said impatiently.

"No. Actually..."

"Get to the point, Dohyun! Don't waste my time here."

"I broke up with Leah."

Nayeon was speechless.

"B-broke up with Leah? Why? What of your deal with her parents?." Nayeon asked anxiously.

"My parents and hers were angry alright, but i had to be honest. I told them that I was in love with someone else." Dohyun said in a scanty tone.

"Savannah? Are you in love with her?"

"No. I lied to them. And they said they wanted to meet her so I'm in huge trouble now if I don't find a fiancée."

"So what does this have to do with me?"

"You lost your job, right? So I'm giving you another."

"Huh?"

"Its like... Love as an occupation."

"Do you mean i be your fake fiancée?"

"Yes."

There was silence for a bit between them. Nayeon was taken aback.

"Hold on. How much will you pay?" She asked in a serious tone.

"I will pay you nine hundred thousand won per week." Dohyun said immensely.

Nayeon was shocked.

"Nine hundred thousand won? Per week!" She exclaimed in a low voice.

"Yes. Will you take on the job?" Dohyun asked.

Nayown thought to herself for a moment. "If I take the job, I'll work under him again and loose my dignity. But if i don't, I'm going to be in huge debt."

Nayeon made her final decision.

"I'll do it.' She said reluctantly.

"Great! Here is my number because I'm sure you've deleted it after what happened." Dohyun gave her a card with his number on it.

"You got certainly that right!" Nayeon said. "When do I start work?"

"As soon as tomorrow. I must give you a makeover."

"Are you saying I'm ugly?"

"N-no! So that they won't recognise you."

"Hhmmm. Okay."

"And here is the marriage contract."

Nayeon froze for a moment.

"M-marriage contract!?" She exclaimed.

"If your going to be my fiancée, you'll have to marry me at some point. My parents will want that too. But in the contract, we will only be married for a year before we can legally divorce. Then your work with me is over." Dohyun said.

"A year?" Nayeon said in horror.

"Are you still doing it?"

Nayeon was distressed. She then thought hardly. "What choice do I have!? I'm in debt!"

She sighed.

"I agree." Nayeon said.

"Good." Dohyun replied.

Nayeon signed the contract in a reluctant way and then it was settled.

"I will pick you up tomorrow as early as eight. We'll then go to my parents house." Dohyun spoke. He then left the coffee shop, leaving Nayeon in a terrible situation.

"Ugh, why did I sign that darn contract!" She complained to herself.

Nayeon got home and told minju who was more shocked than she was.

"Why did you agree to such a thing!" Minju exclaimed.

"I had no other choice." Nayeon said to her. "I'm doing this for us and Ariyana, Minju."

"I understand. Thank you, Nayeon."

Nayeon also called Haerin and Heeseung later and told them aswell. They were surprised but supported her decision on agreeing to the contract.
