Chapter 153 - Talking on the Balcony

SF Chapter 153: Talking on the Balcony

A few days after the interview, Monica, Phoebe, Rachel, Dani, and Prudence were all in their pajamas on Monica's balcony.

"Now, I hereby inaugurate the second girls' night," Dani announced, raising the drink in his hand.

"We do that every once in a while," Monica replied, rolling her eyes.

"But not with me here," He remarked. "Which makes all the difference. The awesome me!"

He heard someone cough.

"Yes, and the gorgeous Prudence too," he added, kissing her on the cheek. She was sitting on his lap.

"Better!"

Rachel grabbed another piece of scampi. "Well, we just need to endure him until we're satisfied with the shrimp and lobster," she mocked, "then we can kick him out."

Monica's phone rang again.

"Wow, another order?" Phoebe asked.

"Yes, it looks like it," Monica agreed.

Since Daniel announced her number on TV, she had been getting a lot more requests for events.

"I need to hire help! I can't handle all these orders," Monica said, conflicted.

She had embraced every single one on the first day, but then she got overwhelmed afterward.

"You're welcome!" Dani smirked, receiving a pat on the head from his cousin.

"Besides Monica, my free ads helped Phil and Mom too. They said they've been getting calls and are selling more houses than usual," Daniel commented.

"Even our closets are selling more!"

Monica received another message. She ignored it, but soon her phone started ringing.

"Hey, Paris," she answered. "Sorry, I've been getting too many messages - I forgot to reply to you."

"Yes, you can stay here," she said. "Yes… and your friend too."

"And-" Monica frowned. "Hello?"

"Who was that?" Dani asked curiously. "Did she just hang up on you?" He chuckled.

"Yes, she did!" his cousin confirmed, making a face. "It was my cousin."

Then Monica turned to her friend. "Rach, Paris and her friend will be staying here next month for a few days."

"I need to warn you - she's a piece of work!"

"Oh," Rachel raised an eyebrow, "well, I'm getting used to it. And she can't be worse than this one," she joked, pointing at Dani.

"Isn't that the girl who went to Yale?" Phoebe asked.

Monica nodded.

"Oh, I remember she came here once, when I lived here," Phoebe added. "She's nuts!"

Even Prudence was looking at her like she wasn't exactly the best person to talk about other people's sanity.

"Ha, Yale!" Dani chuckled. "Great place!"

"Have you been there?" Prudence asked.

"Yeah, last year. During Orientation Week."

"Wait, wait," Monica exclaimed, "Did you actually start at Yale?"

"Nah, why would I do that?" Dani denied. "I had no interest in going to college, nor do I have now. Besides, I already went for the best part of it - the parties."

Prudence looked thoughtful and asked, "Did you go there to hook up with the freshmen?"

"As expected of you, Prudence. That's right!" he confirmed.

"I didn't lie to anyone. But it's incredible - if you memorize the entire campus map and act confident, most people will think you're a senior."

Monica scolded him, "Daniel!"

"What? Freshmen are like lost puppies. I helped them by showing them where everything was. I even helped one of them set up her new room."

"Was she beautiful?" Prudence ran a hand through his hair.

"Not even close to you," Dani replied.

"Okay, now we want the whole story," Rachel said, knowing he was hiding something. "Or you can't say it in front of your girlfriend?" she provoked.

"I can say it. The girl was incredibly cute," Dani began.

"We kissed. But she was like the innocent, goody-two-shoes type. I blurted everything out: I wasn't going to study at Yale, I was there to have fun, and I was a writer."

"She got angry at first. But then we talked. And talked about a lot of things. Books. Trips. The world. We ended up making love."

"Ha, there it is!" Rachel pointed out.

"Making love?" Monica looked at him, since he normally much cruder.

"Well, she's the type of girl you don't 'have sex' with - you 'make love'," he said, using air quotes.

"I understand," Prudence nodded. "I've been with a girl like that too."

Rachel nearly choked on her drink. "A girl?"

"Oh, yeah," Dani said, looking at her. "Prudence likes girls too," he smirked.

"And I'd be totally okay if you wanted to join us, Rachel," Prudence winked at the blonde.

Rachel deadpanned, "Monica, am I getting too drunk, or are there two of them?"

[Dani commentary]

"Her name was Rory Gilmore," Daniel revealed the girl's name.

"She got really pissed when she found out I wasn't a Yale student. But I pointed out that not once did I say I studied there."

He went on with his story. "Then I got caught by a professor..."

"He was the one who invited me to give a speech because of my books. It was before I released Mean Girls, but 21 million books sold were still very impressive for my age."

"Rory found out, and we ended up talking again. We talked a lot!"

"At one point, things got heated... I even tried to talk some sense into her: 'It's your first time. Are you sure you want it to be with a playboy? With a boy you might never see again?'"

"But she didn't back down... and we did it. I took her first time."

"Oh," he had almost forgotten. "I remember she had a really annoying roommate."

"What was her name again?" he muttered.

The group was already very drunk.

Dani said, tipsy, "Aren't we becoming even more of a family, Mon?" He looked at his cousin. "Since Charlie is getting married to Lisa."

"We'll somehow be related to the Gellers part too."

"Charlie and Lisa are engaged?!" Monica made an astonished face.

"You didn't know? God, he proposed on Thanksgiving."

"Ha, we should do it in the coatroom at my brother's wedding," Dani said suggestively to Prudence. "Family tradition!"

"Funny one!" Phoebe chuckled.

"Pheebs did it with Charlie at my Superbad premiere's coatroom," he explained to Prudence.

Monica snapped her head toward the blonde. "What?! You slept with Charlie?"

"Jesus, Mon, you didn't even know that?" Dani made a reproachful face. "You're terrible at gossip! Shame on you!" he scolded.

Rachel laughed. "He has a point, Monica. You're awful at gossip."

"Oh, yeah?" Monica said, tipsy. "What about that rumor about you from high school?" she started laughing before she could finish.

"What rumor?" Rachel questioned.

"...about you having both male and female reproductive parts," Monica revealed.

The quartet burst out laughing.

"What? What?!" Rachel yelled.

"Everyone at our school heard it," Monica said, trying - and failing - not to laugh again.

"Oh my God, this is all making so much sense now," Rachel said, starting to remember. "This is why Adam Carter wouldn't go out with me."

"This is why Billy Tratt would just stay in this region," she added, gesturing toward her chest.

"Monica, how come you never told me this?"

"I thought it might be true. And I was afraid you were going to cry and then show it to me."

Rachel made a face, then said, annoyed, "Dani, stop staring. There's nothing there. It's not true!"

"I'm afraid I'm going to need proof!" he joked.

"Yeah!" Prudence agreed.

"Oh, you two-"

The group went on to talk about even more embarrassing things throughout the night.

The next morning, Claire was with Phil and Joey, sitting at the table in Monica's apartment.

She yelled, "Daniel!"

"What, sis?" He put a hand on his head. "Can't you not act like a banshee? I'm hungover."

"What were you doing in Monica's room?!" Claire shouted, pissed and a little worried.

"She let me sleep there," he defended himself.

She was about to scream again, but Monica appeared as well, but coming out from the balcony.

"Oh, Claire, you're already here," Monica said, making a sheepish face. She looked like she also had a massive hangover.

Claire let out a breath of relief.

Little did she notice that her bar for her brother was so low, that she didn't even question the inappropriate activity he had gotten up to in Monica's room.

It was already good enough it wasn't with their cousin.

"Morning, Claire," Prudence greeted casually, coming out of the room where Dani was.

Dani asked for more coffee. Jay and Gloria arrived later, along with Ross. They said their goodbyes since they were all heading back to L.A.
