Chapter 69 - A Dangerous Kind of Loyalty

The cameras outside Damian's apartment were still there the next morning.

They had not moved.

Damian noticed them the moment he pulled the curtain aside. The street below looked exactly the same as it had the night before. Cars parked along the curb. A café table set beneath a striped umbrella. People walking past as if nothing unusual was happening.

But the men with cameras were impossible to miss.

One photographer leaned against a car, pretending to scroll through his phone while keeping the building entrance in his peripheral vision. Another sat at the outdoor café across the street with a large camera bag resting beside his chair. He stirred his coffee slowly, but his gaze never left the front door.

And the third man stood near the corner.

He wore a dark jacket and spoke quietly into an earpiece.

Watching.

Waiting.

Damian let the curtain fall closed.

"They stayed overnight," he said.

Lena groaned from the couch without opening her eyes.

"You're kidding."

"I wish."
