Chapter 103 - Ch80- The Confession...

Chapter 80 — The Confession

One week later.

The Maldivian hospital no longer felt like a battlefield.

The crisis had passed.

Care had recovered from the hypothermia.

Cole's ribs were healing well.

The stitches remained, the bruises remained, but the danger was gone.

For the first time since the jungle accident—

They were being discharged.

---

The Discharge

The hospital corridor looked far too crowded for a normal discharge.

Because seventeen people had shown up to escort two patients.

Ash leaned against the wall, arms crossed.

Percy was arguing with a nurse about discharge paperwork.

Honey was filming everything on her phone like it was a documentary.

"Historic moment," she whispered dramatically.

"Two idiots who almost froze to death are finally released."

"Stop narrating," Rakhi groaned.

Near the window, Alex and Lyra stood together quietly.

Lyra looked far healthier now compared to weeks ago when she had been the one lying in surgery.

Alex squeezed her hand.

"Feels like this group survives disasters every month."

Lyra smirked.

"Only because the doctors are part of the group."

Across the hall, Nova, Ben, and Cin were finishing final medical instructions.

Nova pointed at Cole.

"No alcohol for two weeks."

Cole raised an eyebrow.

"That sounds unreasonable."

Ben added calmly,

"You also have six stitches inside your rib muscle."

Cin crossed his arms.

"Try drinking and we will personally sedate you again."

Cole sighed.

"Doctors are tyrants."

Meanwhile Freya, Endrix, Ella, and Aries were discussing flight schedules.

Daisy stood beside Joong, who was secretly checking emails again.

"Joong," Daisy warned.

"Stop working."

"I'm not working."

"You're literally answering shareholders."

"I'm multitasking."

"Put the phone down."

At the center of all this chaos stood Keifer and JJ.

They watched everything with quiet amusement.

And then—

The hospital room door opened.

---

Care and Cole Appear

Care stepped out first.

Healthy again.

Still slightly pale.

But strong.

Right behind her came Cole.

Walking slower because of the ribs.

The entire hallway instantly reacted.

Ash rushed forward first.

"You two nearly gave us collective heart attacks."

Percy folded his arms dramatically.

"You owe everyone vacation compensation."

Honey zoomed the camera.

"Smile for the near-death survivors."

Cole squinted at the phone.

"I will sue you."

JJ clapped once.

"Alright children. Stop attacking the patients."

Keifer checked his watch.

"Our car is waiting."

Care raised an eyebrow.

"Our?"

Keifer nodded calmly.

"You two aren't flying back alone."

JJ smirked.

"We're escorting you home."

Cole sighed.

"That sounds like supervision."

"Exactly," JJ replied cheerfully.

---

The Ride Back

One hour later.

The large black car left the hospital gates.

Inside sat four people.

Driver in front.

Back seat occupied by Care, Cole, Keifer, and JJ.

Outside, the Maldives coastline passed quietly.

For the first few minutes—

No one spoke.

JJ was scrolling her phone.

Keifer watched the road ahead.

Care sat beside Cole silently.

And Cole kept glancing toward her.

Finally JJ noticed.

She slowly looked up.

Then looked at Keifer.

Keifer looked back.

Both silently exchanged the same thought.

Oh this is happening.

JJ suddenly stretched dramatically.

"Well," she said loudly.

"I am extremely tired."

Keifer nodded immediately.

"Yes."

JJ leaned forward to the driver.

"Can you stop at that café ahead?"

The driver nodded.

The car slowed.

JJ opened the door.

"Keifer, come help me carry coffee."

Keifer raised an eyebrow but played along.

"Of course."

Both stepped out.

The door closed.

And suddenly—

The back seat contained only two people.

Care and Cole.

---

The Silence

The car engine remained running.

Outside, the café lights glowed softly.

Inside—

The silence became heavy.

Cole exhaled slowly.

"…They did that on purpose."

Care nodded slightly.

"Yes."

Another silence followed.

Cole leaned his head back against the seat.

"You almost died."

Care looked out the window.

"You almost died too."

Cole turned toward her.

"…I meant what I said in the truck."

Care blinked.

"What?"

Cole spoke quietly.

"You don't get to die."

Care looked back at him.

"And you do?"

Cole smiled faintly.

"That wasn't the plan."

Another silence.

Then Care spoke softly.

"When I woke up in the hospital…"

Cole listened.

"I thought you were dead."

Her voice trembled slightly.

"That dream felt real."

Cole watched her carefully.

Care finally looked at him.

And said the truth she had been holding.

"I realized something."

Cole waited.

Care whispered,

"I can't lose you."

The words hung in the air.

Cole stared at her.

Then suddenly laughed quietly.

Care frowned.

"What?"

Cole shook his head.

"I almost froze to death protecting you."

"And the thing you realized is now?"

Care hit his arm lightly.

"That's not funny."

Cole smiled.

Then his voice softened.

"I realized it earlier."

Care looked at him.

"When?" she asked.

Cole answered calmly.

"In the truck."

He met her eyes.

"When you stopped breathing."

Care froze.

Cole continued quietly.

"I thought you were gone."

His voice dropped.

"And I lost my mind."

Care's eyes softened.

Cole took a slow breath.

Then said it.

"I love you."

The words landed gently.

But heavily.

Care stared at him.

For a long moment she didn't speak.

Cole suddenly became nervous.

"…That was a terrible time to say that wasn't it."

Care suddenly laughed through tears.

"No."

She shook her head.

Then whispered back.

"I love you too."

Cole blinked.

"…Oh."

Care raised an eyebrow.

"Oh?"

Cole shrugged.

"I expected more resistance."

Care laughed again.

Then leaned forward slightly.

And hugged him carefully.

"Don't die again," she whispered.

Cole hugged her back gently.

"I'll try."

Outside the café—

JJ and Keifer were watching through the glass window.

JJ grinned.

"Called it."

Keifer nodded.

"Took them long enough."

The Mansion Announcement

That evening.

The group had already returned to the massive Maldives resort mansion.

Everyone was gathered in the main hall.

Ash was playing pool with Percy.

Honey and Freya were discussing beach photos.

Alex and Lyra were sitting together on the couch.

Nova, Ben, and Cin were discussing Cole's recovery schedule again.

Endrix was hacking something on his laptop.

Aries and Ella were arguing about dinner.

Rakhi and Daisy were in the kitchen.

Joong was still pretending not to work.

Then—

The mansion door opened.

JJ walked in.

Behind her came Keifer.

And behind them—

Care and Cole.

JJ clapped loudly.

"ATTENTION EVERYONE."

Everyone turned.

Percy raised an eyebrow.

"What happened?"

JJ placed her hands on her hips dramatically.

"I have an announcement."

Honey lifted her camera again instantly.

Ash narrowed her eyes suspiciously.

JJ grinned.

"Our last two idiots have finally confessed."

The room exploded.

"What?!"

Percy nearly dropped the pool stick.

Ash screamed.

"I KNEW IT!"

Lyra laughed.

Alex shook his head.

Endrix high-fived Aries.

Daisy shouted from the kitchen.

"FINALLY!"

Honey ran toward them.

"Wait wait wait I need reactions!"

Nova crossed her arms.

"I predicted this after the jungle."

Ben nodded.

"Statistically inevitable."

Cin sighed.

"Took them long enough."

Care buried her face in her hands.

Cole looked like he wanted to disappear.

Percy shouted dramatically,

"WE DEMAND DETAILS."

JJ pointed proudly.

"I was the witness."

Keifer added calmly,

"I arranged the car."

The teasing became absolute chaos.

Ash hugged Care tightly.

"You're finally my sister now."

Cole groaned.

"That sounds threatening."

Care laughed for the first time without fear.

The mansion filled with noise again.

Laughter.

Teasing.

Family.

And somewhere in the middle of it all—

Care and Cole stood together.

Finally.

Not almost.

Not maybe.

But real.
