She was getting more and more unpredictable. That was the worst sign possible. If she stepped outside the boundaries of my predictions, I wouldn't be able to tell which way she'd turn, or how she'd hurt me next.
"Rio..." she spoke up after sitting there in silence for a few minutes. "I know I have said it before... but..."
She paused, dropping her head down. "But... I want to say it again. I know your answer. I know what you will think, and I know what you will do. And yet, I want to say it."
She moved her hands and covered her face with them, her elbows propped on her legs.
What was it that she wanted to say now? I hoped it wasn't what I was expecting, but in this world, tropes had a funny way of becoming reality.
"I... I..." Her voice was muffled by her palms. "I think I have fallen in love with you."
Ah. There it was. Just like that, she'd said it. And just like that, she thought she loved me.
'Isn't it a bit too fast for her to fall for me?' I wondered.
