Rutz roared, "I wouldn't accept a surrender anyway! You die here today, Amano Zero!" He swept his hand across his field. "Combine! Show your strongest form and grind all elemental existence to dust!"
This was a combination, not a fusion. The three gods stacked themselves—Water, Wind, then Thunder. Rutz slammed his last card down.
"Appear! The one who inherits the power of the three gods—Gate Guardian!"

The Sharia Group went wild. "The strongest ace! Attack higher than the legendary Blue-Eyes! That kid is dead!"
Even though any one of the gods could have finished Zero, Rutz chose to combine them. In the Overkill meta of Eden, this maximized the payout. Or perhaps Rutz just wanted to ensure Zero was absolutely pulverized.
"Even if you dodged the lightning once, there is no escape from the combined strike of the three gods! Attack, Gate Guardian!"
Rutz: "Lady Luck won't look at you twice!" Zero: "I don't need luck this time."
Zero hit the trigger on his Duel Disk. "Trap Card—Pinpoint Guard, activate!"
From Zero's Graveyard, a surge of fire erupted. The sexy HERO rose from the flames, bracing her arm to single-handedly block the massive combined strike of the three demon gods. She didn't budge an inch.
"Through the effect of Pinpoint Guard, when you attack, I can revive a Level 4 or lower monster from my Graveyard in Defense Position!" There were many revival traps, but one that specifically targeted low-level monsters was perfect for Zero's "junk." He revived Elemental HERO Burstinatrix.
"And a monster revived by this effect cannot be destroyed by battle or effects this turn!"
No matter if Rutz attacked with the gods individually or the combined Guardian, he couldn't break through Zero's "Junk Wall."
"Which means," Zero looked up toward the VIP box, "someone just lost a bet~"
Karl Wynn's bet that Zero would fall in six turns had officially failed. Finis felt a surge of delight—Karl losing money was better than any gift.
"Tch!" Karl spat. The money was pocket change, but the slap to his face stung.
Chihane Kaiba stood up and smirked. "This is more interesting than I thought."
"Interesting?" Karl snarled. "Nothing is more disgusting than a weakling clinging to life."
"I end my turn!" Rutz growled, his hand empty.
"My turn, DRAW!" Zero's draw was framed by the fading flames of his HERO. He was a picture of absolute confidence.
The puzzle pieces were in place. When Morphing Jar had refreshed his hand, it had given him exactly what he needed to overturn absolute power.
"I summon Elemental HERO Avian in Attack Position!"
Elemental HERO Avian [Level 3 / Wind] [Warrior / Normal] [ATK: 1000 / DEF: 1000]
Avian landed next to Burstinatrix.
"Another HERO?" Finis blinked. Another weak monster. Could they really...?
"We're taking the win!" Zero pulled a card. "With the HERO's way of fighting!"
"Spell Card—Double Spell, activate! By discarding one Spell card, I can select and use one Spell card from my opponent's Graveyard!"
Zero reached out and caught the card that ejected from Rutz's disk. "I choose the Spell card from your Graveyard—Polymerization!"
