Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: The Family Secret

The evening after Anaya confessed her love felt magical.

Aarav walked home with a smile he couldn't hide. Every moment from the park kept replaying in his mind.

"I love you too."

Those words meant everything to him.

The next day at college, Aarav arrived early as usual. He waited near the big banyan tree where he and Anaya often met.

After a few minutes, he saw her walking toward him.

But something felt different.

Anaya wasn't smiling like she normally did.

She looked worried.

"Aarav," she said softly.

"Hey… what happened?" he asked immediately.

Anaya took a deep breath.

"I need to tell you something important."

Aarav suddenly felt nervous.

"What is it?"

She looked around to make sure no one was nearby.

"Let's sit somewhere quiet."

They walked to the small park again and sat on the wooden bench.

Anaya stayed silent for a moment, trying to find the right words.

Then she finally spoke.

"Aarav… the reason my family is moving to another city isn't just because of my dad's job."

Aarav frowned slightly.

"Then why?"

Anaya looked down at her hands.

"My family is in serious trouble."

Aarav felt concerned.

"What kind of trouble?"

She hesitated before answering.

"My father has a business."

"Yes."

"A few months ago… he lost a huge amount of money."

Aarav listened carefully.

"Because of that, he had to borrow money from some very powerful people."

Aarav's expression became serious.

"What kind of people?"

Anaya's voice became quieter.

"Dangerous people."

A cold feeling ran through Aarav's chest.

"They are now pressuring my father to repay the money," she continued.

"And since he can't pay it right now… they've been threatening our family."

Aarav couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"That's why we have to leave the city," Anaya said.

"My father thinks moving away will keep us safe."

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

The peaceful park suddenly felt heavy with worry.

Aarav looked at Anaya.

"You went through all this alone?"

She nodded slowly.

"I didn't want to tell anyone."

"Not even me?"

She looked at him gently.

"I didn't want to drag you into my problems."

Aarav shook his head.

"Anaya… if we love each other, your problems are my problems too."

Her eyes widened slightly.

"You shouldn't get involved in this," she said quickly.

"But I already am," Aarav replied.

He held her hand firmly.

"I'm not going anywhere."

Anaya felt tears forming in her eyes.

"Aarav… this situation is dangerous."

He looked at her seriously.

"I don't care."

Then he smiled softly.

"I promised I would catch you if you fall, remember?"

Anaya laughed through her tears.

In that moment, she realized something important.

Aarav wasn't just someone she loved.

He was someone she could truly trust.

But far away, the people who were threatening her family were already looking for them.

And soon…

Aarav would find himself in a situation much more dangerous than he ever expected.
