Chapter 3 - It's Been A While.

Two days have passed since then, those days were normal, they were given a period where they could get ready and socialize with everyone. Sebastian slowly gets to know the people from his row, though he has a hard time making friends with them.

Sebastian was on his way to school, it's around 4:30 in the morning, quite early if anyone would say.

"The school is truly dark within this time... If its not for three cellphones ringing at once, I would have slept till 5:30..." He gave a sigh as he walks down the campus ground.

Soon, he'll reach the building entrance, but, due to the early time, the gates of the building is still locked. The guard noticed him from the guard house.

"You're quite early there!" The guard shouted to him.

Sebastian looked at the guard, then looked around before pointing to himself as if asking if he is referring to himself.

"Yes, you. Obviously... You're the only one there." The guard added. True to his words, there was no students around except for himself.

"A- ah... I was woken up early." Sebastian said in response to the guard. The guard gave a Hum in agreement.

"Section?" The guard asked.

"HUMSS B, sir."

"Grade...?"

"11." Sebastian's blunt response. They were exchanging responses to one and another, Sebastian is not good for short conversation.

"Ah... Well, I hope that section would retain its honor- though they are funny and amusing back then." The guard chuckled after remembering something from the past.

"Why? What happened with this section previously?" Sebastian asked, finding the guard's comment interesting.

"Well, apparently, that section was the most loudest among the HUMSS sections back then. Though some of them were competitive in academics, they were deemed as a classroom of mischiefs." The guard paused for a moment before continuing. "They were titled and named as the Circus of Clowns back then."

"T- that's quite a name, isn't too mocking?" Sebastian's question to the guard. The guard shrugged in response with a sigh of disbelief.

"Truthfully, yes. However, they took it as if it is a compliment, they are full of positivity and hence was said to be the room where the spotlight shines." The guard said as he tells some of the tale of their section. "They bring joy and laughter towards other sections and people, if you would meet some former 11-HUMSS B students, they might tale you about your section." The guard said as he stood up.

"I'll be doing my daily patrol, just be patient till the time comes for us to open the gates." The guard said before leaving him in front of the building's gates.

Sebastian stood there, thinking about what tales does his section holds. Curiosity lingers within his mind as he stares at the air, spacing out.

His mind was filled with different kind of questions, until- someone flicked his shoulders.

He turned around to see who it was, he was about to say something but was surprised to see a familiar face from the past- his first friend after moving to this city.

"Sup, Seb. It's been a while." It was Daniel Torres, his partner in crime back then.

"It's been a while it is, you bastard." Sebastian says as he gave Daniel a light punch to the shoulder. In comparison, Sebastian was more taller than Daniel, but in physique, Daniel holds the torch as he looked more buffed.

"Going to the gym lately?" Sebastian asked.

"Yeah, since I have nothing to do." Daniel gave a low giggle, Sebastian looked at him for a moment, then looked towards the building.

"What strand did you pick?" Sebastian asked Daniel.

Daniel sighed for a moment before answering. "HUMSS, It was suppose to be STEM, but my GPA didn't reach the standards of that Strand."

"Erika said that you succumbed to Sloth." Sebastian said blunt tone, there was no break to his mouth.

"Sloth is quite an overstatement... I just felt lazy last year." Daniel responded, trying to find an excuse.

"Yeah, whatever, it is part of your character, I suppose." He gave a sigh of disbelief to Daniel.

"Anyways, how about you? What Strand did you pick?" Daniel asked calmly.

"I'm also HUMSS."

"HUMSS A?"

"No, HUMSS B."

They both exchange some responses, Daniel didn't expect Sebastian to be put into HUMSS D, he expected him to be in HUMSS A at the very least.

"How about you? What section are you in?" Sebastian asked back.

"HUMSS A."

"How?!" Sebastian was in pure shock to hear that he is in the second highest section. In comparison, Sebastian has a 3.7 GPA, while Daniel has 3.3 GPA. It is also given that Sebastian has the opportunity for the STEM Strand since the standard requirement of being in that strand is having a GPA of 3.7, or a general average of atleast 90%, which in the case of Daniel, he only has a general average of 87%.

"Wasn't the sections ranked from highest to lowest and the students were put to their respective sections which depended on their GPA? It's ranking! how are you ranked above me?!" Sebastian is now in pure disbelief, to be frank, some would be since he attained of much higher grade than him.

"Oh, you're not notified?" Daniel said to him, Sebastian shrugged his head. "No, what is it?"

"The sections may be ranked, but it is not necessary." Daniel said to him as they stood there while exchanging conversations.

"Why is it? They won't put any Alphabetically ordered sections without any ranking." Sebastian explained, but he seems to be lost as for the moment.

"Nope, It's just a placard, students were said to be randomly picked on every sections." Daniel said as he crossed his arms while explaining. "Meaning, GPA ranking was not applied to Grade 11, they said it is a reset to determine who would be on the highest section for grade 12, considering that they said Senior high would be different than Junior High."

"So, meaning, it's by luck if you would be with your classmates?" Sebastian responded with a question.

"Yes, apparently... I'm quite lucky to still have some of my classmates last year." Daniel replied.

"So... technically, I'm just unlucky to have no singular classmates..." Sebastian sighed in disbelief and disappointment, like what are the odds that he would be separated from everyone from his class last year.

Sebastian thinks for a moment before the Gates were opened by the guard. The sound of chains being pulled and clashing from the metal gates echoed throughout the halls.

"Alright, you can enter." The guard said as he gestured for them to get in the building, he walked towards the guard house afterwards.

"Let's go?" Daniel said as he invited Sebastian to enter the building.

"I suppose we haven't got this kind of conversation since then." Sebastian said as they walked side to side, taking the steps one by one with sync.

"Yeah, ever sine the pandemic, we have no communications with each other." Daniel responded to Sebastian.

They were not able to see each other by the years, when he reached his 6th and 7th grade, two years was spent through online session due to the dangers of the pandemic during that time, after those times, they were not able to see each other, maybe due to Sebastian's bad luck throughout those years, he was not able to see Daniel.

Soon, they reached the fourth floor. "I guess I'll meet you some time, Seb." Daniel said as he offered a fist bump to Sebastian.

"Sure does, we're practically neighbors now." Sebastian gave Daniel a hard Fist bump.

It was an unexpected reunion for the both of them, and soon many things will happen but despite every argument, it's their friendship against everything.
