Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 – Kane’s Personal Strike

The city had barely recovered from Adam's counter-offensive when Victor Kane decided to make his next move personal.

Adam and Lina were in their temporary safehouse, reviewing the intel Selene had collected. Maps, surveillance photos, and timelines filled the table.

Suddenly, the phone buzzed.

Adam picked it up cautiously. The screen displayed a video feed—Lina. She was tied to a chair, her face bruised but defiant. Behind her, one of Kane's men smirked at the camera.

Adam's chest tightened. Rage, fear, and determination collided. "Lina!" he shouted, slamming the phone down.

Selene placed a hand on his shoulder. "Calm down. Kane wants to provoke you. He wants you to make a mistake."

Adam clenched his fists. "I'm not going to wait. He crossed the line. He's going to regret this."

Lina, sensing his resolve, spoke through the video. "Adam… don't let him get inside your head. You're stronger than he thinks. We can do this together."

Adam's jaw hardened. "I'm coming for you."

Selene quickly coordinated a rescue plan. Adam and she would infiltrate Kane's private estate while Lina's backup team prepared for contingencies. Every second counted.

The night was dark and stormy, the perfect cover for Adam's return to the world he had abandoned. Every step toward Kane's estate reminded him of the life he had once left behind—a life of power, danger, and control.

They entered through a hidden service entrance. Security guards were dispatched, but Adam moved with calculated precision, incapacitating each one without hesitation.

In the main hall, Lina was finally in sight. Kane's men tried to stop him, but Adam fought with every ounce of skill he had honed over the years.

Finally, he reached her. He cut the ropes binding her hands and pulled her into his arms. "Are you okay?" he asked, voice tight with relief and anger.

"I'm fine… because you're here," Lina whispered, her eyes locking with his.

Adam turned sharply as Kane appeared in the shadows, smiling coldly. "I warned you not to interfere, Adam," he said. "But you still think you can win."

Adam's grip tightened on the nearest object—a steel pipe. "I don't think, Kane. I know."

For the first time in years, Adam felt fully alive—every skill, every memory, every secret he had carried was now in play.

Outside, thunder rumbled as the storm mirrored the battle that was about to erupt inside Kane's mansion.

And Adam knew one thing: Kane had made his move personal—but Adam was ready to make his move final.
