Chapter 72 - Da Hong vs. Magellan: Gods Clash, Prisoners Suffer(bonus chapter)

Boom!

With a deafening impact, Magellan suddenly felt his body go light.

Then the next moment, he was airborne.

He flew backward and slammed heavily into the wall.

The instant his body struck stone, Magellan's eyes widened violently, and a mouthful of blood burst from his lips.

Before he could even gather himself, Da Hong was already standing in front of him.

Then, with one smooth motion, the rabbit grabbed Magellan by the ankle.

The next second—

Da Hong swung him like a weapon and smashed him left and right in a frenzy.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

With every brutal impact, Magellan felt like his entire skeleton was coming apart. Stars exploded across his vision.

Then came another violent crash.

Magellan was hurled straight into the air like a cannonball and sent flying through the gate of Eternal Hell, where he slammed onto the ground and tumbled several times before finally stopping.

His sudden arrival sent all the vicious criminals of Level 6 into stunned disbelief.

"What the hell?! Even Magellan got beaten down?!"

"This is bad! This is really bad! Everybody find gas masks!"

The instant Magellan crashed in, the prisoners throughout Eternal Hell panicked.

They knew Magellan's powers better than anyone.

He was a walking poison disaster.

And unlike Shiryu, whose threat came from brute strength and cruelty, Magellan's danger lay in something even worse—his poison could kill everyone around him indiscriminately.

That was the real problem.

Right now, all of them were trapped in Seastone cells, with Seastone shackles suppressing their Devil Fruit powers. In that condition, forget Magellan—any half-competent jailer could bully them.

And now that Magellan had been beaten by Da Hong, there was no way he would swallow that humiliation quietly.

The moment he retaliated, he would definitely release his Venom-Venom Fruit.

And if that happened—

the ones caught in the crossfire wouldn't be Da Hong or Magellan.

It would be the prisoners.

Exactly as they feared, Magellan slowly staggered to his feet.

Then, as the inmates looked on in horror, poisonous fumes began pouring from his body.

At the same time, the fully berserk Da Hong walked through the broken gate and into Eternal Hell.

This time, Magellan had learned his lesson.

He had no intention of letting Da Hong strike first again.

Without hesitation, he unleashed his poison powers.

"Poison Cloud!"

In an instant, thick venomous fog surged out from his body and rolled straight toward Da Hong at terrifying speed.

"It's coming!"

"Poison cloud!"

Inside the cells, the criminals instantly lost their nerve. Some screamed and ran for corners. Others desperately tore cloth from their clothes and covered their mouths and noses.

But while the prisoners were descending into chaos, Da Hong—now completely engulfed by the poisonous cloud—did not panic in the slightest.

Instead, he opened his enormous maw.

Then he inhaled.

Hard.

The poison cloud that had been rushing toward him—and spreading outward in all directions—was sucked straight into his mouth like smoke drawn into a furnace.

He swallowed it all.

The prisoners went dead silent.

"He… he's not afraid of poison?"

"He inhaled the whole cloud?"

"What kind of monster is this?!"

Then, once they realized Da Hong truly wasn't affected, the prisoners recovered their courage at lightning speed and immediately switched back into cheerleader mode.

The loudest of the bunch was a sharp-faced inmate in the nearest cell.

When the poison cloud first spread out, he had nearly pissed himself and bolted for the far corner in terror.

But now, seeing Da Hong swallow the poison whole, he rushed back to the bars and began worshipping him on the spot.

"Rabbit-bro, go! Kill Magellan and you'll be the king of this prison!"

The other inmates quickly followed, egging him on as hard as they could.

As prisoners of Eternal Hell, they understood exactly how rare this was—a monster strong enough to suppress both Shiryu and Magellan.

Of course they were going to fan the flames.

Best case scenario, Da Hong beat Magellan flat too.

Hearing the endless shouting behind him, Da Hong slowly turned his head and looked toward the sharp-faced prisoner nearest him.

"Rabbit-bro! Go! Crush Magellan! You'll be the ruler of Impel Down!"

Seeing Da Hong look his way, the prisoner doubled down immediately, showering him with praise and encouragement like a street performer doing a solo routine.

Then—

Prrrt!

A sound echoed through the chamber.

The next instant, the poison cloud Da Hong had swallowed came blasting out of him from the rear and sprayed directly toward the prisoner.

The scene froze.

The prisoner had been completely unprepared.

The inmates in the surrounding cells were equally dumbstruck.

Even Magellan himself stared.

For one brief second, Eternal Hell was so silent that it felt dead.

Then the sharp-faced prisoner let out a miserable scream.

Because after passing through Da Hong's body, the poison cloud had become far deadlier than before. What had originally only numbed the senses had somehow been "processed" into a truly lethal toxin.

The prisoner dropped to the floor.

His body began to rot almost instantly.

Then, in front of everyone's eyes, he melted into a puddle of blood.

A collective chill ran through Eternal Hell.

Swallowing poison was bad enough.

But why in the world did he have to process it and fire it back out?

And why was the upgraded version even deadlier?

If Magellan kept releasing poison and Da Hong kept "refining" it, then the already terrifying Venom-Venom Fruit would become even worse.

At that point, the inmates wouldn't even leave corpses behind.

"Ahhh! Magellan, you can't use poison anymore!"

"If you poison him again, we're all going to die!"

"Listen to me, both of you—how about we stop fighting? What's wrong with just sitting down and chatting?"

"You still dare to fart in a place like this? One more and the rabbit'll gas us all!"

"We're all in the same prison, aren't we? We'll see each other all the time! Magellan, just take a step back and leave!"

Hearing the desperate cries of Eternal Hell's inmates, Magellan's mouth twitched.

This was the first time he had ever seen Level 6's monsters act so pitifully.

These were hardened devils who had once killed without blinking.

Yet now they were begging for peace.

At that very moment—

"Mr. Red Rabbit!"

Domino had finally arrived.

Holding a whole crate of fresh carrots and a brand-new magazine, she rushed into Eternal Hell and spoke in an almost fawning tone.

"This is the latest magazine! It's all about canvas sneakers!"

As she spoke, she raised the magazine carefully in both hands.

The moment Da Hong heard her voice, he immediately turned his head.

When he saw the fresh magazine in her hands and the full crate of new carrots, the monstrous face that looked like something out of hell began reverting at astonishing speed.

A heartbeat later, he had returned to normal.

Then he hurried over, snatched the magazine, and carefully flipped it open.

The instant he saw that it really was about canvas sneakers—and that the cover featured a pair of red canvas shoes—his eyes lit up.

Then he pointed to the shoes on the cover.

"I understand!"

Domino caught his meaning instantly.

"I'll arrange for people to buy them right away!"

Satisfied, Da Hong didn't waste time. He turned around and walked back toward his cell.

Domino followed immediately and carefully set down the crate of carrots inside.

Da Hong ignored her, went straight to the Simmons mattress, lay down, crossed his legs, and resumed reading, his little foot swaying lazily as though none of the chaos from moments earlier had ever happened.

Once she confirmed he had fully returned to his stable state, Domino finally let out a quiet breath of relief.

Then she moved quickly, cleaned the blood from the floor, and had Vasco Shot's remains removed.

As she stepped out of the cell—

"Close the door."

Da Hong's voice sounded from behind her.

"Yes, Mr. Red Rabbit!"

Domino hurriedly shut the cell door.

She had actually been afraid to close it herself, worried that doing so might trigger him again.

Instead, he had reminded her.

At this point, Da Hong was clearly treating Eternal Hell like his own private resort.

After shutting the door, Domino walked over to Magellan.

Before she could even report anything, Magellan suddenly spat out another mouthful of blood.

It was obvious that the beating Da Hong had given him at the elevator earlier had already left him internally injured. If Domino hadn't shown up when she did, he would probably be lying on the ground now, barely alive.

Domino, however, didn't dare help him up.

The moment he vomited blood, she instinctively took two steps back.

Magellan didn't mind.

After all, he was a poison man.

Even his breath was dangerous, let alone his blood.

"Go see if Shiryu is dead yet."

"Yes!"

Domino wasted no time and turned to run toward the elevator.

Magellan, meanwhile, turned his head and looked toward Da Hong, who was already back in his cell as though nothing had happened.

Beneath Magellan's expressionless face, however, a very dark thought was forming—

he was silently cursing Kizaru, and cursing the decision to send Da Hong to Impel Down in the first place.
