Chapter 70 - Stop the Red Rabbit! He’s Going to Beat the Prisoners to Death!

At that moment, another group of jailers entered.

The four in front were carrying a Simmons mattress. Behind them, two more carried in a toilet. The rest were loaded down with boxes of carrots, stacks of magazines, and brand-new pairs of canvas sneakers.

Under the watchful eyes of Shiryu and the inmates of Level 6, the jailers hurried to the cell at the far end and began cleaning it with practiced efficiency.

"Wha—what is this supposed to be?"

A prisoner shouted from inside his cell.

"No shackles is one thing, but they're feeding him and pampering him too? Is that rabbit here to serve a vacation sentence?!"

"Hahaha! First time I've ever seen the guards in Eternal Hell act this humble!"

"This is interesting. Very interesting."

"Hey, rabbit—what are you supposed to be?"

"He looks kind of cute and stupid. Don't tell me Magellan sent us a mascot because Eternal Hell was getting too dull!"

Amid the criminals' increasingly absurd commentary, the cell was finally cleaned out.

Once the mattress, toilet, sneakers, and magazines had all been moved inside, Da Hong was very politely transferred into the cell with the help of two jailers.

"Chief Jailer, I'll leave things here to you."

Domino glanced once at the rabbit now locked inside the cell, then turned to Shiryu and gave him a quick report before withdrawing.

From beginning to end, Shiryu had been in a state of complete disbelief.

Only after Domino and the jailers left Level 6 and the heavy iron gate clanged shut behind them did he finally recover himself and look toward Da Hong.

Shiryu had already heard plenty about the Red Rabbit's "glorious" deeds.

Still, he did not truly believe the thing was as terrifying as the stories claimed.

He walked up to the cell and looked at the spotless interior, the mattress on the floor, and the rabbit seated comfortably inside.

A vicious smile slowly curved his lips.

Admiral Kizaru may have left special instructions, but this was Shiryu of the Rain.

Any criminal sent to Impel Down was his prey.

And he killed prey however he pleased.

"Shiryu… that rabbit doesn't seem to like you very much."

A drunken, slurred voice came from the neighboring cell.

"Looking at your expression, you've already picked him as your next target, haven't you? Hehehe…"

Shiryu turned his head toward the adjacent cell.

There, lit by the dim prison lights, was a hideous face and a long sausage-like nose.

Vasco Shot.

One of the regular monsters of Eternal Hell. User of the Glug-Glug Fruit. Nicknamed the Heavy Drinker.

Seeing Shiryu look over, Vasco hauled his heavy body up to the bars and grinned drunkenly.

"Since he's my new neighbor, do me a favor and spare him for a little while."

"Oh?"

Shiryu took a drag on his cigar and blew smoke straight at him.

"And what kind of favor could trash like you possibly be owed?"

"You think you're Red-Haired Shanks?"

Then his tone shifted.

"Still… the fact that you want me to spare him…"

"Is that because you're bored? Or…"

"Because I haven't eaten meat in too long." Vasco Shot licked his lips and laughed. "Rabbit head would probably go very nicely with booze. Hehehe…"

"Is that so?"

Shiryu's interest sharpened.

He pointed at Da Hong, who was sitting on the mattress reading his magazine.

"I heard he's especially protective of his things. His canvas sneakers. The magazine in his hands."

"How about you test that for me?"

"If you do, I'll have someone prepare you a proper dinner."

"Meat and booze. As much as you want."

"Deal!"

Vasco Shot's eyes lit up at once.

Ever since being thrown into Eternal Hell, he had not eaten a decent piece of meat.

Faced with that kind of temptation, there was no way he would refuse.

Still, instead of acting immediately, he tilted his head and asked,

"So what exactly did this rabbit do to get sent here?"

The moment he asked, the inmates in the nearby cells all pricked up their ears.

They were curious too.

A rabbit being locked in Eternal Hell was already ridiculous.

A rabbit being locked in Eternal Hell while receiving luxury treatment was outright insane.

"He killed a Celestial Dragon," Shiryu said flatly.

"And over a hundred members of the Goa Kingdom royal family."

The moment the words "killed a Celestial Dragon" left his mouth, Vasco Shot's drunken gaze sharpened at once.

The prisoners in the surrounding cells all turned to stare at Da Hong.

"He killed a Celestial Dragon and still got this treatment? What kind of joke is that?!"

"Holy Land just sent him here? How are they supposed to explain that to the Celestial Dragons?"

"Shut up."

Shiryu's expression darkened immediately. He turned toward one of the louder prisoners.

"Avalo Pizarro. If you want to keep breathing in here, close your mouth."

Avalo Pizarro, the Corrupt King. User of the Isle-Isle Fruit.

Unlike the others, he wasn't wearing prison clothes. Instead, he had on a long white-and-dark-brown fur coat, a light purple necklace, and feline traits all over his body—cat-like eyes, wild blue hair, pale horns fixed to his head with black metal plates, and a lighter blue beard that hung past his shoulders.

Everyone in Eternal Hell had once been a monster of the seas.

But that was the past.

Inside Level 6, wearing Seastone restraints and under Shiryu's shadow, even people like Vasco Shot and Avalo Pizarro had learned to keep their heads down.

Not because they lacked pride—

but because they wanted to live, and Shiryu was a madman who treated murder as recreation.

So the instant Shiryu spoke, the cells quieted.

Satisfied, Shiryu nodded slightly, then looked back at Vasco Shot.

"To be honest, I'm just as curious as you are."

"This rabbit killed a Celestial Dragon and over a hundred royals, yet Holy Land didn't have him chopped to pieces. Instead, they sent him here and ordered us to pamper him."

"That's not normal."

Vasco Shot's drunken eyes rolled toward Da Hong again.

"Lend me a tool. Let's see what kind of magazine the little rabbit is so obsessed with."

Shiryu promptly found him a stick.

Vasco Shot took it without hesitation and thrust it through the bars, aiming straight for the magazine in Da Hong's hands.

A soft tearing sound followed.

The magazine vanished from Da Hong's grasp.

He had been reading quite happily.

Now he blinked, slow and blank.

Then he followed the stick upward with his eyes.

The moment he saw Vasco Shot, his brows slammed together.

In the next instant, a terrifying aura erupted from his body.

Crack.

The stick snapped in two.

Before Vasco Shot could react, Da Hong was already standing in front of him, gripping half the broken stick.

At the same time—

Inside the Warden's Office, Magellan had finally finished in the bathroom and was dragging himself back in, weak-legged and exhausted. Out of habit, he glanced at the surveillance Den Den Mushi linked to Eternal Hell.

The moment he saw the feed, his pupils shrank.

On the monitor, the Red Rabbit—who had only just been delivered—was somehow already standing in front of Vasco Shot's cell.

Before Magellan could fully process it, Da Hong bent the Seastone bars apart with his bare hands.

Then he stepped straight into Vasco Shot's cell and drove a punch into the man's stomach.

Boom.

Still chained by Seastone handcuffs and shackles, Vasco Shot flew backward like a cannonball, smashed into the prison wall, then rebounded off it and crashed back onto the floor.

"Ugh—!"

The instant he hit, he spat out at least two mouthfuls of blood.

"What is going on?!"

Staring at the violence unfolding on the surveillance screen, Magellan blinked stupidly, then grabbed the Den Den Mushi beside him and shouted,

"Shiryu! Why are you just standing there?! Stop the Red Rabbit! He's going to beat Vasco Shot to death!"

Hearing Magellan's voice blaring from the Den Den Mushi, Shiryu slowly lifted his head toward one of the surveillance snails and curled his lips in a wicked grin.

The next second, he swept his hand out and shut off every surveillance Den Den Mushi in Eternal Hell.

"They're just trash."

"If they die, they die."

After cutting the surveillance, Shiryu took a deep, satisfied drag on his cigar and watched the scene with obvious enjoyment.

Vasco Shot had barely hit the floor before Da Hong grabbed him and hurled him again.

Unfortunately for Vasco, this time he crashed right onto Da Hong's own Simmons mattress.

Coughing up blood, he snatched up one of the magazines lying nearby and held it out in front of him like a shield.

"You've had enough, rabbit!"

"If you come any closer, I—I'll rip your magazine to shreds!"

Da Hong, who had been charging over to continue the beating, stopped at once.

But the terrifying aura pouring off him did not fade.

If anything, it grew even more violent. His face began to change as he edged closer and closer to his berserk form.

"What the hell is this?!"

Vasco Shot's face turned pale.

"Is he a Devil Fruit user or not? Why isn't Seastone affecting him?!"

He turned toward Shiryu in desperation.

"Shiryu! Stop him!"

Shiryu did not move.

He simply continued watching with amused interest as Da Hong's rage intensified.

Vasco Shot's eyes filled with despair.

"If you won't stop him, then at least don't leave me in this cell!"

"I want another cell! Let me out! Let me out!"

Riiip—

In his agitation, he accidentally tore the magazine in half.

The moment he realized what he had done, Vasco Shot froze like lightning had struck him.

He stared at the ripped pages in his hands, his drunken face drained instantly of all color.

Da Hong, who had already been on the edge of a full berserk state, saw his beloved magazine torn apart.

That was the last straw.

His face completed its transformation in an instant. His nose disappeared. His mouth split wide. His eyes blazed with brilliant golden light.

Then he vanished.

In the next instant, he was right in front of Vasco Shot.

A fist the size of a sandbag smashed down onto the prisoner's head.

There was no suspense.

Vasco Shot's skull burst apart like a brittle watermelon.

Blood and brain matter sprayed everywhere.

But Da Hong did not stop.

He seized Vasco Shot's arms with both hands.

RIP!

With a wet, tearing sound, he ripped both arms clean off.

The sight was so grotesque and violent that even Shiryu was stunned.

And the prisoners in the surrounding cells?

They turned to stone on the spot.
